Return of the Quantum Tower LED PC case

Hey all! Figured I would start a new thread to keep things nice & clean. All the detail is in the original but here's a rundown of what we're working with:

case: full tower PC case, modded and fully sealed
light: DIY LED panel, Osram Golden Dragon Plus LEDs (15x 660nm red, 6x 4500K warm white, 3x 455nm deep blue), total 46 watts
power: 2x Meanwell 700mA PSU for light, 1x 12V hard drive PSU (10A max) for fans
strain: SDxOG (by JLP) F2
container: two 2 gallon smart pots
medium: homemade organic soil (peat moss, perlite, worm castings, bone/blood/kelp/alfalfa meal, azomite, dolomite lime and mycorrhizae)
nutrients: 2-3-1 fish/seaweed fertilizer as needed
watering: 4x blumat juniors drawing from a 32 oz reservoir
odor control: DIY mini can style filter, holds about two cups of carbon, mounted vertically with magnets
ventilation: 1x Noctua NF-F12 pulling through 120mm duct and filter, 1x 120mm internal ventilation fan blowing on heatsink and plant tops

Everything with this case is designed to be as maintenance-free as possible, meaning I can leave town for up to a week and the reservoir keeps things nice and healthy. I like to add a little fertilizer during stretch, but otherwise they won't need much more help. The case itself is completely odor-free, nearly silent and blends in nicely next to my *actual* PC tower.

Now to the good part. :ying:

I started three seeds, but ended up with just one female. Here we are about 12 days into flower. A small clone is bringing up the rear who is just beginning to preflower. Stay tuned!

PC Grow + LED (always interesting nowdays) sound so nice to me !

I'll follow you ;)

Cheers

loved your last grow, really looked forward to see you come back for another round.

my pc grow case is almost finished too - you have been very inspiring with your last thread. i have to admit i stole the fan controller idea :p

Thanks guys. For stealth the PC design works well. I've had many friends, family and guests be none the wiser while standing right next to it :D

Last time I had the SCROG much lower throughout most of the flower formation. This time, the female is significantly closer to the light, like 3-4 inches, and getting closer. I'm hoping for bigger/denser buds as a result.

@Zoidberg I actually fried my original fan controller, so it doesn't work, ha. Wish I hadn't, it was a cool addition, especially the temp readouts. It's still there for looks though. Now I use resistor cables if I need to power the fans down a bit.

Already there are a couple differences from the previous F2s I've run from this strain. She is a stinky lady for sure, but just pure skunk. No hints of fruit or floral with this pheno. Leaves are more sativa leaning and she also stretches significantly more. You can see the clone has stretched like mad in just a couple days to pop up through the SCROG.

I will leave her au natural and see what happens

Day 21 here... about 10 less for the youngin'...

I came back after a few days and the clone had stretched all the way up to the light! Multiple zip ties were needed to bring her back in line :spanky:

Seems that keeping the plants closer to the lights has improved the size and density of the buds this time around. Comparing pics from the last run they look much better and more mature.

I'm getting some yellowing from the big lady so I've upped her dosage of fish emulsion. Much of her veg life was in the same soil so I fear the nutes are running low. Last time both my phenos yellowed off pretty early but it didn't affect the potency. I'll probably try foliar feeding soon enough. The clone basically has 2 gallons of fresh organics to herself so she is super duper healthy and testing my creative skills with zipties. You can see how I've had to tie her down. Tall, tall and stretchy this pheno is. I think it would be fun to run 4-6 from clone and tie them down laterally, that is if I can get a good mother going.

Interestingly, they are within inches of the light and no bleaching yet. A few of the leaf tips got burnt from getting too close but that's it. Trichomes are starting to pile on--the top cola is already very frosty.

Day 26...

Hey Zoidberg, the front buds are about 35 days in, the rear bud (which is taller and bigger because i didn't lst) is a week and a half behind.

how your raid controller veg case doing btw? i was thinking of building a 2nd tower for motherplant/clones with PLL light. But just like in your case another PC under my desk would be starting to be a little weird :p

30x470, nice to have you here :joint: pull up a chair!

Hey Zoidberg, the RAID case looks great on my desk but it's so small. I'm experimenting with different sized pots that give me enough soil area to hold enough moisture and at the same time enough height for the mother. I wish I could have a 2nd PC case too, but 2 extra "computers" under my desk would be too many.

While I was away for Christmas holiday the ladies were just fine for 5 days. The reservoir was nearly empty when I returned. Of course the yellowing has continued despite everything I'm trying: extra fish emulsion, topdressing and alfalfa tea foliar feeding. There is still new green growth coming in while the older leaves are yellowing off. Because the clone (being in fresh soil and getting more food during stretch) is so healthy, this leads me to believe it's a snowballing process once the plant becomes deficient during early flower. Like I said, this happened last grow and I believe my yield suffered a bit, but the smoke was just fine. Definitely not a mistake I'll be making again :smoke:

This pheno is more Sour Diesel dominant in structure and smell for sure. She freakin' reeks. Skunk, garbage, fuel and old fruit. Last night I was touching the plants and didn't wash my hands before I went to a movie. Oops! Because of smell I've already changed the carbon twice and turned off one exhaust fan. The other fan I've attached a resistor cable to so it's running at about 3/4 speed to slow down the air movement through the filter. It also raises the temp in my cab 2 degrees to 75, which is perfect for recent cooler weather. So far, no smell.

Anyway here's a pic @ 46 days! If you're just joining up the healthy, awesome looking girl in back is 10 days or so behind. I finally see some light bleaching at 1.5" from the light. I may have to pull her down with a ziptie toward the other large cola.
