btw lazy, putting my blumats in last night / today. thanks for the inspiration. anyone planning on doing this ill go ahead and repeat whats been said many times already - order at least an extra foot of 3mm tubing for every sensor, more if you roll with larger pots. hey lazy maybe you could rock a helmet lmao. i hate hitting my head so much id probably give it a shot. peace to you and bring on some pics!

Thanks man, yeah i do about 4 feet of line per pot so it gives me more flexibility with placement, and room to make repairs in case a goddamn rat chews the hose again, lol. Good luck bro!

Lazy,

It seems you are anything but lazy. Congrats on the best ever pull and happy new year!

tonk

Thanks Tonk, it's certainly a good start to the new year! I should have another 8-10# pull in 2.5-3 weeks when the next batch is ready. Veg room has lots of Blue dragon and jackpots vegging, and there are 2 crops in preveg, and 8 crops in cloning trays right now. I can't wait to run some more Haze crosses!

oohh and a buddy gave me two cuts of SFV OG Kush from the Cali Connection folks, says it's killer yield, and the dried product was awesome!

ok off to go pick up more alcohol for hash, I have like 3 pounds of trim to go process, hehehe

yeah the SFV and Tahoe cuts are two of my favorites, it's potent, smelly, and messes your head up for several hours. I can't wait! :)

Goddammit, that does make a total of 16 strains on hand. Argh!

ok headin to the basement to spray some Forbid and Greencure on the mid-flower crop, saw a couple little webs on some big fans last night. Damned bugs! Anyone who thinks Floramite/Forbid "sticks around" in plants forever isn't taking into account the fact that 3 weeks after application, there's not enough poison in the plant to kill a microscopic mite. How the F could that be toxic to a 200# person?

I ditched the sprays in flower a long time ago, been using predatory mites for the last year and not looking back. Yeah it costs more it works great and the plants never miss a beat. And yeah it works in 16k rooms with ease.

wait so not sure if you covered this but how did you end up cooling the 16kws ..... still an air cooled system?? Im looking to cool 12kw in my garage soon......just need to bounce some ideas off some of the pros

^^Running 16 k without knowing how to cool it.. I can predict the outcome... The only thing I can offer you is the best of luck..

Howdy Lazyman!

Great show, I am learning alot from reading over this thread. Definitely gonna go with blumats on my next grow...... However I am all organic and do some feedings to them(most of the nutes are premixed in the soil). Is it easy and sensible enough to rig up the blumats so that they could be switched off, hand watered the teas, and then flipped back on again with no hiccups? I understand how to hook em up, and I am assuming that I won't run into any probs since they will sense the moisutre and just start watering as needed.

I've also been reading up on various hash/oil making techniques and QWISO seems to be the most interesting to me. Looks like you have been making large quantities of it, so i thought I would bounce a ? or two off ya...

1. How long of a wash are you doing?

2. What percent iso are you using?

3. Are you grinding/crumbling up your trim or using it as is?

4. Doing one rinse or more?

5. Are you purging with hot plate/hot water or fans or just passively?

Thanks for the help, any other QWISO tips you have would be greatly appreciated!

Just came across a QWISO thread where you go into great detail about your process...... so my questions are already answered! Thanks for sharing so much

I was under the impression that the flowering light cycle causes the predator mites to go into a dormant phase.

Howdy gang, just checking in.

All is well, all of the rooms are at full capacity and the throttle is against the stops since Day 1 of 2011, hoping this will be a good year!

I have a bunch of plants about to go into veg, can't wait to try some of these new girls:

Blackberry cheese
Pure Thai
SSH
G13 X haze
Triple Platinum OG Kush

Have around a dozen or so of each which is perfect, lets me do a couple lights of this and that. Also have quantities of Jackpot and Blue Dragon on hand, and lots of Purple Gorilla clones in my tent right now.

Oh and we lollipopped an entire row of small jackpots, 63 in total I believe, they are about 2-3 feet tall and looking very healthy. Hoping to get 2oz each out of them, they are in 2g smartpots of Coco/perlite with Blumats.

Good question that, friend of mine grabbed it from a local club so I don't know the details. Yeah I'm hoping it works out, I am using Botanicare's ReadyGro Aeration formula, coco/perlite/EWC/guanos etc. I just gotta have something I can use out of the bag, and unamended coco is pretty touchy.

Oh yeah, tally from last harvest:

Row 2 (mix of 10 moms and 20 jackpots) 6.8# total
Row 1 (20 Grape Stompers) 6.03# total

Not bad for no hoods!

Unamended coco locks up a fairly significant quantity of nutes (including N) when new, making it harder to feed young plants. Adding more food for the coco to absorb helps initially, but as it gets loaded up it needs to be tapered off or continued high application of ferts will cause nute burn. Because these properties of coco aren't terribly predictable, it can be challenging for new coco growers. That was my experience with it anyway. Since I have started using amended coco I am seeing more predictable behavior and fewer nutrient issues.

Which brand(s) of coco exhibited this behavior earlier on?

I'm not sure that I can say the same about the B'Cuzz (purple bag) or Canna (Pro+) that I've been using lately.

It's very interesting that you say that, Lazy. I used to use the exact same botanicare 'aeration formula' and i had all kinds of problems with that mix. It wasn't until i switched to B'Cuzz coco (unamended, pure coco) that my garden really took off. Which nutes are you planning to use with the aeration formula, and what ppm's are you feeding initially to let the coco "soak up" the right amount without getting burn? I'm not convinced on your theory of amended coco being better or worse than unamended, but i think it's definitely worthy of discussion.

P.S. To everyone out there who doesn't know already, the new Sun Systems 'Great White' reflector hoods are legitimately the single best innovation in growing technology over the last five years - i'm able to comfortably cover a 6x6 area, and have experimented with 8x8's with astounding results. Where i used to get about 1lb per light, i now get 2.5lb no sweat every time. Absurd!
