I'm going to build the bulk res today, I get so pissed when I go down and having to look at burnt tips and knowing my air gap is never right bc I didn't ever fully put the damn thing together. These pics piss me off, but here they are:

My wife wants me to quit my job and grow full time so I can be home more often.

This is the first I've ever read about someone's wife wanting them to quit a legit job and grow full time. Good for you! Of course only you and her know what's right for you.

I didn't quit my job... but I reduced my hours to 16hs a week. I have a career I'm building however, and I'm financing my education/living expenses with my grows. It was scary at first... but I have no regrets. Now I have the flexibility I need to attend class and see my family. Before I became a full time grower, I didn't have the time to see my family... and even if I did, I didn't have the money for gas.

Things have changed now... and if it wasn't for my health insurance... I would have walked off my job last weekend after some bullshit that went down. I make at least 5x as much growing as I do working a legit job. Growing doesn't offer health insurance, tuition reimbursement, sick/vacation time, etc... I guess I'm more of a part-time worker, part-time grower, part-time student... It all adds up to being very busy full time.

If you do take the leap... make sure you keep a backup fund just in case you have some sort of catastrophe that causes you to lose a crop. My $0.02.

Get the mini-split either way. Its well worth the investment.

Yes, she is an awesome companion. She is very supportive of me doing something that I obviously love doing and it doesn't hurt that I could potentially make much more than my day job. In fact, I'm definitely doubling my legit income and my job is actually holding me back from reaching my full potential with the grows. We understand not all money is good money and will settle for less $ in exchange for less risk. There will always be work in my field if I needed to come back I could. I'm not unhappy in my job, I'm just being stretched pretty thin with the extra workload, and it just makes sense to do the thing that I love most rather than work an unnecessary job. And I do see a mini-split and co2 in the future.

Sounds like my world... minus the super supportive wife.

My day job just gets in the way at this point and limits (eliminates) the time I could have doing what I'd like.

I'm unfortunately too nice (or chicken?) to quit my day job and commit to a life of crime...lol. My day job pays well, but its still peanuts in the grand scheme of things. Furthermore I don't get any benefits and I have to commute.

I'll likely one day look back at this and regret giving so much of my time for someone else.

On the flip side.. I justify it as not multiplying my salary.. but just stacking double my salary on top of my salary. The grow gets stacked in full...not squandered.

Living on grow money can be difficult at times unless you're really dialed and perpetual. Even then.. things can happen.

Go for it.. but if you do.. don't be one of those assholes running decent sized crops with nothing put up. I can't tell you how many fools I've witnessed hard up when running large grows. Like WTF do they do with their proceeds? Furthermore.. if you're having to bum money from a friend for lawyer dough.. you're doing it wrong. Double wrong.

I'll always help my friends, but jesus F.... how is anyone broke running 8k?

The biggest obstacle to overcome when droppin out of the real world into a life of crime in a non-med state is how to wash the ill-gotten gains and pay taxes on em.....so.....

It ain`t easy bein cheezy without a structured solution to turn dirty cash into disposable "taxable" income , trust me......IOW......

Before goin all in before the river card`s turned over can fuck up your world and everyone around you if the IRS get`s involved , cuz LEO ain`t shit compared to the "Tax Man"......and yeah....

The biggest factor that FF touched on is the "Lawyer/rainy day emergency fund" in case shit goes sideways.....Goin big without a safety net ain`t the best way there ever was for future financial independence.....bet on it.....I`m just sayin......

Otis.....If you or anyone else that reads this decides to quit their day job without a solid tax base/avenue to mix bad money with good and pay taxes on it , you`re just an accident waitin to happen .....guaranteed.......but.....

It can be done with some thought AND a gameplan to move forward BEFORE you tell corporate America to go fuck off , just make sure there`s actually REAL money flowin into whatever small business venture yas decide on so yas can "cook the books" and show more business transactions and client base than actually happened to file taxes on said cashflow every April 15th.......anyways.....

Sorry to preach guys......I just tryta help from doin this shit most of my life.......My dear departed dope smuggling Uncle taught me waaaay back in the day and it served me well through retirement......

Ya`ll stay careful and safe for you AND your family ......

Peace ......DHF.......:ying:......

Thanks for the input guys. DHF, you definitely have some valid points that I have brought up myself. My my wife has a small business that we have talked about expanding on and working together, but expansions = more work and time spent at the business. We are looking into buying a third property, so we will actually be renting out one of them. I do feel better being able to file a tax return and having a legit income. The biggest thing that is keeping me working, for now, is the fact that I have been putting money into my 401k, which is matched dollar for dollar up to a p point. Because I've been able to squirrel away so much money this year, that day well come sooner than later.

by the way, bonsai heroes FTW!!! Got them this week. Used them for the first time last night. I got as much trimming done in a couple hours as would have taken me days of trimming by hand. I love these things. I have not been this satisfied with a purchase in, well, maybe ever. My life just got so much easier. They are worth every penny.

Bro.....Keep punchin out the 401 K to it`s limit every yr for equal participation , but yas don`t necessarily haveta grow a small business while GROWIN it as long as yas can claim X amounts of "cash sales" per month/yr to wash extra income.......

Simple ....babyshit........If yas got a structured "service biz" say cutting grass/landscape maintenance and yas gotta doctor the books.......Don`t deposit checks from clients.......

Cash em to pay employees and put remaining "cash" in the bank along with the monthly allotment yas feel safe with washin and getting legal.......

Then your personal set of books takes all the extra into account and added across ythe board to each client`s contract as "extras" if the tax man cometh........

Cashin a personal check for services at the bank the check`s drawn on KILLS the paper trail as to how much each client real or fictional pays unless you fuck up and do something stupid to get LEO on your ass then , the next move`s......

Bend over and kiss your ass goodbye........in a non med state......Hell....Cultivation with a previous offense is LWOP down here in Hell........

Ya`ll be careful and smart.....always think ahead.....

Peace.....DHF......:ying:.....

Its coming together, slowly. If I could only put a tail piece on the basement floor to get rid of the pwt. I'm about to drop at least a1000$ on a commercial dehuey. I may or may not be putting co2 in this one. I kind of need to get some plants under those lights. This room has been sitting empty waiting for me to put this ppk clusterfuck together for waaaaay too long. I don't even want to share pics of the plants that have been waiting in beer cups for ages waiting for this build to finish. anyway, a few pics of the ppk construction
