Watermelon Hashplant

Greetings, I'm curious if anyone has had the pleasure of growing the Nepali highland Himalayan Sativa landrace know as watermelon hashplant. I would love to experience growing and breeding with this beauty. Are the seed available?

Hey there, I know that Bodhi seeds has done a personal collection and bulking of that line, so I'd get in touch with him for sure. This one is on my list as well.

How do I get in touch with Bodhi Seeds? I want that watermelon hash plant to use for breeding purposes. I would love to see it crossed with an Indica hash plant.

Not 100% sure if that's what I have, the marknigs on the bag have faded away. It's an Annapurna hashplant that's for sure. Have you started flowering yours yet?

I am growing some Nepalese highland sats next to them, they respond very quickly to 12/12 and I hope the hashplants will be just the same.

Nice... Let's compare development notes. Are you making seeds? And do you have any smoke reports from your lines?

Yes, this will be a seedrun. One is up so far. No reports just yet, only had 2 males previously. maybe we should ask bodhi for one :)

The third set of leaves has 7 fingers and the plant started to form branches at 7 days. Fast!

I put all the Nepalis to flower yesterday. Surprisingly the Watermelon hashplants have slimmer leaves than the wild highland junglis. Also more red in the stems. Wish I had a camera but I don't.

Here's an earlier Annapurna jungli shot to give you an idea. Ethiopian on the left.

Not much of an update, but I just put 4 more into soil after soaking. Just making notes here.

The germination rate is going down fast so I really need to act now. The plants I had were very very promising. I never had such a sativaish expression from a hashplant before.

Hopefully you get luckier this time with the Females. Are you aware of the various methods of possibly increasing your odds of female plants? I can elaborate if not.

Fingers crossed! I've heard about excess moisture giving rise to more males and drier soil to more females, but can't think of any other methods right now. I'd love to hear your take on it! I'm flowering right now so I can't try anything too fancy like ethylene treatment.

2/6 sprouted, needless to say I'm running outta seeds to try. No matter what they turn out, there will be pollen chucking. And clone them I will. I'll also try to put a few pictures up after christmas.

Stress in general tends to bring about more males in. I have read that certain lighting and temps can increase female to male ratios but its all second hand info as I have yet to do much with seeds, mostly clones...I can give you more specifics if you would like, I believe what I am referancing is from Greg Green's "Cannabis Breeder's Bible." Good read if you want to breed, but a little technical for the casual grower methinks. :2cents:
