thanks for that info Silver, I'd also love to hear your review of the smoke from aptus vs silver soil plants (since u have plenty of exp.) with the nightmare diesel's flavor and potency....

u got me scheming on a bucket of them pellets....

Definitely - I was already doing the maths in my head to finger out just how many three gallon containers I can do with the pellets left from the initial sample.. I think I can do 8 or 9 more :D

Kind of feels a bit against whatever organic ethos I've decided to have, but then, whothefuck knows what that's all about anyway. I think probably challenge & general life gravitation. Lord knows I'm not as discriminating when it comes to what I put in my own body (thank you, Sierra Nevada!) - so why do I insist the plants need to eat only seaweed, bird and bat shit, and worm shit?

 But anyway, yeah, it's a pretty damned impressive just-add-water solution.

(Also, from experience, so is Rainbow Mix from EJ)

Smoke report will for shore come, one vs t'other, .. Although I was just thinking yesterday, I said I'd do a smoke report on the White, and that still hasn't happened.. Instead, I'm almost smoked through the entire ~2+ oz :D

Sup Silv!! Glad you're stickin aroond!! CoolTubes are key when heat is z issue!! I still got 4 justin case...

Overhead, 'ey, what's that all aboot? :blowbubbles:

Nightmare Diesel, silver styl-ee, 84 days

Autofocus photos - sorry y'all, it's easy when I'm in lousy lighting and in a hurry (and eventually gloved and greazy)

Settle in - have I ever mentioned how oh-so-much I loathe this task?

:yeahthats

Thanks ~sprout! The pipe is a recent replacement.. Broke an age old rule (which is as age old as it is oft broken) - don't bang your shit to ash it. :D

One morning, finished smoking a bowl, and gave the old one the trusty 'tap tap' (sounds more like BANG BANG) .. and all I got was a tap t--- "ahhhh shit."

So, the me-styl-ee Nightmare Diesel came down last night. I'm pretty sure she's as done as she'll be.

I wanted to take a quick second to point this out, because I feel like this thread is probably more full of dick and fart jokes than it is actual relating of growing experience. I tend to just hit the ground and GO with my whole own experience and folly and all that shit, and live with its consequences, without thinking to relay to y'all some of the particulars, for better and for worse.

Coming down the stretch, I thought she looked a bit spindly vs the Aptus Nightmare. About 10 days back, I cooked up a batch of what would otherwise be labeled in a laboratory-grade white plastic bottle with a sexy picture of a hot broad, maybe in a giant martini glass with some herb reference, as a BLOOM BOOSTER.

But mine was just about a TBSP of kelp meal, a TBSP or so of molasses, and a small top dressing of some indonesian bat shit - about a TBSP, on a 3 gal container.

Bubbled it all up with about 1/2 gal water, about 24 hours.

Fed her. And she responded with some noticeably significant swelling!

First impressions, Aptus Baseboost v my own brain and evil-genius..

And first things first before first impressions, firstly I should first point out that I only used the Baseboost product, at the rate of 20 g per gal of medium. (Their destructions call for 100 g per 5 gal container. So I mixed at the same rate, just 3 gal instead of their called-for 5). I did not use the Fasilator or any other voodoo. I have some Fasilator and may tinker with it going forward, on some frankensteining-worthy plants.

The Aptus plant wanted to run longer [edit - longer than the usual mix, that is], for sure. I probably could've let her go another handful of days or even a week, but the timing with actual life crap warranted her felling this weekend. But she was more cloudy/less amber at chop, v the silver soil, which was more amber/less cloudy.

The Aptus plant was noticeably more leafy on the lower branches - that is, it made the lower/smaller branches feel more larfy, vs. the lower/smaller branches on the me mix. But, on the larger stalks, the Aptus was no more (or less) leafy than the silver soil. Overall main cola density/size was comparable between the two.

On the Aptus plant, the calyxes didn't appear to be as swollen as those on the silver sexytime, though that might should be expected, as she could've run up to another week.

Based on the visual and the handling/experience of each so far, I have a feeling the personal proprietary pondered-up pimp hand is going to yield more. If I had to take a stab, I'll take an ambitious one:

Aptus: 3 oz

Home team: 3.5 oz

Reality might be closer to 2.5 and 3 respectively, but who knows.

Overall [and so far], I'm not disappointed with the Aptus Baseboost.

BUT, at $100 per 1 kg (which means 10 5 gal containers, or 16 3 gals, etc), it's a hefty price tag, at least for those of used to growing with items like shit, shit, and more shit, some dead critters, and some dried up seaweed.

I've had similarly positive experiences in terms of heavy yield and good-looking flowers using only FFOF/ProMix + EJ Rainbox Mix. At $17 per kg, and 1 TBSP/gal container, it's a far more economical solution. :)

Who knows. With baby dudeman coming in the next 60-70 days, maybe I'll get s'more experimentation on. This time, perhaps a Aptus v Rainbow Mix gimmick...?

thanks cali!

Saw the damndest thing today.

I've got a couple Nightmares vegging under the T5, and a couple nightmares rooting there as well.. They're all on blumats, so for the most part, my interaction consists of making sure the rez is full and the pots are sufficiently moist.

I've been thinking lately like "Damn, are these vegging super slow or what?"

Today I made two discoveries:

1. The bigger of the two vegging ND's is spitting pistils on her lower branches

2. 3 of the 4 bulbs are out.

I'm wondering, did the significant reduction in light make'er go wonky?

The lone bulb has actually been on 24/7 for the past few months. Used to be on 18/6 but I bypassed the timer a while ago and never put it back on.

could have been flickering a very slight bit...

I was having some auto issues under fluoros earlier in the year and one of my bulbs was ever so slightly flickering - so slightly I almost convinced myself it was all in my head.

However, changed the bulb out and all auto problems stopped. I found it odd as plants that NEVER show pistils began showing all the sudden...and that was was the problem.

Damn silver I really need to get my nightmare diesel in flower  Sadly that won't be for awhile :moon:, unless I can talk somebody into letting me run some at the new project :bashhead:

It definitely made me chuckle. :D Good thought on the flickerage, with the other bulbs out and all..

All has been corrected today, I'm proud to inform!

20/4 veg time for the win.

What's the reasoning behind 20/4 > than say, 18/6?

Ch ch ch check it - it's easy (buncha f*ckin' lames) ;)

Have your peeps call me, I'll set 'em straight, and everyone will have a nice f*ckin' day afterwards. :D

Really, though, it's all subjective. She's a keeper for me, that's for shore, but everything is different to everyone. I dunno. Could just be that she's one I just happened to learn how to spank fairly well, or maybe I'm just cheesed out over the effect, maybe it tickles my brain the perfect way ..

Kind of hard to tell since the sample size, so-to-speak, is relatively small. Okay, fucking tiny. :)

But, again, she's a keeper for me. She'll be in the stable as long as I'm doin' this, and afterwards, she might just have to travel along with my plant count to a caregiver.. :D

i saw some side by side tests with 16/8, 18/6, 20/4, 22/2, and 24/0 lighting and the 20/4 won hands down.
It seems the lighting schedule most preferred by these plants.
Ever since ive done it and i can veg a plant with the best of them.

This latest project is very focused on short turn around times (i.e bringing up even 9 week flower times makes the owner's butthole clench). Just another greedy rich asshole, don't think there's any talking to him. I'm trying to work out having a head stash room, or taking over part of the one already built (head grower is NOT happy about that idea). Thing is, i'm not being especially well received by anyone on the new project. Nobody likes to have someone come in and nit pick at everything that's being done wrong/less efficiently than it should. As a direct result i'm not making any new friends . Doesn't help that i'm kind of an asshole, and short on tolerance for bullshit. Already had to "explain" to several people if they were doing their job, I wouldn't be here, period.

Still, there is something special about the nightmare. I don't know what it is yet, but for whatever reason I feel really compelled to grow it, kind of like bonz' orge cut (hint hint buddy ). The way you describe the effects are right up my alley. Plus I like her structure, which is a huge part of selection for me. Worst case scenario she will be in the hands of a trusted friend while i'm away, hoping to come back to samples . Once I get settled back into my normal routine i'll be putting her through the ringer to see what comes out on the other side.
