So I love to post these music based threads, and now Im goin post on Elvis vs the Beatles. My Elvis vs the Stones thread was fun, but now onto new horizons.

My question goes out to primarily older heads, but anybody can weigh in on this debate.

So who was better and bigger back in the day the King or Fab Four?

I mean all modern music can be related to the Beatles. Theres the 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon, but its like the 2 degrees of The Beatles.

Then again... didn't elvis also create an entire musical movement? Look at the many hits he sang and other songs he made famous that he didn't sing. Plus he's American, if thats your thing..

I'm young, but I'm commenting anyway :D
Beatles were definitely bigger, more worldwide, Elvis is the American rock and roll hero.
I prefer the music of the beatles, a lot more psychedelic and influenced by LSD, marijuana and the like, Elvis to me sounds like cocaine, alcohol and fatty food:laughing:
Both were undoubtedly greats, and musical pioneers, no-one could say otherwise!:tiphat:

Beatles no doubt about it. They had a much more profound and lasting impact and IMHO they were much better as well.

Elvis, I was lucky to have been to 3 of his shows.

American legend that moved an entire nation, & he made some great cheesy movies as well.

The Beatles were basically pretty shit* before Dylan got them stoned, The Beach Boys then inspired them to really raise their game with Pet Sounds. Without those influences the Beatles might have not hit quite the same heights.

bieber is a modern day Donny Osmond.

:laughing:thats more like the truth. word

The King was the f*cking man. Maybe you guys are too young, too old, or just plain rewriting history. Talk to any chick in her 20s when Elvis was big and you'll see he was a Man, no boy. Perhaps he is a pop icon, but thats only because he was one of the first big stars.

Justin Bieber is a teen star, emphasis on teen. Maybe hes cool to kids who are young, like Led zep was or is? How can you be sure. My cousin whos 23 or so doesn't think Harry Potter jokes are funny... at a ll lllll. He thinks making fun of Harry Potter is messed up, while I find it hilarious.

Elvis is tied with Mariah Carry for number one hit singles all time with 18. The Beatles have 7 grammys and an academy award. Both these guys are bigger then Bieber (although Bieber has the most twitter followers of anybody) at least as far as real musical success is concerned.

It's not even close, Elvis was a straight stud.men wanted to be him and women wanted to do him, He was the king and revered by teens and parents alike,The beatles were just pure teeny bopper appeal in their prime and are the actual unbiased true comparison to Bieber. Not to mention if Elvis hadn't blazed the trail in the 50's there would be no beatles.

Pricilla sez Elvis was lousy in bed and parents/authorities hated him because of the fear of out-of-control teen sex inspired by those swivel hips!:moon:

College students and adults loved the Beatles, especially after the Rubber Soul album.

...... but Elvis did have a great romantic singing voice and sexy good looks to match - lots more sex appeal than the Beatles!

thats just the stuff you read, it was more that they thought Elvis acted too umm black. Played with negros and did some gospel, and whites didn't like that one bit in the 50's But when he sang mothers and daughters swooned together and fathers and sons played air guitar together. Both acts gained larger population of adult fans as their careers went on but as far as most influential like I said if not for Elvis there would be no beatles.
