Ur Humbl Nr8tor – It’s good to see the progress that you are making.

I had a bit of a setback with mine. I’m about 90% sure that the one individual that I have growing is a male. It will be late in the summer or next fall before I have room to start some of these seeds again. I’ll be counting on you to help satisfy my interest in this strain.

I’m going to keep my male and test it by breeding it to my SAGE cutting. I’m using the SAGE as a control mother to test males of various strains. The SAGE has very good quality in most respects, especially the high, but only medium potency. If the daughters bred from males I’m testing can improve potency while maintaining quality, then I’ll keep the male for future breeding.

Below are some pictures of the Purple Oldtimer’s Haze x Meao Thai male. My photography skills are seriously lacking, but the second picture has become a bit of a hit, relative to my other photographs. Most of my postings are by attachments, and this site shows how many downloads are made from them. The second image below gets well over one hundred downloads a week. None of my other attachments even come close.

I think the attachment is popular because it is a beautiful strain, its Haze and Thai, and at the time I took the second image, I had the fertilizer level dialed in perfectly, and the plant just shimmered in good health. I see that the apical meristems and young leaves in your pictures have that same glow\presence\aura in it also. I think this strain has the magic. I tried to goose up the fertilizer level a tiny bit and the plant became much less happy. This strain really is sensitive to fertilizer levels, like most pure sativas.

All the Best,

ThaiBliss

Thanks for stopping by Quiet Riot and govnaa. ThaiBliss, a sexy male if that is indeed what you have.

Here's some photos from today at 5 weeks since 12:15/11:45. I will drop light by 15 minutes in another week.

First, a cabinet shot.

picture.php

You're right govnaa, a nice selection to play with. The pre 98 bubba will be done in 4-5 weeks with the unknown GDP clone looking like a couple more after that. As for the hazes, well we've got a ways to go there...

Pure Purple Haze

I really need to up pot this into a larger smart pot. I hope to do that this week. I just want to make sure the stretch is finished.

Purple Haze Thai from 3b mom...haze leaning pheno.

I'm not sure what expression we are seeing with this plant. It's definitely not the haze side. Larger dark leaves with ruffles. Tissue is also much less woody. I've yet to get a clone to root while the 3b was no problem.

To compare the haze and haze hybrids...here is a sativa leaning hybrid supposedly of a GDP origin.

picture.php

She will be done several months before the hazes.

And a swelling pre98 Bubba flower with less than 5 weeks to go...

...and waiting in the wings.

I've got an Ace purple haze x thai cut from the 3a mother in here as well as a single Ace panama seedling (other seed was white and didn't sprout). I've also got some more F-13 and a couple Strawberry Diesel from close to 10 years ago. Will likely sprout another Panama or two to ensure I've got at least one female to flower out.

Like ThaiBliss, I also think I've got a male, but still not totally confirmed. I did take a cutting and stick in in some soil. Roots showed in about a week. No hormones, no bubbler, just a cutting, some soil, and a nice tropical environment. Amazing plants.

Save the males if they show promise. These haze and haze hybrid lines breed a lot of females!

A few more shots from yesterday.

The Purple Haze

Slight floral/fruit aroma. It looks further along than the PHT's.

And a next up shot.

Top right is Panama, bottom right is PCK (the two on the left are Strawberry Diesel from the original release).

Yep, it's great to see both cannabis spectrums flowering in the same place! You are growing lovely indicas and sativas genetics together UHN, have you ever think to pollinate the hazes with your kushes ?

ThaiBliss, thanks for the kind words. The purple haze has indeed "jumped the shark" in bud formation, but she is yellowing and dropping fans at a rate I deem too fast. I wanted to up pot her, but these fabric Smart Pots are not very conducive, unless you cut the plant out of them. So, I filled up a larger smart pot and stuffed it inside. Not ideal, but we will see how she responds. I also swapped out the HPS for a MH to finish the more indica leaning plants and to see if that light change may be of benefit to the pure haze. The haze x thai's seem fine in the HPS/Fluoro light. 4b is a nutrient sensitive beast. Very strange this one. 3b PHT is looking just right. Dark green with minimal signs of over fert. Much less stretch than pure purple haze or PHT 4b.

I may try to run a plant or two outdoors this fall. We will see how that goes. If so, pure purple haze and the 3b PHT are the lead candidates.

Cheers,

Sideshow,

Glad you liked the hazes and the kush. I usually run things lean on nutrients the first time around, and the Bubba is no exception. Could have given it one more dose of organic tea. Oh well, she looks like she'll finish just fine and an early vape test was a deep kush flavor with a pretty disorienting effect. That was from an early sample taken about 1 week ago. I think she will finish up in the next week. If not, she has to wait another week due to travel.

The purple haze looks like it could be a real beast. Indoors, she is a hard stretch. In pure sun, she would be absolutely mind blowing. Better yielding (at this stage) than any other Old Timer's Haze or OTH cross I've grown. I'm just trying to keep some fan leaves on her knowing I've got another 12 weeks or more.

dubi,

Of the plants I've grown in the last 2-3 years, most have been Ace Sativas (Bangi Haze, Old Timer's Haze and Haze Thais) with a few other haze hybrids thrown in. My bed time was creeping in to the wee hours, so I needed to start ending my evenings on a less than "hazy" note. I've been sampling the various medical kushes readily available around here and they are good product (mostly). Strong flavor and effects ranging from mild to heavy...energetic to mixed effect followed by collapse.

The Bubba kush I am running is brand new to me, but appears to have some merit. Are you suggesting reversing it to pollinate a (or several) selected hazes?

I've got many more to try out in the future. My plan is to keep both long running sativas (13-20 weeks) mixed with shorter running hybrids (9-12 weeks).

I've only ever done straight M/F crosses, but I'm more than capable of reversing based on documented procedure. Would that be a better path than seeking out a good haze male to cross to the kush clones? In small plant selection, the answer maybe yes.

I've got another clone only that I'm really interested in reintroducing to it's haze past.

G13/NYCD/Haze mix. Smells of clementine and cat urine. Taking this back into the OTH line could be fun.

Another adventure indoor grow. It is why I wish I could just go big outdoors all the time.

I had some work travel for the past week. I mulched my plants and watered well before I left. Set drip lines to keep them moist while I was gone.

That all seemed to work. What didn't work was one of my Titan mechanical light timers. It 'froze' in the on cycle at some point. I'm guessing early in the week because of the elongated growth I am seeing on the PHT's.

Anyway, I will trim back the new growth and reset the flowering cycle. Should be interesting to see if I can get them back on track. In the meanwhile, a few shots...and all I can say is that 3B is impressive.

Honestly, this plant looks like it has some very nice potential. Early and heavy onset of purple hue. Nice size trichomes and heavy resin content. Aroma is starting to begin...dark and mysterious.

I hope to play around with this one a little bit.

Beautiful, UHN. I ended up digging up my PHase/Thai because it had been about 4 months and still no signs of sex. Decided to take several cuttings, though. Also replanted the stump and what was left of the roots on a pot. The sand seemed to keep it in a sort of stasis, where it didn't show sex and grew very slowly. After seeing the latest pictures of yours, I hope the clones flower soon. I have enough colloidal silver left to make seeds if they end up flowering at some point. Beautiful plant to grow, but just running out of room.

Worst case scenario, I'll pick up some of Ace's Purple Haze and grow her out in a pot.

Ur Humbl Nr8tor,

Sorry to hear about the light timer. I'm sure it will still be good, just not so much bag appeal. The one above has quite a bit of bag appeal to spare!

Here is the PHT that I think is male. It has been looking healthy for a while and getting leaves that are longer, like OTH. I have been cutting it back several times, but I'm letting it get bigger now, just before it goes in the flowering cabinet, in the chance that I am wrong and it is female. It is in a pot with SAGE (violetta) for making seeds.

Here is a close up of the SAGE:

Ur Humbl Nr8tor, please keep us updated with more pictures of your PHT. You are keeping my spirits up while I try to wait patiently for mine to produce a sample. It is going to be a long haul if mine is male.

All the Best,

ThaiBliss

Thanks Tlapapa!

kamyo,

If you are hoping to see pre sex during veg, it may be difficult. Some of the plants I've grown didn't declare until a number of weeks in flower.

ThaiBliss,

I had one last go around I swore was a female. Ended up being a male in flower, so you could get lucky. Even if no female, the male pollen should be nice.

Here's the 4b female. Not nearly the looker that 3b is. No purple colors as of yet and smell is still unpronounced.

This one would likely be happy in a mix of 50% Happy Frog and 50% Light Warrior. Maybe more light warrior; She seems very nute sensitive. I've tried for over a month to take a clone, but none of the cuts have rooted.
