dispensaries are selling oz's for CHEAP

Has anyone ever done an in-depth analysis to how much your grow cost to harvest per gram? Mine was about $2.00 a gram. That pretty much includes everything down to the labor involved.

This is a good question, but not easily answered in my case. I keep needing to buy tools that inflate the cost per round right now, but over time the cost will become less, if that makes sense. As I become more skilled and my yields increase my cost per gram will become less, but that's pretty hard to quantify.

I suspect based on your cost being $2 a gram you are an experienced and talented grower (don't make many mistakes), because just going over it my head roughly I am sure I am more than that, probably much more at this point.

lol I'm going to find out just how much it's worth to grow it. I'll probably be amazed at how much it all adds up to.

I may decide that $100 an oz. is more than fair? We'll see. Since it's just for me, I Do want it to be 'top drawer'.

Good thread. Much food for thought.

it would cost me about $300 a year tops(including electricity) to grow 3-4lbs under a 400w if i ran it all year.

i re-use soil and run tapwater + maxibloom/protekt, not many expenses.

of course that's not including labor. but that doesn't "cost me" a thing except for time. maybe 2-3 hours a week tops.

what's your setup? $2 gram grow cost is insane.

Electricity @ .165¢ per kwh, call it $32 monthly roughly...close to $400 right there on an annual basis. Nutes, medium, ph meter, tds...it adds up.

No offense, but a great many weed smoker is not that smart.

If you have an indoor harvest that coincides with your states large outdoor harvest you are just plain dumb, unless you are not growing to sell. There is so much weed in Oregon around harvest you can barely give it away. I get all my indoor in Oregon from two certain people and it is always good, very consistent. It is a matter or pride for both of them. I can get pounds of good outdoor for $800-900 USD. I buy that just to make hash. That is all I really do with outdoor anymore.

And my dispensary in Seattle (Georgetown district) is usually $10 a gram for fire. I am not sure where the price break comes in, but that is the price up to half an ounce.

Hello all,

Are you sure its 0.165 cents or 0.165 dollar per kWh?

A single 1000W light running for 16 hour per day @ 0.165 dollar per kilowatthour:

Cost = 0.165$ /kwh *1kw*16h*30 days/month = $79.20/month for just the light @ 16 hour days.

Cost of the sun.....$0.00/month

Buahahahahaha

Hows the herb on the streets of seattle? i may try to find some haha

I am not sure where you are from, but the weed in Seattle is okay. I rarely have to buy off of the streets here. I get most everything from the dispensaries. It seems fresh and clean smelling, I don't detect any bugs or pesticides. That is my only real concern when buying it.

Most of the outdoor in Oregon seems to be early harvest because of the rains. I just make hash out of that stuff anymore.

i have a friend who just set up a small 8 light grow in seattle....their market is FUCKED..FUBAR i call it. people are so used to cheap weed that they dont want to pay more than 2k a LB for indoor, so most growers just pick early, etc..

eventually this black market green rush will end, and in order to make money you will have to study businesses in agriculture, food/bev, marketing and branding, the list goes on and on.

but in reality we just dont know yet what the feds are going to do with CO and WA. i see the mega warehouses and clean storefronts in CO and im ready to get into something like that, but they are all still skirting federal law so no one is totally safe just yet..

if a microbrewer can still make money going up against the millers, buds, and coors of the US im sure there will still be money in niche herb, however you wont be able to grow it your basement and most likely it will be tested for pesticides and other stuff...

One of the many reasons I moved from Cali... sounds like PG&E rates

Nope. That's not the whole bill, that's just the lights. So let's clarify... a single 384 watt LED (592 watts if you go by number of LED's * the potential of 3 watts) NOT HID... 1 KWH burned every 2.6 hours... Call it $0.76 per day. .76*30.3=23.028 monthly. The rest of that $32 number was the other miscellaneous lights I use for Cloning (23 watt CFL), vegging (105 watt CFL) and the little Blackstar 180 I now use mainly for supplemental lighting. Hopefully that makes sense. No, I am not on crack, but sometime wish I was.

Edit: Yes, those are PG&E rates. There is a utility in the next town over that only charges .10 a Kwh. Seems one would want to live in that area if they we're doing a bigger indoor grow as the savings would be significant.

I know some Oregonians already headed to CO just for that purpose, somebody there supposedly already has whatever commercial license you need, just need plant tenders, so off they go. They speak of Denver like the new oasis. I don't think everyone is waiting on the Feds permission, some are just gassing it and going. imo

Yup, been that and less for at least a month or two. The last I bought was 90, my cousin said he is picking it up for 80... This is NorCal...NE of Sac. Uber dense immature buds was what I got. It worked, but not really enjoyable meds. More like Ca's version of commercial. It's kind of sad there is such a thing. How times have changed. I remember living in Fl and how those people had no fucking clue what good weed was back in the 80's and me being spoiled by the best available before moving over there...... Now the goods are everywhere including FL and CA is producing commercial grade weed... WTF? The world has gone mad!!!

Sometimes you get a bad crop but doesn't mean you trash it. Not saying I would smoke it but I understand why cash croppers unload it still.

Or make it into hash, wax n edibles etc.
