i've smoked my ABV. not much for taste, but it will get high

The next night I ate two big pinches and I got a little to high for my liking... the little lady was asking if I was okay... well I said.. I ate some ABV and I think it was a bit to much so I will ride it out.

Peace

Its actually 20 of them. The price is not as high as many have been led to believe. They go for about the same as a Volcano on ebay..

Sorry OGskush, not sure what you are asking about the functionality. Peace GS

Sounds sublime. ;) No doubt I'd pick one over a Volcano, I just don't care for bag vapes anyway (my pref).

Few days of vaping produces a vast amount of distillate. Peace GS

isn't that a pita to clean all the time? i'm trying to figure out why this happens ... condensation, obviously, so the vapor is so fucking thick, it can't stay in a vapor state and much of it immediately condenses on the cool(er) glass and metal.

i'm not knocking it ... just not my thing. although i would love to try that incredibly high quality herb in my vape. mids/regs suck.

That distillate will become a new cannabis product soon. If properly filtered, it tastes great and gets ya baked as dabs.

Most bongs need to be cleaned after use. Peace GS

I have a really strong feeling this happens because, the metal, and the airflow temperature are not as hot as it is before the user inhales. This causes the vapor to cool down, and condense. Metal doesn't hold heat that well, as say something like glass.

When you heat up your sublimator to temperature, the bowl, as well as the air that already inside the heater, is heated thoroughly due to metal being able to conduct heat well but, when you inhale, being that the air path is so short, a lot of the air doesn't reach full temperature, which means as soon as you inhale the air in the heater will extract a lot of the actives due to the temperature being so high, but right after that the rest of the incoming air is much cooler therefore cooling off the higher boiling actives.

As the vapor travels down into the atomizer it is cooled off even further due to the restriction forcing the air, and vapor together. By the time it hits the rest of the long metal, it is condensed considerably giving a thick vapor due to metal not holding the heat enough to keep the vapor in the air. As the air isn't able to hold onto the vapor from being too cool, it becomes a thick cloud of vapor. This thick vapor will give a powerful adrenaline rush along with the high, making it feel like a smoking effect. This thick vapor will also condense on the walls of the metal or glass much faster then if it were warmer, which is why you can get a reclaim oil. This methods is how you make essential oil in with steam.

Budtoaster, since your vaporizer has proper temperature reading, and can hold it's heat, you can try this experiment to see what I say is true. Set the temperature to 430f-440f, cool the glass tool that you use to inhale the air from your herb, as this will allow the vapor to cool down, and be smooth to inhale. You can put it in the refrigerator for 10-15 minutes to get it real cool, but not enough to break it. Being that it has multiple holes in it, it should be a little like the atomizer in causing restriction to allow proper cooling. Let me know how it goes.

okay, metal is faster conducting heat, and will conduct heat from the apollo down through the atomizer. my glass is cool enough to touch 1.5" away from the end of the heater coil. so, my glass draw tube is basically at ambient temperature just above where the vapor enters. i have seen reclaim condensation, but not with this crappy herb i have.

re: smoothness. i notice a great difference between a 12mm dia draw tube and a 16mm diameter draw tool. next time i get glassware i'm going for some 25mm diameter test tubes ... a mini-bong.

i just did a session at 430°F. now, i never go much above 382°F, but the extra 50° definitely extracted a lot more vapor -- kind of heavy feeling/sleepy time tea -- still no condensation (crappy herb). pretty smooth, though i'll probably cough up gunk later or tomorrow morning. and the vapor poop is the same color as when i do a session at 380°F. cube also stayed cool to the touch - although a couple of sessions in a row begins to warm the cube.

i should do more testing beyond my normal pattern of usage.

I agree metal conducts heat fast, but the inhale will cool down the temperature of the vapor, which in turn would cool down the air, which in turn will cool down the metal. Now, when I state cool I don't mean cold to the touch, I mean enough to allow the vapor to condense into larger vapor sizes. Once you cool the actives down below their boiling points, they will get slower, cool down, and get larger from becoming attached to each other, which will ultimately lead to a thick vapor. This would happen fast if you inhale real hard. Try this out. Heat up some type of metal, and glass, then blow a fan on both of them. Watch the metal cool off faster then the glass. Metal is a good conductor, while glass is a good insulator.

Could you put the draw tube in the refrigerator, and see if it gives thicker vapor when done this way? I would love to see the outcome since your draw tube has the holes that will allow a lot of restrictive cooling with the cold environment the "out of the the fridge draw tube" will give

Hey folks. I've been searching and learning and now I'm looking for some opinions. My gf wants a vape for health benefits. She'll basically only use it when I'm over so it's for me as much as for her. She won't mess with anything too fancy or complicated. She likes form as much as functon. (FYI to give you the idea--she replaced her iphone 4 with a 5 fairly recently) She's mentioned portable so that's what I'm mostly looking at.

I'm looking at arizer solo, davinci and pax ploom. The pax looks the sleekest and simplest, it's got a great warranty and folks report great customer service. The solo and davinci both get tons of great reviews, too, and both have been out longer so they have better track records. Any thoughts? Just how portable and usable are the solo and davinci? The pax seems the most stealthy looking to me.

I've got a line on a used pax for $150 but I'm concerned about buying used vs new. Might just pop for new to avoid the hassles of used but not sure yet.

I've used both the PAX and the SOLO... I thought the solo was a much better unit. My friend that owns the PAX has buyers remorse and wishes he'da gotten the solo...

mgk :tiphat:

Can you elaborate, MGK? Appreciate any info.

i like my da vinci, never used a solo, but hear good things. the pax i also like and was considering it until i saw the price.

the only negative about the da vinci is it gets a little warm. at home its fine. in your pocket it might be a bit warm.

the da vinci also does oils and tinctures (oil can included).

love the ability to dial the temps in exactly where i want them.

Hello John,

My buddy that has the Pax likes my solo better because it has 7 temp settings (even tho, you'll probably only use the top 3) and the Pax has 3 temp settings.. the low seems too low, the high seems too high, so he runs it always on the middle setting. The Solo is much easier to clean and I think feels like a much more solid instrument in hand. The ONLY benefit I can see to the Pax is it seems to have a longer battery life (more uses between charging).. However, I can stay high most days with only a single charge (I'm a lightweight tho). I just bought one of Arizer's desktop units called the Extreme Q.. getting used to it.. Have fun.. Once you go vape, you'll never go back..

Just an update. My gf bought the pax. It's a fun little unit. It's my first vape but the 3 settings seem to work well for us. Cleaning is quick and easy and not such a big deal as I've read. EXTREMELY stealthy! I've hit this thing walking down the sidewalk right downtown without drawing any attention. The taste is amazing. After using this it really does make smoking taste like licking an ashtray. Very clean creeper high. We got pretty baked before going on a nice hike yesterday. Fun.

Glad you like the Pax. It's my favorite portable for it's stealth & extraction. I prefer the medium/high setting. Not that great for a group, but excellent for 1 or 2 people. With really stinky/skunky herb......Chems/Sour/OG's....you might get a little bit of attention, but the smell dissipates a good bit after the first few minutes. Even with that it's super easy to use in public. After you vape most of the bowl, try flipping the block of herb upside down. You'll get several more nice hits on the other side.....fairly even extraction too.

For Extreme Q owners I suggest you ditch the cyclone bowl and just use it as a "wand" with your bong. Put a screen and some weed into an 18.8 active carbon adapter (ROOR/EHLE downstems have one built in) or 14.4->18.8 adapter or whatever. The best I've found is a screen notch bowl, but I push the screen below the notches, put the weed on top of it, and use the notches to prevent the Extreme from directly touching the weed. Works great no "heatup time" or anything. The cyclone bowl is a complete failure I think its point is to make sure combustion never happens, not effective vaporization.

Thanks, b_i. We were just hitting it this morning with our coffee and talking about how good it tastes. Great way to start the day.

We start with a few hits on low, then switch to medium for the majority and then over to high to finish it all off. I stir up the oven about halfway through.
