well; everyone knows 'prevent drug use through education' is a known failure ~if anything it promulgates drug use by building curiosity in young minds and enforcing the rebel image/reverse psychology paradigm

Maybe it's an undercover program to enhance experimentation later in life. Kinda like cultivating future guest for the prison system.

My daughter was medicated for 2 and 1/2 years for 'bi-polar disorder' at the prompting of her educators, and after an evaluation with a child psychiatrist.

Needless to say, shit didn't work, we have weaned her off the meds, and she is the happiest kid now, and blossoming more every day.

My husband made a good point tonight when we were talking about this topic, and his thought is that if the insurance providers in this country ever figure out, that an oz. of medicinal cannabis is more effective than prescription medications for things like nausea, pain, cancer management, etc....then perhaps they will apply pressure to change the game and get something effective AND less costly on the market for people to use. But if insurance companies decided to deny reimbursement for things like Zofran, or hydrocodone because they are 3x, 4x more expensive than cannabis...who's gonna be backed into a corner?

The war on drugs has been a dismal failure, that's been painfully apparent for a while...and the next person who wants to secure the presidency after Barack better take a serious look at coming off cannabis prohibition. I think people are ultimately tired of seeing the gov't wasting money on something that is blatantly less harmful than alcohol or prescription meds.

It has and never will be a matter of correcting any childhood problems. Nature never intended us to be fed bottle of pills...Of any kind. It's a matter of Pharmas making untold fortunes from lobbying and any other means to keep the cash flow coming.

In case you've not yet noticed, schools are wholly ineffective/borderline detrimental. All this talk by Obama ''about the kids.'' Truth of the matter is, they could give two shits about us or our kids. We;re sold to the highest bidder, case closed.

The shit is blatant and directly in our face but seemingly, few have the urge to resist it. I'm going to tell the truth. I have an insane intensity to take Xanax. I know enough to leave it alone but in some instances, I get into them and can't leave. I don't do it often, maybe 5 times a year. I'd remain happy as a lark and would overlook every fucked up thing in life, especially the Government stripping our right, daily.

As much as I like them and a few other pills, I don't do them. I've not taken an aspirin in 15 years. My life would likely go by with less stress if I strapped up and got me a few scripts. Fact of the matter is, we were never intended to ingest pills of any sort. Any and every ailment we encounter can be treated naturally.

Keep your kid away from these criminals and away from all drugs...

I totally agree with you, 100%.

I have been less than impressed with the school system our daughter is in, and by comparison to other schools around the Eastern Seaboard, it's a 'great' system!! But the one thing I have learned is that you have to be your child's advocate (because if it was up to the schools, most children would be medicated for one thing or another to make their jobs easier) and your own advocate.

I am an x-ray tech and have worked inside the medical community for 12 years; I do it because I get personal pleasure out of giving of myself to help those that are sick and injured. But it's given me an insight into medicine in general; We really don't have a clue. We don't. We combat disease, and treat the symptoms of a disease, instead of actually trying to eradicate the cause of the disease. And very few doctors will espouse natural remedies because they all get kick backs from drug reps who give them incentives to push their drugs. It basically boils down to ego; man thinks that they can come up with better cures than nature. The fact that it isn't profitable just compounds the disinterest. I tell people about the Gerson Therapy all the time; try holistic medicine if conventional isn't working for you; so far, I've kept my job.

This whole drug thing comes from the same societal dysfunction as homophobic people and the like; we are supposed to be evolved, but we still practice exclusivity when it comes to certain things. When my patients ask me about a certain drug, I just tell them to do their research and look at nature. She's gonna always be better for you than something that was made in a lab.

/sigh

How in the fuck is it possible to be as fucking stupid as we are as a species?

Somebody....anybody....how?

To begin with we are sitting and discussing this on a internet forum instead of going out with a fist, a boot and baseballbat so yeah..

if we as citizens (all over the globe) continue to be passive about our freedom, our rights, our jobs, our sallerys, they gonna fucking take it away.
but just give us enough so we can scrape by, dont change our lifestyle, dont progress and foremost dont fuck them up.

^^^^ This.
When I was 11, the policeman came to my school, and he had his special briefcase, with the plexiglass, and all the different drugs behind it. Samples of different hash and some weed, blotter acid, amphet, Es a wrap of coke and some smacky tinfoil.
It definitely got my curiosity going and I had a shopping list of drugs to try.

Oh, please. Obama isn't much of a Liberal, at all, or even much of a Democrat, sad to say. He's more of an old school Rockefeller Republican in terms of policy. We just thought he was a Liberal. He's not.

I don't see education as a bad thing, at all, provided it's truly science/reality based, and therein lies the rub. A great deal of what people believe simply isn't true, but they think it is, due to having absorbed enormous amounts of propaganda. On the other side of the issues, there's an enormous amount of denial. Even if cocaine, methamphetamine & opiates were free & legal, they're still potentially lethal, and they'll fuck up your head & your life with prolonged exposure to pleasure-seeking dosages.

Let's face it- humans like to get high, to be intoxicated. We always have & always will, from pre-history into the far & unforeseeable future. That varies by the individual, but we wouldn't like MMJ (or any other drugs) nearly as much if the medical effects came w/o the pleasure of it.

MMJ has been useful in the sense that it has demonstrated to the public that nothing bad happens with legal pot. Here in Colorado, it's not difficult at all to obtain a script, and there are some who use that mostly to score for their friends and stay high for free in the process. That's obvious from the amount of herb sold vs the number of patients. If they were all just smoking it themselves, they'd be beyond stoned to the bone 24/7/365. That's an open secret.

OTOH, it has created yet another category of people who want to control it, because they make a lot of money off it- legal dispensaries & medical growers, none of which serves the cause of freedom in the slightest. Many of the restrictive provisions of A64, for example, were created to cater to their interests, keep them in non-opposition, avoiding the bootlegger/baptist coalition that defeated similar measures in California. They're desperately opposed to complete legalization, simply because it would kill their livelihoods or at least demand an entirely new business model. The idea of legal unregulated outdoor growing scares 'em to death.

Well this plan is doomed, if the idea is that they're going to force a whole bunch of people into rehab they will only succeed in proving how ineffective rehabs are. Rehabs don't work, they are a placebo. They are something to convince the people who really want to quit but couldn't before, that something outside themselves was responsible for their recovery. Rehabs have close to a 100% failure rate for those forced into them but didn't really want to "recover". On rare occasions it will work for people who don't really want to be there but 9 times out of 10 they just replace it with some other compulsion.

The failure with the War on Drugs is the same failure we have with healthcare in general. We don't treat causes just symptoms. The cause for drug abuse will never be addressed by government though because it would require politicians to abandon corruption and start actually working to make this country a better place.

--------------------------------------------------------

my cynical brain makes conjuncture to follow.

the release today mentions rehab in conjunction with the affordable care act several times.
when the act was being "debated" i many times suggested the hidden consequences to marijuana users might include forced rehab if one is found to have "illicit substances" in their systems...
seems a step closer.

Sounds like a commercial telling you what you already know; vote Republican and stop living a second-class life.

Piece meal religion; most staunch followers pick and choose what applies and what doesn't... convenient, isn't it? Funny thing is, as long as a doctor prescribes they have no problem swallowing it down.

One thing that these politicians forget is that it's human nature to want to alter your state of consciousness; even from the time we're little kids, we spin in circles until we get super dizzy and fall down...

Why?

Because it's fun!! And we want to keep doing fun things over and over...couple that with physical addiction...rehab is a racket to make money. I have an alcoholic cousin that's been in and out of rehab his entire life. He just spent 6 months on lock down...got out, still drinking.

:fsu:

All it did was give him someone to give his money to, other than blowing it on booze.

Just a general note....

In the case of my Brother and Niece. The school recommended numerous tests for Autism. As I said, this girl is as bright as they come. They picked her apart...She didn't ''jump right, she didn't have enough friends, she wasn't ''outgoing'' enough, so on and so forth. With that criteria, her Parents were terrified.

As all this was going on, they had no problem feeding her trash from McDonalds, frozen dinners and all the GMO shit around.

At no time was it stressed that she eat right, eat real food and none of the horrid side-effects of eating shit was brought up at any time...Just pills and counseling.

Through social training, we've been taught that it's alright to eat shit. Our Government has no inclination to teach/enforce healthy eating or any kind of natural, preventive cures. They've teamed up with Monsanto and Pharmas to only make available trash foods and then bring the Pharmas in to ''repair'' the damage done from eating mutated trash.

If people would only abandon fast food and the 90% of GMO trash in our groceries...Grow their own food, even better yet, demand the Government ban GMO's and all other appalling ''food'', they'd see there is little to no need for prescription medicine. Any and everything we need to be healthy and happy, comes from nature. If Americans were to eat right and get up off their ass and be motivated, no medicine would be needed.

Good point because if you notice, whenever the media finds a case of someone living to extreme old age and being healthier then normal it typically turns out that the only thing that sets them apart is a simple basic, natural diet. I've yet to see the media report of someone living beyond 110 years who ate fast food on a regular basis or that ate heavily processed food on a regular basis. Every time I've ever seen a story like that it's always been someone who lived in a remote location eating naturally produced locally grown food.

Then there is also the release from the stress of a future with very little promise. Look at what the average kid in America faces these days. They're taught from very early on that there is no way they can make a decent living without a college education. So they go to college but it's horribly expensive and so most kids, even if their parents can help, need to turn to the government for a school loan strapping them with a mortgage like debt before they've even secured a job. Then when they complete school they find that there aren't enough college level jobs with decent salaries and so many of them have to snag whatever job they can get, usually having little or nothing to do with their degree to start paying back that loan and to have something to live off of. Since it's well below what they envisioned as a degreed professional they usually have to settle for a crappy place to live with low rent or stay at home with the folks where their personal freedoms are greatly impeded by their parents "rules". If they're not careful they'll soon find that their waking hours are almost completely consumed by just hanging on and they don't have time or energy to really go get a better job. Further if they are like the average young adult they're eager to find a partner and if they aren't careful they can soon find themselves with a spouse and child well before they're ready for such financial obligations those relationships can bring. Which can ultimately lead to being stuck in a shit job that has nothing to do with what they studied and payed tens of thousands to learn. With prospects like that it is no small wonder drug abuse is so rampant in our country.

I wish there was some way we could have seen Mitt Romney run America, without him actually running America. Like a parallel universe or something. Just for laughs. I wonder if America would be even slightly different. I was all for Obama, but so much for "change".
