The lemon skunks are getting close! I'm going to start flushing them soon, next week or so I guess...

^ Thanks, dude. :tiphat:

Clearly! Can you believe that there are still people who think that CFL's don't grow bud? LOL. What a tired argument! I mean, I would never rely on fluorescents, solely, because of yield factor... but I will never NOT have a fluorescent grow going on at any given time, because the buds that result are always super-high quality, and always display WAY more trichomes than the same clone under an HPS.

This, coming from someone who has been growing under HPS lights for about 15 years now.

A few pictures of the Lemon Skunks, which are almost done! I just began flushing them today. They are at day 49 of 12/12, and they are already getting amber trichs, along with swollen calyxes. First here is the sexy pheno:

Then here is the chunky pheno:

That's all for now.

Thanks! So yeah, this has been quite a successful experiment thus far! I admittedly need to veg out my clones first if I plan on growing Lemon Skunk in here again... Sadhu is actually stretching quite nicely, but I still think it will stop stretching short of the ideal height. Noted for the future. But I am determined to find the right strains to put in here as clones with no veg time.

As you can see, the 2 from-seed plants are getting too big! So I don't need this to be a 12/12 from seed cabinet, either. It seems to me that all I need to do is start growing more sativa-dominant hybrids in here. In fact, I ended up with a sativa-dom Lemon Skunk that I have been growing out in my 400w tent. I think, next time around, I will grow that lemon skunk in here, and the 2 that are in here will be grown out under the 400 watter, lol. That's just how this goes sometimes, when we are in full on experimental mode.

Also, I think next time I will actually be putting one big square-shaped container in here, and then planting all the clones in a circle shape around the perimeter of the container, and I will make a it a hempy-style grow. Individual pots suck, lol. Never been my preferred method of growing in soil or soilless. So next time, it will be essentially a raised bed, hempy style, and I might end up planting more than 6 clones. I think, with a single-stalk type of plant, I could easily put 8 in here comfortably. Then again, if I went with a branchier type plant, 4 would probably be more appropriate.

I like the idea of using this cabinet as a genetics tester. That was not my original intention, but it seems to be working out great for me!

I definitely plan on it! I have already begun looking for the perfect size square-shaped container to put in here. If I can find the right one, I'm going to probably plant up some Sadhu clones next weekend. I will already be harvesting the lemon skunks, and then that will only leave the 2 sadhu clones, and the 2 from-seed plants. I think I will end up transferring those to the 400w tent, and starting from scratch in here, under the CFL. Now that I have experimented with it, and know how effective it is, I want to do it right.

So, the plan is to have one big container in here, with ~6 Sadhu clones planted in a circle, veg'd for about 2 weeks, then flipped to 12/12. I think that will maximize the space in here. I also think I should be able to yield up to a half ounce off each Sadhu clone this way. So stay tuned! :D

So, I just did some thinking, and I realized I won't be able to plant clones in all one container while being able to easily remove the container from the cabinet. That light hangs down too far! So, I think what I might end up doing is going with 4 clones, 1 in each corner of a square-shaped bed, and then LST'ing. I still think that I will go with a hempy bed.

hi there, hush

can you please elaborate on the hempy bed?

i am thinking of growing in hempy buckets in my next run, curious what's on your mind?

I'm just interested in using one big hempy container for all my plants, instead of individual hempy containers. Think, like a raised bed, but with a hole, hempy style.

Okay, so I took the from-seed plants out of here and put them under the 400, where some space was freed up today.

I now have 2 lemon skunks that are about to be harvested very soon, and 2 sadhus that are still in early flowering. I think I'm going to stay with just 4 plants in here from now on, and I'm going to start vegging them for a few weeks before they come in here.

I took some pictures of the new looks:

It's much brighter in there when it's just clones... clones are nice to work with, with their little leaves. Look how the sadhus have bud sites all the way down to the soil!

OK i see now, nice idea if you're thinking of clones. in case of seeds it could be risky - removing males could result in root contamination i guess.

do you have a container in your mind already? what would be its size? classic perlite+vermiculite or coco?

cannot wait till you do that because i am thinking of hempy coco buckets (1 plant per bucket) and it will be nice to compare what comes out :)

these clones are great looking, buds from soil to top! :good:

Yeah I only pretty much work with clones when I can help it.

I will be going hempy style for sure on the next run. I'm pretty sure I know exactly what container I want to use, too. I remember when I first set this cabinet up, I originally had a small hydroponics system in here, called the Garden of Ease. It was actually a perfect fit, in terms of dimensions. And I'm pretty sure it's just a standard square planter that I've seen for sale at garden centers before. Plastic, but terracotta colored.

So I'll get one of those, drill a hole in it, fill it with standard perlite/vermiculite mix, plant it up, and go!

I'm also going to put a grommet and a elbow in the hole, so I can channel the waste water into a bucket. You'll see, you won't have to wait too long, because as soon as the cuts I took yesterday are rooted, I'm emptying this cabinet and starting fresh. The lemon skunks will be harvested by then, and the sadhus will go under the 400 to finish.

I can't wait! I think hempy will be the perfect way to go during the summer months here... Then I can go back to DWC for the winter months.

I actually converted my Garden of Ease system into a DWC, because it works so much better that way. No water pumps heating the water... just an air stone and an external air pump.

I found a picture from back when I was planning out this cab, where you can see the size of the container I'll be using, and how nicely it fits in here:

I chopped the chunky lemon skunk tonight. That's day 56. She was ready! Here are a few fresh popcorn nugs:

you could also consider automatic feeding - i just built one :)
