UK Outdoor Growing 2010

It`s been a day of wondering i can tell you . A couple of week back i moved some of the plants from the bigger plot nearer the house into a smaller more enclosed plot , + side of growing in pots , & some were cut . The vegetation surrounding the bigger plot mainly big bramble/stingers in front of all the Hawthorn was starting to die back after seeding & a bastard ground frost , The PIR was aiming across the bigger plot so they either fooked off as soon as they see the red LED but at the same time they`d have realised there were no plants there they could see . The PIR was cammoed & they`d never spot it b4 it`s too late . Speaking to another grower this morn & he said exactly the same thing as i thought it , i could have taped over the LED & hidden it . 1 drawback with this alarm is battery life (PP9) in the sensor , around a month & i kept the led visible as i was going out there so i could tell if it had run down !
Another thing we thought of was the lateness of the rip , i still reckon they smelt them or it was someone/someones mate from a previous rip attempt that came back for a looksee . I wonder if me & Paulo qualify for the latest outdoor rip in the UK .
I`m gonna get another of these alarms for next year coz without it this year i`d have lost 11 good plants , 2 of them over 8ft . It ain`t all over yet until it`s in the storage jars so fingers x`d .

Stay green .

sorry to hear about the rip offs and scumbag problems, guys-

i know that it's obvious, and not always practical, but if you are a garden grower get a dog. Rottie-Staffie-Dobermann-even a fucking Poodle (the big ones can be quite agressive) It will very likely deter them-and if some lunatic does go for it you'll have the satisfaction of watching them being chewed.
I don't want to sound like a killjoy or anything but do be careful with any boobytraps -if something happens and the cops get called they will throw the book at you-seriously.
That's why a dog is so much better because if anyone gets injured-that's life-they can't throw the book at a dog.

good luck, Badger, nice pics btw

cheers

Feel for you gents having your plants ripped. Hope things work out for the good next year.

I'd like to hear about the rippers you tracked down MJBadger.

Feel a guilty posting these pics now.

Chopped 10 days ago. I planted her and two of her sisters out and about where I walk the dog. I didn't want to bin them and had nowhere else for them.

I hadn't seen this girl since I planted them in the beginning of May.

I forgot me phone when I chopped the others.

I probably got an oz and a half of the three plants, completely free herb.

Still got one big girl in the back garden putting weight on by the day and completely free of mold....Smelling real funky.

I'll get some photos of the girl in the back garden tomorrow.

but if you are a garden grower get a dog. Rottie-Staffie-Dobermann-

Got one you would`nt want to argue with believe me but as we went out the door she went one way me the other , the dog knew there was a car waiting coz she heard something i did`nt . The only mistake i made was heading for the plot instead of the fence line because if i had i`d been at the fence hole b4 they left .

I'd like to hear about the rippers you tracked down MJBadger

I won`t admit to anything for obvious reasons so we will look at it as a third party`s solution to a problem that occured .
There was this fella that had some shites visit his plot after getting over a fence & followed the only easier access made by some foxes through the low hawthorn & heavy bramble , kind of a 20ft tunnel about 3ft high . When they came to the edge of the grow plot the nearest plant apparently was a big biddy about 6ft with a stem about 1 1/4in thick , now this biddy had it`s stem smashed back & forth till it broke & it was dragged away . It must have been like a 20ft sign to the grower saying "We have been here" .
Now this really pissed the grower off so he used all his old poaching skills & thought about spring loaded traps to catch the animals he used to poach & had an idea & dragged himself into this bramble tunnel & realised just how dark it was in there so he got to work . First off he got some ring shank nails like they use to make pallets with & put 2 sides of the nail to a grindstone to make 2in spears with rings on them & tested one in a handle with a ferrule on it used for drills , the little spear went straight through a turkey bone with a bit of pressure . These nails were hammered in a 2ft feather edge board .
Next job was a bit more difficult but a thick pair of gloves & a bit of sense helped with the 16ft of razor wire coil . Basically he cut the bramble along one side of the tunnel & hung them all down on the opposite side ,removed some of the veg to allow the coil to fit in then came the difficult part of fixing the cammo sprayed razor wire to the roof of the tunnel , this was done by lifting the wire with a branch under the coil jamming 1 end in the wall of the tunnel then secure with some soft wire twists to hold it up in the upper stalks them 4 thin metal rods with a little hole drilled in the flattened end & thin garden wire attached were slid through the razor wire coil & slid onto the tops of thin branches, the wire twists were then cut & the whole lot stayed in place , apparently this was done wearing protective clothing/goggles in case it went wrong . The cut brambles were then lifted back across the bottom of the wire coil & just held in place with some cotton . In the poor light the coil could`nt be seen so the wires were carefully attached to the board that was placed about 6ft feet short of the tunnel exit at around 30* angle & the wires adjusted so they were as tight as could be when fixed to the board . The board was covered with leaves & on the next visit the board was either trod on by a shuffling person or a hand or knee but the action pulled the board a fair distance no doubt attached to some poor sod . 1in of movement of the metal rods & the whole coil dropped down on the unwelcome visitors trapped in a little tunnel . Now judging by the amount of claret left at the scene it apparently looked like a slaughterhouse & the claret trail went all the way back & up over the fence . In fact the car that took them away must have been a bastard to clean . 2hrs later he`s at the local hospital waiting for a couple of stitched up peoples to emerge a few hours later with razor torn clothing & told them in no uncertain terms that because their identity was now known by the grower any repercussions from rippers/police or any other means would result in the shites being hunted down as they were often in the local town , they were also told exactly what would happen to them . They never appeared again but are now known for the scars they carry . Justice done .

Stay green .

Nice one Badger. Good read on a Friday morning.

Are you putting in measures to protect your remaining plants?

Some pics of my back garden lady. I reckon a couple more days and I'll chop her. She withstood a battering from the wind last night.

I always roll as much off as i can , theres pleasure in that nice slim stick of sqidgy them use a cloth with some surgical spirit then soap hot water . Cleans it all off a treat . I have used Industrial Meths b4 , nothing like the blue stuff this is clear & evaporates very quickly with no oil residue unlike surgical spirit . I have often thought about trying it to make a bit of oil & see how it comes out .

Lovely plants Marco .

Would you protect your home if you had unwelcome intruders ? There are 2 types of people , those that accept being mugged/burgled/assaulted & spend countless days/weeks/months/years wishing they had been able to do something to prevent it if they had been able .
& those that hand out rough justice to protect their own , no member of public is at risk as long as they stay outside my property . We are not talking a guerilla site here but my own fenced grounds , cut or climb my fence your in my territory & will be rewarded with my justice . My whole years grow is outdoor & i`m not going to spend 6 or 7 month growing so some bastard can come along & rip it .
I hope you never have those problems , i would`nt wish that on anybody .

Stay green .

fucking can't believe what I've just read. maiming people for a few plants.

Don't think anyone was maimed, just a few cuts and puncture wounds.

Like MJBadger says he spent 6 to 7 months growing these plants on his own property. No one has the right to come and take them, not even the police in my opinion.
