I'm always running lots of strains together and they don't all respond the same. your plants
look good. this is a good time to pull a few fans that block lower buds and clean out the bottom.
check the lower growth for bugs when you are cleaning up the bottom. I been seeing some spiders @ my house....

3-5 weeks in the flower cycle always has me scared that my shits not developing proper.
especially on the 10 week strains. 10 weeks takes a couple extra in this cold cycle at mi casa... at least the humidity is low. now it's time for my goodnight doob, OG fo me.

Looking good, do you plan on getting an AC to keep the garage a bit warmer during the winter or will you just cope with it as it maybe is to badly insulated to heat up?

Peace!

Hi SwedenGrow- I have been using a small heater inside the tent but the garage is too big and poorly insulated to heat or cool. If I owned the house I would insulate it and install A/C and heating

Thanks Chunkypigs for the advice- these girls could definitely use a few less fan leaves here and there. I have been trying to tuck them behind the bud sites they are shading but it's not too effective. Funny that you brought up being scared that your shit might not be developing properly at this point in the grow because I am definitely experiencing that feeling. This is day 30 of a 49-55 day strain and it's tough to believe they could be done in 3 weeks. I think the cold slowed things down in my case as well. I'm in no hurry though. Chunky I am going to owe you big time. You have been mentoring me for two grows now! Thank you!

My smallest SB smells like airplane glue. I do believe that's the killer pheno here.

Another first for me as a grower: last night I took some clones from my first round of clones. I don't know why taking a clone of a clone seems so much more miraculous than taking a clone of a plant grown from seed, but it does. Parts is parts!

My little clone and seedling cabinet no longer has room for a cloning tray:

The problem is the temp fluctuation in my garage. The existing cabinet is dialed in at 70 degrees exactly with a cooling thermostat, so setting up a cloning tray outside of that cabinet meant building yet another expensive little microclimate box in the garage. Well I smoked a bunch of my private reserve and pieced together a pretty awesome solution with stuff I had on hand:

Yup, a big ass 50 gallon tote with some insulation on the bottom. Two clip on cfl's from the defunct pollen collection closet, and a seedling heating mat underneath. No fans for temp control, so I got a thermostat for the heating mat. The probe goes into a rock wool cube inside the cloning tray, and the medium is kept at a constant 76 degrees:

That 76 degrees in the medium is the magic number for keeping the air inside the dome nice and humid and 70 degrees:

Anyway, I actually took some flowering clones last night to see if I can get them to root eventually. I think a few monster cropped SB plants would be fun to watch.

Took the day off work but can't go into my flower tent until 5 pm. Hehe first world problems! Shit's going off in there big time and every day is a new experience when I unzip the tent.

It has been well over three months since my last weed purchase at the dispensary and I have reached the point at which I have paid for my entire growing investment with the money I have saved. With most of my equipment costs covered, I will begin to see a lot more savings. I've also been able to keep several friends in stock so they don't have to pay for it either. It has changed my whole outlook on weed.

Now I am just worried that the Sour Bubble will be too strong for my more casual smoker friends and loved ones. :)

This was an awesome read man :good: So glad that you have reached a point in your hobby where you have broken even on your start up and equipment costs and are still going strong! I think I'm probably one grow away from reaching that target myself :respect:

Btw I'm particularly keen to see how those flowering clones you took take off. I have never seen this process documented before so I will be watching.

Oops pressed send accidentally. I have never tried to root a flowering clone either and am happy to document that part. After just a few days the pistils are turning brown beginning at the ends:

Here's a HxS:

In other news I transplanted my 3 oldest clones into 3 gallon pots and threw them under a few T5's in a makeshift veg area. I was running out of space :)

Really proud of how healthy the roots look and how smooth the transplants went. I do the whole transplant inside the tote that I mix my soil in and pack all of the soil in the pot before the plant goes in.

The flower tent is full of strong plants that seem really happy. It's day 32.

Great stuff mate :good: Interesting to hear of the browning off of the pistils already. I guess because they're flowering clones, you'll just need to mist this shit out of them and keep them warm for a couple of weeks???

Thankfully you only live a couple of minutes away from work (if I remember correctly) so checking up on them should be fairly easy :whee:

looking good, i have rooted clones from flower and you have to run them on 24 hour light until they quit throughing single leaf leaves. they do grow and branch like crazy after they root just takes a little longer. i grew BOG lifesaver in 3 gallon smart pots under 1k and got almost 2 o per plant. i am interested to see how the SB does i tried to order some in december and they were out so i got sourboggle i am currently running 5 now.

gotta love sour bubble

your doing em up proper elbandito :bandit:
if your pistils are turning brown early I would definitely scope em
for broad mites

btw, loading the container with soil and putting it in the
bigger/next size up is what i do.
great minds think alike :smoke:

I read that Broad Mites are dealt with by submerging the plant into hot water (< 119 F)

This seemed rather high to me, but I know nothing about this particular pest.

...they are tiny too!

Thanks for the idea.

Hey gnome and rocket- thanks for dropping by :).

I will scope everything tomorrow- so far I have been pest free, knock on wood. I don't think this the SB will yield like your Lifesaver- I am thinking more like 1.5 per plant avg. it is definitely sticky and the smells are kicking in strong. The skunk x haze is smelling skunky and the SB smells like airplane glue or similar.

Speaking of smells- I love the way Earth Juice smells. It really enhanced the flavor of my buds during the last run, and cracking open the bottle again made me drool. It's sweet oats and molasses and smells like cookies. Here's tonight's blend:

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1360212802.907267.jpg

I do bubble the Earth Juice stuff for 24 to 48 hours and I do it inside my tent in case there are little beneficial microorganisms breeding in there. :p

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1360212919.684174.jpg

I also don't want the light in there to kill off my imaginary micro herd so I cover it with a mangled 3 gallon smart pot:

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1360213041.380612.jpg

The one useful thing to be gleaned from this post is the way that 3 gallon smartie was mangled- slit carefully up the side stitch with a razor blade. It's the best way hands down to transplant up from that size. It is super easy to sew the seam back up if you have a sewing machine around. Wash it, turn it inside out, and sew it up.

Anyway sorry I am so high right now and had some beer as well. I was just excited to see that folks had dropped in. Cheers all!

So it's been a week since I took those clones- some from vegging plants an some from 30 day flowering plants. Interestingly enough, the first one to sprout roots and get put into soil was one of the flowering clones- the one with the biggest bud even! :boggle:

Sorry if I missed it El, but are you going to try to force that back into Veg mode?

Thanks,
