humboldtlocal,

Thanks for the links. Found the one for Twister after I sent the reply.

Do you know about how much I can put in one rack?

Thanks in advance..

humboldtlocal,

The people I spoke of said the self-sharpening of the Twister doesnt really work properly. Does it work properly? How long have you seen a Twister operate?

After how many hours of operation does a Tumbleweed require disassembly/cleaning?

How many hours until the drum is warped?

sorry for all the q's. appreciate.
I am getting a Twister in a couple weeks and will give a full report. On the last project with the Tumbleweed we had to clean it somewhat every hour. not a full pressure washing but scraping resin off the blades and bedknife. By grabbing the belt and pulling it so the blades go in reverse for a few spins a lot of resin came off the bottom of the bed knife.
The machine that had the warped drums was the original Rolling Thunder. The one with the blue frame. Maybe the new red RT pro has fixed that problem but after using the Tumbleweed I would not get the RT just because it seams to be an exact knock off of the Tumbleweed.

I am still waiting on my Twister machine. They are on back order. I guess they are a pretty popular machine. I hope these guys can keep up with the demand of harvest time.

humboldt, have you ever put anything on the machine like baby oil or vegetable oil? I have heard to do that, and clean up is very easy

Yes. I use pam or spray on olive oil. You spray the blades, bedkinfe, and nylon brush every couple hours. You can wipe the resin off with a rag when it has been sprayed. At the end of the day you can pressure wash all the resin off. I have heard of people using WD-40 but I don't think you would want that on your buds. I would use it to do a deep cleaning if you were going to use a pressure washer to get it all off after. You spray it on and let it soak in for 15 minutes and it really eats away at the built up resins.

So how do you do your drying humboldt? anyone?? Ive seen the little nylon round thingie..any other good ways that hold more material?

I was going to make something.

Thanks again for your insights evryone.

The collapsible nylon racks work good. They feel like they might rip if you put too much weight in them. You just shake them around while it is drying and you don't get flat/one sided buds.

I should be getting my Twister next week. It sounds like these guys are just swamped with orders. They told me that all of the east coasters in Canada start buying them up right now because they are starting to harvest up there. I hope all us left coasters don't get the shaft. If you need one for the fall you better get it soon.

anyone use the generic "trimpro automatic"? There's a chinese generic of the trimpro automatic.

Also, the racks would be nice if there was 6 levels instead of 4. There is more spacing than necessary between the levels. I usually toss a box fan shooting upward under the rack to speed things up. I leave the fan on low.

I agree, the rack would be better with 6 compartments. Lots of wasted space.
I have heard lots of bad things about the Trimpro auto. A friend used two of the TrimPro XL's last fall. He said all of the weed smelled like hay when it was dry. I have been using the Tumbleweed and don't have any smell problems after the herb is dry. If you look back on this thread a guy was describing the same problem with the automatic. If you have a big crop to trim get a Twister or Tumbleweed. They are expensive but if your weed smells like grass your SOL.

trim reaper is amazing. used it today

doesnt do a thing to the crystals.

some bigger buds will need touch ups but some wont. did about 3lbs in 3 hours,

the tiny buds looks absolutly perfect, you couldnt do them better by hand.

trim reaper is a game changer

Thanks for the reports on the trim reaper. Would love to get the twister but my harvest really is not large enough to justify the expense. So I ordered my reaper today along with some racks. I am guessing my finished dry harvest will be 6-7 lbs, I hope 4 racks are enough!

that thing is bad ass.

Well, i see it this way. If your one of the Big Boys or Girls and your harvesting in the major weight. First off, 15K isn't that much at all. You figure your spending that much for a trim crew to normally trim out your fall harvest. If you invest in one of these units. Your cutting down your trim cost on the second harvest by reducing the number of trimmer's and amount of time to trim harvest. I know this is the same way the car factories and other industries killed off the human online work force. I also see it this way also. Less mouths mean less chance of someone giving out harvest info and less chance of ripper and LEO. This is just my opion on this unit. You would have to locate is at different sites, so no one would know where trim location might be at next harvest time.
Happy New Years,

the biggest and best reason imo is the fact you dont have to ask ANYONE to help with trimming which means less people know aobut it which makes it safer in the outcome.

What would people recommend if your looking at 2-3 harvey's in a greenhouse of about 200+ lbs with EACH harvest?
