New room using LED's

Well its been awhile since I have been on due to a fire at our home caused by negligent workers doing a flat roof job at our house setting the roof on fire. Anyways we are almost back in and I have decided to go with led to avoid heat problems , also going to be running this room as a sealed environment no venting as it is a rather large grow room and I am only going to be using a total of 820w actual draw led lights . Did a bunch of research and although the companies owner doesn't have the best reputation HGL I have seen excellent results with there older products , verdantgreens, also a test grow by Settingsun so there equipment seems sound and with there new modular design and the fact I can do the diagnosis and repairs on the light myself I think I will have no problems with the warranty . Anyways I bought there newest penetrator 336x pro and a 189 x pro . I made up a diagram in paint to show you the layout and size. Just click for larger view.
Anyways In the 6 x 6 x 7 room I am placing the 336x ,my carbon filter and a C.A.P ozone generator. I plan on using a Cap Grandstand with a reservoir rack underneath putting the table on casters for easy of getting around the table and same for the smaller rooms table stand where the 189x is going. I have also added a 70pint per day dehumidifier , 75gpd 5 stage ro with reserve tank , 20lb co2 tank with Cap 3 ppm controller , I also am placing float valves in my resevoirs and adding a back up reservoir high enough to operate on gravity to keep everything topped up even. The entire grow area has also received a esa approval ,Power available 16 120v receptacles , 2 220v outlets which I have pre installed digital timers . For air flow I am installing 2 air king 2 axis oscillating fans as in they oscillate up and down and side to side in a rotating motion. To ensure that the temps stay even as well as co2 between the 2 rooms there will be 2 ellicient 300cfm fans drawing air from the floors on each side and ducted to the top of the opposing room.

Only thing I am wondering is if tables is SoG like I normally do or to use buckets with modular screens and scrog the plants for better yield and nug density. Anyways any input is appreciated as right now the room is only wiring , framework and insulation , so Any changes that seem Like they might be more beneficial I wamt to make before I finish the rooms construction. But main thing is while the walls are only covered in foam insulation does anyone think these lights will be able to take my room past 90F as I plan on using co2 at 1500ppm's I know optimal temp is around 85f, but in a room of this size anyone experienced with this type of lighting think I will run into temp problems , being from central Ontario.

Have an update with construction pics as well as the lights now, you will have to excuse the pics only had a phone cam to take the pics with so perspective isn't so great. Anyways first pic is the view from the door,
picture.php

This pic from the door shows the depth going back 10' I couldn't get the left side of the room in the frame but from where the room narrows in the pic to the door way is 6 x 6 x 7.5'
Next pic some wiring for the wiring guys .

PLumbing for my 12"x18 Sink.

picture.php

This shows the back area which is 3 x 4 x7 the sump you see will be removed shortly leveling the floor once inspectors say we can install sub floor all the plumbing will be under the floor and behind the walls, however having the sump in this room give me easy access fro draining resevoirs as the plumbing empties into my backyard garden. ALso as this room is a basement room the sump provides a natural source of cooling as the water welling up here is from below the houses foundation, in the past 40 years living at this home this room has never been warmer then 65f.
picture.php

A little bit better view of the smaller area in the back the aluminum studs are on 24 inch centers the 2x4 in the pic is on 16 inch with gives this area actually 40"x 48"x 7" . As you can see at the top right the room drops down suddenly to about 5' this is because this entire area is underneath a stair case which will explain the angle of the roof in the next pic.
picture.php

Anyways this area with the weird roof and the space shown in the pic previous will be for storage of nutrients, dehumidifier ,co2 Tanks , etc.

OKay continuing hate this only 5 pics per post thing.

More wiring pics,

These are just air conditioning ducts which will have triggered opening and closing vents if temps go above 90. Putting in heaters incase it is to cold as well.

Well so far that's it for pics of the room once its done and everything is in place I will have an L shaped growing space made of a 6'x6'x7.5 area and 4'x40"x7.5' and then the space under the stairs for storage with the angled roof brings this room up to a total space of about 400 cubic feet. As far as growing system I have been looking into any oxyponics Pro six not going to mention who sells or makes it as I don't really want to get into endorsing anything what I buy is what I buy if people don't like it oh well. Anyways my main intrest is they have an extra 3 pot add on as the way it comes it states it will fit a 3 x 4 -4 x 4 footprint depending on plant size which is supposedly perfect for the led panel I purchased not many people are fans of them and for there own reasons but I can say delivery was prompt ,there were 3 broken fans from shipping which were replaced within 3 days of me calling about it. Anyways as I was allowed to open them up for maintenance without voiding my warranty I will find the pics I took of the internals which really impressed me with the thickness of the fins on the heat sinks, the number of fins as well as the 6 quality cooling fans inside , and although I did say 3 were broken after getting them out I saw that they were only broken due to pressure from above which would have been my other led panel, Anyways I was able to actually repair the broken fans with crazy glue and now have 3 spares incase I have any other problems.
Anyways in the next post will be pics of the new lights I bought if your not a fan of HGL please don't heckle me I did research and even with some of what I found out and the fact I am a legally licenced Canadian grower and I have the power of buying my lights by cc which will make them follow there warranty or refund me my money I am pretty confident. Also I do have to mention when I first looked into the lights I was going to buy 2 of there best panels when asked about my growing space Donnie suggested I should actually only get one of the top panels and then the next light down saving me $700 right off the top from what I was prepared to pay. SO so far there customer service is working well for me. Anyways next few posts will be of the lights . So like I said if not a fan maybe pass this buy.

Okay so in these pics are the 189x pro extreme it has 189 3w led's the label says the board has an operational wattaged between 320-345w.The 3 pics with lights in operation show them in sequence of .5 1w and 3w setting if you notice in the first pic there is a noticeably more blue color and as you turn it up to 1w you notice the 740nm far red led's come on . My hd camera did quite a bit of filtering but when I took the pics with a 3mpixel camera the lens flare was massive. And even after 5 minutes after turning out the light my eyes were still adjusting like when you come inside during the summer. Next post will have both lights running side by side using the link mode just to test it out.

Both panels a 189x and a 336x pro running side by side at .5w
picture.php

Now at 1w notice how the spectrum is more violet in this picture and more blue in the previous pic both taken from 7 feet away with 24" from canopy being optimal I guess you can imagine how bright these are when you get up close to them.
picture.php

And now at 3w even more violet personally I think these lights seem well made in my opinion after working in warranty repairs at IBM for 15 years I can say that these lights sure are built like tanks very heavy heat sinks and the 336 weighing in at 21lbs and the 189 around 14lbs

Oh I realize in the beginning of this journal I mentioned using drip tables but due to area constraints Is why I mentioned I am thinking of going with the oxyponics system being its easier to move things around for maintenance and the pots will probably make a better fit for the space I have allowed.

I'm looking forward to see how the oxyponics system performs. Looks to be a great plan so far. Good luck with everything.

Thanks much will still be awhile as all the walls still have to go up and all the final wiring , there actually going to be a few more surface run wiring run around the room , just so if we decide to sell the house nobody else other then another indoor gardener is going to need 2 220v outlets and 11 115 outlets, so running the surface lines one the wall so we can remove them if need be at a later date.

Thanks I hope so too I was planning on going to use an oxyponics 6 hoping that they have and add on for 3 more buckets but nothing. So My next choice was C.A.P ebb and grow 12site but ill only be using about 8-10 of the buckets as my room has such a weird shape I don't think I can get all 12 in with proper coverage from the lights or give me enough room to move around. I am considering the idea of SCroG grow so if anyone has used this system in scrog would love some input on how many buckets you would put under a light with a 4 x 4 foot print and how many will fit under a 3 x 3 .

Also I had an idea for res cooling that I wanted to run by the DIY'er's out there , If you notice in the pics above there is a sump in this room that will be covered by sub floor when room is done but my question is it is 3 feet deep and about 18 inches across , the water here is from the water table below the foundation of the house so always cold in the summer when I have had to change the sump before the water is usually just under 60 degrees , anyways I was thinking of lining the walls of the sump with about as much 1/2" black polly as I can get to circle the inside of the sump leaving two end out, once the floor is down I should be able to connect a pump to the line in the sump and have it circulate the warmer res water thru the 25' or so of hose I think I can fit around the circumference of a 18 inch diameter by 3 foot deep well, I think this may offer a natural cooling solution anyone think it would work?

Short update no pictures for a little bit , The room is now drywalled and mudded waiting on final sanding before I prime the walls, afterwich I will be tiling the floor in a dark brown floor tile which will hide stains and to make if I get a flood I am also tiling 12" up the wall this should create perfect drainage to the floor drains I installed in case of emergency, Also after trying to source the cap ebb 12 or the oxyponics system with 12 sites the price was way to high. So instead I have purchased a Active Aqua 12 from www.ecogrow.com along with my cap 3 ppm controller and cap 1 co2 regulator with solenoid, and 2 4' hydrofarm lightrails . They even thru in a free 125w cfl brightwing reflector and bulb , 2 pairs of lumigrow glasses , and 5'x 15' trellising landed price in Canada $1075 , a cap ebb and grow at my local hydro shops however is $930 the cap 3 ppm monitor 589 , regulator 214, light rails 185 each the glasses 45 a pair and the brightwing 99 for a total buying local of $2300. So it does pay to shop around . The active aqua is a very cool ebb system as the buckets have leg raising it about 1.5" about the ground and fills from the bottom instead of the side , so a little ebb and flow netting at the bottom of the bucket and no root blockages. So once the mudding and painting is done ill post some pics of the room painted and with if all the gear has arrived ill run a full installation pictorial.

Just posting this schematic that gives a better layout of the room using the active aqua grow and flow its a little out of scale but not to far off .

I am interested in seeing how this might work. I have thought about doing somewhat the same thing only burying the poly tube in the dirt of my crawl space. I had thought about piping that thru a heat exchanger (automobile radiator) and use a fan to help cool my room in summer.
I think underground dirt is around 57 degrees, and my usual temp in the basement is around mid 70's during the summer. I would use the lower temp crawl space air to push thru the radiator.
Good luck

I have used your coil type arrangement to cool beer whort when making beer. It worked quite well. I would hook a copper tube coil to the tap water, and set the coil in the beer to cool it after cooking the grain.

Okay so thought I would describe the image I forgot to earlier the larger area shows the buckets for the ebb and flow system it will actually take up a 4 x 6 space in the 6 x 6 room in the diagrams you will see too lines running between the pots those indicate the light rails I am placing the led's on. My thought is as one led as a 4 x 4 foot print and the other a 3 x 3 by overlapping the to and use of the mover It will disperse the light more evenly especially that sweet spot that is generally directly under light.

One question I have for other led growers is as you most know keeping heat up to the 80's can be challenging especially in northern climates like up here in Canada. Anyways Although on other forums I have mentioned I am going to be running co2 supplementation using a cap 3 ppm controller I keep having people tell me I should still have fresh air coming in .Now correct me if I am wrong but if the max temp of the room only gets to 82-84 max and I am keeping co2 between 1200 and 1500 is there any reason at all to introduce outside air to my environment other then when I have to go into the room?

Also had another update ordered my seeds. As we are going to be going back into the house after the renovations I am going to run one crop of autoflowers namely Auto seeds candy kush , if anyone has grown these input would be great.

As the room will be running 18/6 or 20/4 for the autos I will also be starting some feminized Reserve privada og 18 , reserve privada skywalker kush, a medijuana jack 33 and a toxic blue 33 to get myself some mothers ready to take clones from .

So if anyone has grown these strains and has any info about growing them like if they preform well with lst, scrog etc, would love some input especially if there is anyone out there familiar with phenos in these strains that are especially good to look for.

Just a small tad of info at one point during the reno of the home it seems we picked up a 4' x 100' roll of reflectix so I am planning on using this instead of flat white on the walls , if anyone has used this stuff before would love to hear about if you found it reflective enough.

All my seeds showed up on friday seems like attitide thru in some extra seeds as what arrived was 6 og 18 ,6 skywalkker kush,6 purple wreck, 1 toxic blue, 1 medijuana jack 33,lemon og kush, blue og , purple maroc, 20 candy kush , 1 auto candy cheese, 10 grand daddy puple regular , and 10 bay 11 regular seeds from kens grand daddy purple. So I think after the fire I finally have good enough genetics to start over growing my personal and my hobby breeding.
