I was leaning in the same direction abirdintheair.. was thinking more like approx. 50/50 coco/perlite and maybe lining the bottom of the containers with hydroton or more perlite lol - hempy style.. haven't decided just yet tho.. but the grows I have seen on here using coco have been nothing short of amazing!.. which makes me even more anxious to venture into newer green pastures lol

coco def is where its at, Im having a hard time switching myself though from the LC when I get almost 2oz out of a two quart container also have kicked around thoughts of adding one or two 5 gal DWCs to the room just for shits and giggles.

I love coco. Made the switch last year and I couldn't be happier with it.

As for vape pens. Guys, please stop wasting your money on these re-branded ecigs. You're overpaying when buying those kits. Just grab a $15 egoT battery and pair with a $10 cart. Now you have a better vape pen for 3x less money.

I'll be playing with coco myself this year but im going to wait till fall to get it going.I might just start with a few plants till i feel i got a handle on it.
As for e pens i got 2 ego-w's for around 40/$50 bucks.I guess its the g pen rebranded.

Actually I plan on using veg+bloom 1 part from hydroponic research.. stuffs working out great for me so far .. Currently I use tap water(hard - 210ppms).. been thinking of investing in a RO system.. what are good things to look for in one when making purchase choice? don't need one that makes 100 gallons a day or anything.

I loved the vortex I grew a couple years back from TGA.. was deff. some nice stuff, uplifting + long lasting sativa high w/ some body mixed in, good fruity flavor and a pungent smell that I couldn't put a finger on & completely sugar coated almost glass like when finished.. had a cool triangle/spear shaped bud structure.

what kind of smells you getting off of yours? and what do u think of it so far? I still have a pack put away.. your pix are making me want to dust them off lol

I feel you guys on the bubba x's.Im going to be getting some i made with cali connections bubba bx2 popping after my nl5/haze project this summer.
As for the strain DeoXy its sour grape kush that i sent seeds in a few years ago for the server fund.This is the most potent pheno ive found in the seeds with the few ive popped over the years.It seems to be more dieselish with the grape on the end in taste and high.I still need to start dialing her in since im going to keep a mom for a bit but i have plenty of time for that.The purple and pink have shown its self every run so far so i dont think its from cold temps.
Glade to hear your clone rooted bird,i just got around to doing some cloning myself.Good luck with the other clone.

I'm not too sure on what systems to recommend, as ive never run an ro system before, but i would imagine something easy to install would be key, at least for me.
I used tap water from Lake Michigan, which was high quality but still had about 100ppms (mostly calcium carbonate). RO gives you more control over what you feed your plants, and should result in less saltier pots (my smartpots would be crusted with white residue when i cleaned them after a harvest). One Colorado grower i know said switching to RO made the biggest difference in quality for him. But its not like you can't grow good weed without RO, so...

I really like the Vortex so much so that i've kept this cut around for the last few grows. Pretty much just like you said, it's a nice sativa that finishes in about 8 weeks. Super frosty, potent, makes some killer hash. What more could you want?

abirdintheair, nice job on poppin those pre 98 crosses. The Bubba usually tends to shine through making for some potent, tasty herb.

upgrading to 1000w. if i can get my 400hps off my hands to a buddy who wanted it, i may just buy a 400mh and tag team it to my 600 for added blue light spectrum.

I stopped using my organic soil/ebb n flow 3x3 tray.. it was good while it lasted because of its low-maintenance but i'm not planning any vacations so i figured id stop wasting the extra 1x1 i could be getting in light if i just hand watered.

Planning a move to a larger city within 6-12 months, so it looks like i might have my tent somewhere in an apartment now as opposed to an owned house. i don't think it should be too bad to make the transition when the time comes, who knows, maybe ill upgrade massively come this time next year.

Ive been mono-cropping my own poly-hybrids, and i dont order many seeds, so the goal for 2013 is to acquire some excellent genetics, hopefully by swapping cuts, but if it comes down to it i might just buy a few beans here and there. I honestly just think its a PITA to go seed shopping if you cant use a card or other methods.

Other than that, my gardening already is in full force and its only March. I work at a greenhouse, so naturally, i get all the freebies and goodies..

Since working there I've aquired probably 200 4" pots, 30 1 gal pots, and a great deal of cloning/germ trays we use for exotic annuals. I'm doing a small experiment between 190 cell trays, 108 cell trays, and 24 and 56 cell trays. The different widths and depths hopefully will help me determine a decent size.

Just aquired a few LA Confidential seeds, so I'm really happy to have a solid indica to put me to sleep after a long day of work..

Besides that, I'm running my polyhybrids I made myself, Gemini Sunrise and Sour Gemini. Those names are obviously the least of my worries when it comes to titling my strain, so maybe I'll rename it something better one day.

I'm just rambling... but hey, I see GS cookies are starting to make the rounds in my area. Don't know if it is the 'real' cut but I have a 1/4 now of the supposed strain and I'm knocked on my ass real bad...

any of you got the cookies?

Yea I might look into buying one as my tap is kinda shitty and deff. hard @ 210ppms.. we also get our water from lake michigan but its also mixed with water from the water reclamation plant.. I can't drink it without filtering it.

As far as bigger for 2013? I will be ordering a second 600w system in a week bringing me up to 1200w and setting up both lights for flower in a area outside the tent.. and switching the tent over for veg./mother/clone use.. get kind of a perpetual thing going.

Also Baba nice mushie grow!... your making me want to pull out my spore prints and prep some spore syringes.. then knock up some popcorn .. don't forget to take spore prints(if you don't already) of a couple fresh caps when your done so you can make your own syringes and save money.. I usually just put a few fresh caps face down on some foil squares with a glass over them.. leave it over night and wala you got a spore print on the foil.
