And once your paperwork is sent into the state, as long as you did so properly and retained all proper postal receipts and stubs as proof, you're able to visit dispensaries while waiting for your actual red card to arrive, this window is open for 30 days or until your card / rejection is processed, whichever comes first.

So, coming in from out of state you need to...

1. Establish a form of residency in the state of CO.

2. Visit an mmj clinic and get approved.

3. Mail your paperwork exactly as you're directed in the instructions given to you at the clinic, retain all receipts and stubs.

4. Bring all your paperwork, including postal receipts and stubs, with you to every dispensary you visit in your 30 day temporary status period, you may only visit dispensaries Monday-Friday 9am-5pm with temporary paperwork, whereas Red Card holders may make purchases any time during a dispensary's normal business hours (no sales are allowed after 7pm, and "last call" at most dispensaries occurs at 6:45).

5. Enjoy the freedom and please visit us again.

Sorry I haven't been diligent with the updates on the grows guys, but i'm in the middle of a move and things are hectic.

just making sure i am understanding this all correctly ........

A) you have to go to a clinic when you get to colorado

B) you need proof of residency from your home state

C) you need to pay the doctor and the state and send everything by registered mail so that you have some paperwork to carry into the shops/clinics while you are here on your 7 day vacation but there are a few restrictions on the hours you can buy that don't apply to in state card holders

sorry about kicking the horse so many times fellas , but i'm trying to make sure nobody needs to waste any vacation time.

I would say 1st Residency / established colorado location for your application. I'm not sure how the out of state thing really works without having CO ID's.

Then you go to the doctors to get your prescription / permission to mail your completed paperwork. Check ahead with the clinic sometimes they are booked from dispensary sign up days.

Once it's in the mail you'll have the receipt that postage was paid and you show your doctor paperwork.

Wala you can enter the stores for 30 days, after that time you need the physical card. I also remember something about limits on the weekends or something with temp paperwork unless it's been changed.

Dunno why you'd think you'd need residency proof from your home state, that would automatically disqualify you? Edited my instructions to be super clear, yes doctors, the state, and the post office all charge separately for their services, follow the instructions given to you by your chosen mmj clinic, most give out a very clear instruction sheet with your finalized paperwork, if you lose this sheet you can view official instructions regarding mmj paperwork from the state at The Medical Marijuana Registry's Website

So we're talking folks who actually have a 'need', rather than 'recreational'?

I understand that 'gifting' is acceptable, up to an OZ., or am I misunderstanding 64?

I need to scroll back a page and see how this got started,..... but yes. Under 64 one can "GIFT" meaning give to another over 21 years of age any amount up to a full ounce of cannabis without renumeration,.....

Section 3 paragraph C;
(c) TRANSFER OF ONE OUNCE OR LESS OF MARIJUANA WITHOUT REMUNERATION TO A PERSON WHO IS TWENTY-ONE YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER.

As far as the out of stater needing a docs rec,... not under 64, tho it's not all hammered out yet.

Currently, for anyone to acquire via a dispensary you've gotta follow the rules of A-20, proof of residency, medical need, and so on.

Sometime next year shit should get worked out with A64 for recreational sale and out of staters should only need to prove that they're 21+.

i was asking what someone who is only coming to colorado for a short vacation would have to do to buy weed legally while they were here. is there anything they can do to be allowed to purchase from a dispensary while they are here?

Not unless it's an extended vaction... or as they said people are legally able to gift oz's to people and that would be your best bet. They'll have to wait until next year for the public shops as mentioned above too.

Easy, forgo the Dispensary.
:blowbubbles:

that idea was the first one on the table and it is looking like the easiest way to solve the supply problems.

but some folks in states that are not as weed friendly as ours really want to see the inside of a dispensary while they are here. all the questions are because i have heard that it is possible from some sources and impossible from others.

i'd like to know for sure one way or another how things work BEFORE our guest arrives at the airport.

the 6 P's (prior planning prevents piss poor performance) rule has always proven to be true IME, and a vacation is not the time to be scrambling to cover your ass

Most of the dispensarys I've been to don't want you in the lobby if you don't have your red card,.... let alone in the back.

S

According to mmed rules people without red cards are technically allowed to "accompany" red card holders inside dispensaries, but this is purely the choice of each individual dispensary, visitors will be required to sign in if they go beyond the lobby, and depending on the exact layout of the dispensary you may or may not get a decent view this way, but many have multiple layers of security so just getting in the door doesn't mean you get a feast for the eyes.

If you follow the instructions I gave you in the post at the top of the page, your friend will be happy on his visit, I can guarantee this.

Don't understand something? Read it again, it's very clear.

crystal:biggrin:

sounds like if you are not willing to give up some vacation time and cash talking to a doc you can't be 100% sure of a damn thing

i am use to the rules being kinda vague as far as MMJ goes .... welcome to the rectangle:tiphat:

S

SooperSmurph

We have our own vagueries, in all likelihood, once the paperwork is received by the state, they will be denied for not having proper identification (temporary or permanent CO ID), but for some reason those first 30 days don't seem to be an overly huge concern for the overworked folks at the mmed, take this for what it is ;)

And certain other problems IF things don't go smoothly.....

Sorry to be a bummer but, it'd be a bitch to jump through all those hoops, just for a guided tour of a dispensary.

i agree 100%

i think after you jumped through every hoop and finally got into a dispensary you would be wondering why you had bothered to jump through all the hoops in the first place ............... but i live in a place where dispensaries are commonplace so my view is at least somewhat tweeked by that reality.

what lengths the guest wants to go to to get into a dispensary will be up to him in the end.

what i can do is promise that no matter how things shake out there is no way they will have to spend their vacation herbless :tiphat:

lol I must admit to a certain amount of curiosity regarding dispensaries. I've only been in one, and that was no big deal. Pretty much a whatever for me.

Just another 'list', I don't want my name on.... To each their own though. Personally I'm more concerned as to what's in the freezer!

Enjoy the Holliday everyone.

You can't buy weed at a dispensary in co if you are vacationing. Period. End of story. No loop holes of any kind. So forget it.

Find someone to "give" you weed while here or mail yourself some herb.
