great work, medmaker! i like the results you're getting from those leds.

Hope you don't mind a couple of questions.
-Which is the closest you keep the panels from the plant in flower? (and what power leds, lens?)
-How is vegging under blue spectrum compared to red spectrum vegging?

Thanks man! I'll take a chair too! :lurk:

Here is me watering the first flowering section. I attached one of my gopro cameras to my watering wand/stick to get that first person look to the watering. Pretty cool if you ask me BUT by all means check it out for yourself below.

in the above video you will see Poison Genetics Casey's Cousin x Sour Diesel IBL , OTM, White Rhino and Cheesedog as well as the older in flower Jedi Kush and Jackpot Royale clone grown girls.

Lookin good for the 13' MM420. How do you have the panels set up in each 4x4 area, an what wattage are the panels for each area.

right now I have a 200x3w and a 180x3w in a 4x4 WITHIN a 4x8 tent. In the other 4x4 section I have 2 x 200x3w panels over that area. I am getting some clones together to do another grow test with those two panels ( might scrog actually ). I also have another flower panel that I will be rigging up for a vertical grow ( if all grows well that is ).

I am going to be getting a kill a watt reading from BOTH of these lights running together on one plug as well as individually. I have all this data however in the 2012 led grow show thread where I watt tested all of the panels that I currently own ( 12 of them currently of all shapes, sizes, wattages and even brands for that matter ) but I will keep using the meter ( why buy it if I am not going to use it LOL ).

EDITED: sorry about forgetting the main part exploziv LOL

I have been playing with the canopy distance. I get bleaching under 12 inches on these panels but I have had some plants totally fine within 6 inches but I do think that it depends on the strain or pheno itself BUT still unsure on that. As far as where I think a sweet spot however is for led panels to allow spread AND penetration is right in the 14-18 inch range depending on your led diodes lens angle.

The panels are 180x3w and 200x3w. I have 4 of them in a 4x8 and another in a 2x4 on its own. They all run under 400 watts running.

vegging under blue was hard to get used to at first but then again I think going under leds takes some getting used to. I have read many saying deficiencies happen in led. Now is this due to the spectrum choices or the inability to see the leaves and their natural colors or what we are normally used to looking at while under hps and mh.

I want to run hydro, aero or aqua in 2013 as well and see if an auto feeding method allows for less deficiencies overall. I do believe it has to do with my hand watering method and the I will get to them when I get to them lol.

Now on the blue and red portion of vegging. I am still up in the air on that one. I am still testing reds, full spectrum and blue in veg currently and seeing what starts to show more positive results.

I have however thought about turning them "long ways" but then I would lose my "aisle" between each panel.

Now ideally if you had more square panels I would do 4 of them for even better light distribution, this is where the smaller 4 modular lights as well as ufo styles come into play versus the longer and larger wattage panels.

My thoughts are, they are the same exact 3w diodes and power whether it be a small panel or a large one so might as well get more smaller ones.

Just wait until you see the lights I am looking at grabbing up late 2013 / early 2014. EXCITED doesn't even begin to describe it :woohoo:

LOL I love people

brother

the panels EXTERIOR COLOR doesn't affect the plants

you must be OCD and my "wiring job" must be bugging the hell out of you.

Just bustin your balls but yes the spectrums are all different so it isn't really an even spectrum distribution as far as alternating the "types" of panel.

Damn, a lil bigger panel than im workin with. I only have one 180w an was gonna get another of the same or one of Big Sky's 300w to put next to it. But i will still be under watts/coverage compaired to how you hae it set up. I really wished I went bigger on my 180w i got, it just doesnt havd the core coverage of 3x3 like they claimed. What, a led company lie? Never lol......

I am running a 180x3w ( the white one ) it is actually in the place of the last blue one on the right currently ( check my update pics, vids etc and you will see her ). I think it keeps up with the 200x3w just fine.

edit I just realized you meant 180w and not 180x3w.

What is the size of the 180 you have? Dimension wise

16x8.5x3 ......its a extreme flower 180w from advanced led.

coverage wise, I can't really comment because I don't have a panel near those dimensions. I can come "close" but can't really give any specifics based on my own real world research growing with that sized panel.

I can say that unless they have angled their diodes or offer directional angling of some sort there is no way that you can get an easy 3x3 coverage. If anything I would state a 2x3 due to it being a 16x8 and all unless it was actually square.

I think the manufacturers and resellers have some ironing out to do on canopy coverage still. I think with the new led grows happening in 2013 the data will start to iron itself out just due to the mass amount of new grow journals getting started and most importantly actually finishing lol.

I remember a few years ago there were plenty of led veg journals but not too many finished led journals for some reason lol.

Things are looking up as far as LEDs go and can't wait to see what comes in 2014 because 2013 is looking sweeeeeeeet.

Now with coverage

That depends on the canopy distance you are planning to put your panels as well as what style of plants you are growing. I can see growing a canopy scrog and cutting all the undergrowth KILLING IT and allowing you to put the panel higher up and still get enough penetration to get dense nugs.

I am trying all sorts of topped, untopped, trained, snapped, bent etc to see what works best with the leds and there is still more grows to go before I finalize my thoughts overall.

Like most, I am new to growing with LEDs and learning as I grow.

Yea it covers more 2x3 then the 3x3. I think that was one of my problems by having the light to high trying to maintain the 3x3 an loosing intensity.

Yes it does take some getting used to with LEDs. With our hps systems everything has been so standardized it makes it almost too easy sometimes lol.

I think that is what I find interesting with LEDs though is once we get things more dialed in and tested the GPW results will start looking INSANE and more growers will make the led switch.

Something I will be working on is my off grid led grow site. This is going to be my TROPHY grow so to speak but still in the planning stages obviously. Still more testing and dialing in to do before I make that leap.

I wanted to get my new grow journal or grow diary ( depends on what you call it I guess LOL ) UP and hope that everyone who liked my grow show in 2012 will follow along for everything that I have planned for 2013.

I thought this was a really cool picture details below pic...

here are some of the latest girls I just chopped above ( these are some lady berry kush, kushy haze and aardvarks mix I believe ) but it shows the "jedi kush and jackpot royale girls under flower light #4 as well as the last to go under flower light #5 in the background as well.

For those who are new to my grow shows I will catch everyone up.

I am currently growing the following strains

Jackpot Royale
Jedi Kush
Lady Berry Kush
Kushy Haze
Casey's Cousin x Sour Diesel IBL
Old Time Moonshine
Cheesedog
White Rhino
Aardvarks Mix

I am currently growing the above strains under LED GROW LIGHTS in veg as well as flower.

My soil mix for the girls currently in flower is a Pro Mix HP and some perlite. The girls that are about to go into flower however will be growing in Fox Farms Ocean Forest mixed with perlite.

Here is another shot of the girls I want to get over a pound with currently growing under led flower light #4

I have been testing multiple soil and coco mixes under the LEDs and so far I am liking the soil less mixes compared to the coco mixes as a grower. It is easier to work with and the plants seem to be happier in the mix. I think with an automated watering system coco would do great BUT I love the hand water method and want to stick with it. I think it keeps you up to date with the plants which to me ( as a grower ) is always a good thing.

A closer shot of the girls
