moonshine mix

ok so i picked them up, i also got a jack hearer x sweet cindy.

they had to order the planting mix in for me at the hydro store so i just planted the rooted clones straight into light warrior in 1/2 gallon containers. i saw people earlier in the thread saying that that's fine for the first couple weeks, right? seeing as it's soilless does that mean i'll be watering a lot more? or should i pull the clones out and amend with a little ffof (maybe in the bottom)? idk...

i picked up a little T5 which i was planning on keeping them under for 5-10 days before i throw them outside during the day.

should i not have gone into just light warrior?

Leave them in the present soil. The soils fine, just keep an eye on it.If you feed them later just go lite at first then move up.Watch the over watering!Good luck

MSM Rocks!

MSM Rocks!

:laughing:Just thought I'd drop in and give some love to the MSM thread!
:thank you:
Just finished my first run using this mix and wanted to give a little feedback for anyone thinking about trying it out in the future.

My version:
one bag each FFOF, FFLW and FFPM,
5 gal regular perlite (sifted to remove dust)
5 gal earthworm castings
1 cup Happy Frog Fruit & Flower 5-8-4

Mixed it all up REALLY WELL, then filled my fifteen 3gal grow bags about 3/4full. Transplanted in rooted clones waiting in 16oz party cups of plain FFLW. Watered em' in with a nice drink of EWC & Mollasses tea. Vegged three days until I saw new growth on the babies, then flipped the 12/12 switch!

I top dressed with 1tbs per gallon of Happy Frog Fruit & Flower after two weeks flowering. Applied a 2" layer of organic mulch. I used EWC & Mollasses tea for every watering. THAT'S ALL!

It was absolutely simple. I saw NO DEFICIENCIES and NO GROWTH RATE DECELERATION. The fan leaves began to yellow and drop as the flowers began to ripen. It was a thing of perfection :artist:

This run I am going with LC's #1 Mix. Wanted to try something cheaper and more customizable. Glad I gave the MSM a try because it will be a relatively easy back up mix in case my mixing experiments go badly.

Thanks again for posting this tread Mista and to everyone who has updated it along the way.

First, thanks for a great thread mysta177! I'm a newbie that's never done a grow yet but I'm in the process of reading a bunch and planning my first grow. Organics is the right choice for me and this mix seems to be a great way to start. I bought the ingredients and have 2 quick questions for any of you that are familiar with this mix.

from post #187 pge 13:

The mix ....1bag each...
Ocean Forest
Planting Mix(BAtguano-earthwormcastings)
Light Warrior
5 -6 gallons Chunky Perilite
1 Cup Peace of Mind Fruit and Flower (yellow box)
1 cup Peace of Mind Starter Mix (light blue box)

"I am now using the original mix from Seedlings/clones all the way through flower....." MSMan

-------------------------------------------

1. When msman says he's using the above mix 'seedling through flower', does that mean mix all 6 ingredients together right from the start including the sprout/seedling stage, OR mix the 3 bags/perlite but use the POMs later as appropriate during veg and flower?

2. As stated in post #5, for good growth and development transplants are key to this mix, and so I'm planning to up-pot twice. I have an indoor micro grow setup for 1 - 3 auto dwarfs. My large containers are 3/4 gal (93 FLoz) and will hold the plant from flower through harvest. I need to scale the other 2 container sizes to reflect my small space.

Does this look reasonable: 9oz (first week/sprout) => 32oz (weeks 2-3 veg ) => 93oz (week 4 - harvest)

I'd really appreciate help from someone with growing experience.

i used the FF. still do but i mix my home made organic soil with river fish and live worms with it. Ocean Forest burns my plant everytime. they always look like i over ferted and i dont even own ferts, or a ph kit. just the test liquid like yours. when my plant looks like that, i mix 56grams of Epson salt in 1 gal of water. that solves it. and when you ph down, ph down to 5, to 5.5. a little bit orange. once it gets into the soil, it raises to 5.5 or 6 because by law, tap ph cant go over 8 i think it is, and its usually right there, but your soil is worse. i ph the runoff from FF and it has to be hella orange to bring the runoff ph up. i gave up on that one because, if you test the first runoff, then drain the runof and test the new runoff, its different, thus, the longer the water sits in the soil, the higher the ph will climb. by the way, it was just a couple of times. i dont water till it runs out the bottom. just a few drops. flushing everytime you water is a good way to leach your soil.

56 grams of Epson Salt in 1 gallon and ph'ed will cure that burn. if your leaf tips turn down, like the Claw, or are twisting, and lots of crimson on leaf stalks, use the salt. FF Ocean Forest is rich. now i mix 3 of my personal, to 1 FF Ocean Forest. it works. youll have to find your own ratio because youll use diff personal soil. my personal is rich because i made it, but FF is richer. if you buy reg potting soil, maybe half and half or 2:1. to be honest, im starting to think FF sux! because 100% of my own soil works better than pure FF. also what helps, ph at 5. in the soil it will rise to 5.5 or 6.

Ff is great just stay away from happy frog. Kush does great in MSMix all the way thru. This miz you'll always come back to because it going to produce tastier buds fosho. If your going commercial of course you can pump it up but not my style. The key is to not use nutes but a hoist in weeks 3,5&7 don't dO much harm;). Outdoor recycled MSM was off the hook clubs thought it was indoor haha. You can tweak this mix as much as you want but in the end the less the better EXP with these Cali kush's!

FF is very good, i just think its me screwing it up so much. i noticed that, the less you mess with something, usually, the better off it is. its all in the prep work. dont jump right in. plan it all out and when it pops off, your not really needed, generally speaking of course. i also noticed that it sortof depends on the plant genotype. i had a plant that didnt give a damn what i did, it grew 3" a day in yard dirt. another different seed, under the same conditions, grew slow and unhealthy. i notice this because i only do 1 plant at a time in the same room with the same equipment always. im on about my 30th plant in 5 years. you think our tap water changes? by the way, i dont veg. thats a waste of time, soil, water and $$$. veg is bullshit unless you have nothing but time and want a tree or bush. mine go into flower when its 4 or 5" out of the ground. 5gal, 5 branches. that way, no transplanting. this time im going to try a 2gal, and transplant to a 5, halfway through flower. whataya think?

I'll preface this by apologizing for all the questions...

So what is the latest and greatest version of this mix? Id love to hear from Moonshine or Mysta if possible. Is it the version on the rare dankness website now? And what exactly do you guys do in veg? I also hear people talking about the POM starter mix. Are you using that with seedlings or putting it in the veg or bloom mix? Do you guys use dolomite lime in your mix (if so, with seedlings too)? Thanks!

Looking for advice

Looking for advice

Hey guys,

Third time grower. Second time I will be using MSM mix. I am interested to hear back on the nutes and dolomite lime questions above as well.

I have great faith in this mix. My last run they looked absolutely gorgeous until halfway through flower. Green, strong, growing quickly. Then all of a sudden they yellowed, dropped about 80% of their leaves and essentially stopped producting.

Hoping someone here has had a similair experience. I am chalking it down to windburn from a new fan and possibly some def.

Anyone here flowering without issue in 3 gallon pots? Also how many TBS per gal of soil are you guys using on POM? Read an MSM quote rec 5 gallon but last grow the roots were just starting to reach bottom.

Peace Love and Happy Growing!

On the rare dankness site the latest recipe for the mix says 2lbs earthworm castings... should I convert that to a volume measurement of 8 cups ? ?
