all that being said I have seen some amazing things come from hermi plants and those

"shady mofos" sometimes have a special touch, everything will get sorted out in the end and those who are producing crap will get cast aside that's how the market works and until we have true freedom in this country we all have to "weed" out the not so good ones from the exeptional ones...my opinion is that if you truly do have something worth sharing it will bring itself to the top. Let those who suck find there spot in the world and doubtful it will be in the same circle that is at the top. Like micro brews, or good scotch it all comes down to quality everytime. My suggestions stay away from those that are trying to make a fast buck they will burn out soon enough!

Soon we will begin to understand chromatin modelling
in the context of a series of images over the plants' lifetimes.

Then we'll begin to understand stress response
and how to select for potential traits as well as expressed ones

The DNA itself is the storage medium,
what we need to understand better is how it is unlocked
to find the important bits which are more important markers.

It's not a simple question to ask "what parts of the huge genome should I select for?"
and the answer is far from simple - I believe it's a series of cross references,
like

A) select these 2'800 markers for best performance in hot dry summer
B) select these 2'400 markers for best quality in cooler summer
C) add these 880 markers for best mould resistance but 15% less yield
D) select these minimum 1600 markers

dozens of conflicting best answers
So really the best answer is the other way around
you scan each plant/embryo/cell group in culture
it beeps and gives a sort of graphic equaliser of expected trait strengths. Maybe it should go 'ping' rather than beep, more professional.

to me the real breeders are the ones who take time to learn as much as they can about genetics and variation and odds and selection from seed to harvest. Sounds like your bashing tom for doing a good job with his work. And you get mad when tom tells you to stop being arrogant because you can't understand what he's talking about. Leave the meta genetic gene pool alone, i hope none of your seeds ever make it into circulation, too many of you people thinking they are breeders without putting any actual though into it. because you fell in love with a plant because YOU made it, who cares ur not the judge the people are. and from what i can see(havnt tried toms gear yet) people like his stuff. more likely to take advice from someone who has experience rather than some illiterate jester.

Weird, you're asking the wrong questions. It does not matter all this regurgitation of quantitative genetics, the answers remain the same. It does not matter your taste in cannabis, the answers, the techniques and methods remain the same. In the area of science, what you claim has the most value, is only given an X, that's what your art is worth. What degree and with what dispatch that X is expressed, is what I am talking about.

I could state as I feel you did earlier with your seeded ChemD that this (my love for my garden)
picture.php

plus that (my love's love for hers)

and all the things that led to those things, equals everything that is perfection to me in my art of selection. But it would seem to me a somehow cheap conversation in the eyes of others. Wouldn't it serve more folks to have an intelligent conversation about cannabis? I think so.

PS, nice garden darling ;) you rule.

Not a word! learn to spell (because that is shocking)do you have halitosis from talking shit? as well your spelling being atrocious? Tom has lines out that have stood the test of time, hence others have crossed to them and released the resulting hybrids.. and others have just plain ripped his shit off! Are people doing that to what weird has to offer us? what will this tell us? we could just go look at some of TomHills grows from the past or in one of the outdoor threads etc.. how you gonna do this wank off? you gonna be making sure both growers have the exact same environments? this is just horseshit that proves other than certain people are idiots, nothing!!!! I'll tell you what you are talking Lemon friggin Larry - SHIT!

either you're a cop or stupid old bitter hippie !
keep growing you're swagy herb proably filled with spider

Stickshift (it took me a while to know who you were lol) is every bit as versed on these subjects as I am, he is a friend to cannabis, and you'll never see him riding dick that's for sure, he's got huge nuts. He is right (re the worthlessness of a "growoff"), and you are wrong Larry, it's as simple as that. Likewise, anybody who thought that was an idea to gain insight to the topic, including weird, doesn't understand the subject at all.

...not that I wouldn't absolutely SPANK in that endeavour hehe, it's just that it wouldn't prove anything.

Matt you have picked up a book or two, learned some vocabulary, but you really don't seem to have understood wtf you were reading. Instead, you went and read thoughts of folk like Nev and are now trying to meld the two together in finding some kind of knowledge you can call your own - but those two things meld together like oil and water lol. If you don't understand how to massive advantage a breeder can use reversal techniques (and you're not even close) then I am not going to walk you through it. Here's a hint, it's in the books you're learning all that vocab from, not in Nev's et al dribble.

lolol

kinda seems like the 'grow-off' has long since been over and the detractors are just mad that they lost {likely by a wide margin}

well I finally finished reading all 68 pages. it would have been much more enjoyable and productive if i had started by putting Weird and Mate Dave on ignore, but hindsight is 20/20 I guess. regarding Tom i didnt start off with a good opinion of him before this thread. he said something in another thread a while back that pissed me off, and i remember thinking he was an idiot and an asshole. after reading this thread i realize i was wrong. the dude has just dropped tons of knowledge of people's heads and some folks are too stupid to recognize it. if you don't understand what he's saying, read it again until you do.

Weird by his own admission has a severe learning disability, yet he wants to sit here and try to argue with an expert with years of experience? and post up pics of some small work he did back in '99 like that makes him an expert today? come on dude. take a dose of humility and sit down, shut up, and listen. or if nothing else....PLEASE learn to condense your posts down into digestible chunks. there is literally nobody on this thread who cares enough about your opinion to read and respond to your 30 paragraph rambling essays. if you would edit and condense your thoughts down to a manageable size, with a high ratio of information to word count, then maybe people would actually care to read and respond. as of now you keep asking so many vague and unanswerable questions and jumping from one thing to the next, that nobody even wants to try.

and as for Mate Dave......wow......i have never seen a truly ignorant person's posts drip with such egotism. if there is any single person in this thread who could benefit most from a good acid trip, it's that guy. hard to believe such an angry and arrogant person could actually be a cannabis smoker.

Thanks man, sincerely. I am not under the illusion that my dilivery is always on point (and I hear those of you folks pointing that out, agreed), but it's nice to know that we can talk about cannabis anyway from time to time. At least, some of us can. ;)

Nice BD Tom, and is that eu hemp? or canadian? either way nice. Im guessing eu by the way the car in the background looks.

I agree with both, its a feel for science of growing that will tip the scale in your favor, if you let it.

It is the hemp varietal finola I believe. The mother of my child (due 4/20!) has a government's authority/backing to grow and extract medicine from it, but I'd rather have her elaborate if she chooses.

B

It's amusing how many people believe they have the mystical quality of 'the eye' for selecting fine plants.

And funny how other people believe them. lol

Anyway, carry on, folks....

If that's all one (thinks they) have, of course they're going to pump up the (supposed) importance of it, no real mystery there...
