i think "cup competitions" will turn into something like dog shows.

'best in show' and a lot of smaller individual trophys.

so many different categories you can even have somebody win something like "best sfv og kush"

What if a grower were to enter their own amateur breeding project? Maybe have a pollen chucker category lol. (I voted for single cup to avoid issues like this.)

Questions over who enters what is just a can of worms in the making... Yes, people in the HTCC have entered the original clones, not "their work" ... People have entered strains in the 420 under false names, Etc. Etc. so why not just skip that potential sources of argument and concentrate on running a straight open fun Cup for best Marijuana, Sativas and Indicas, plus on the evening of [xxEDITxx], the Hash Cup.

There is nothing else like this, that is what makes it special.

Differentiating between Seed companies and individual growers is also wrong, the line is too blurred, some people do work for Seed companies on different levels, some do not advertise this fact, some have, or are about to start Seed companies... If we divide the Cup up, someone will start complaining that X bla bla...

There is also the original reason too, that we have no idea of how many entries will arrive, so the more reason not to divide it up into too many small categories. With the "Legalisation" in 2 US States we are already loosing some entrants and judges that we know of already.

So, I vote for a straight Cup, Indica and Sativa, plus Hash, simple.

Dangerous for sure.

i'm on the same page as choas, i think Indica,Sativa and hash covers it. One big cup, everyone on the same level blind testing the samples. No coffeeshop entry's allowed as this is a growers event.
we definatly need some type of prizes, i like the glass medal idea,Maybe a cup and medal for 1st,just medals for 2nd and 3rd. i would be proud of mine(if i had one,lol) The kudos of beating some of the best breeders in the world would be amazing,
That is if such a thing every happened

Also why do people think that they cannot compete with these pro breeders. they still have to grow the sample perfectly,we all have the same chance,unless you suck at growing..

^^so what happens if we have all these catagorys and only 25 entrys?, 12 cups every other guy wins... this would suck balls. i want to go head to head with all the big boys,truelly find the best of the best but seems everyone else whats an easy prize. However i will be around, what ever is decided.

i read about the lack of grower participation in last years event - what a shame.

G - will there be a limit to how many entries a grower submits? ie max 2 entries per entrant.

maybe we should start a competitive guide for how to run a cannabis cup

also right now cups are pretty much "hey guys lets all smoke weed and we'll rent a place with the judge pass money" but really we should have area competitions and 'regionals' and national competition.

how does joe shmoe get into the big show without working his way up?

American Cannabis Society, Hash Festival - like roses or beer.

being a judge on the invitational competitions will be tops.

so it looks like a breeders and growers cat's. so everyone get busy,we want a good showing in both the pro breeders and private grower's cup's. let's aim for 20 plus in each cat, So come on Ic people better get growing the dank asap...
