thank you guys...I really appreciate the vote of confidence and I'll try to do everyone proud...

<add edit>........I've gone and sent an email to my 'friend' at Bysen asking as to why the fans pull in air instead of sucking it out of the unit....The question has been raised so I figure I'll ask over there and see what kind of reply we get. I'll let you all know as soon as I get a reply..

I can see how they don't think of it as an issue when testing in an open room but I wonder if any of these companies test in grow tents and understand the whole need to keep moving hot air UP not down.

Below is a copy and paste of the letter I got back from my 'friend' at Bysen.....The English as you can tell is not the best....:)...but it's pretty much understandable...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

About your question ,I have the answer yet ,
I could fully understand what you want to express,
I asked my manager just now ,He said it is a easy question,
Take a fan For example ,
When you stand at the back of the fan ,but you feel the wind from the forward ,
The wind blows in from the back of the fan ,but blows out from the forward ,
So the principle of work of the led light is the same as the fan ,

May be you saw the air outlet at the side, the warm wind will out form the side ourlet ,
Look the outline carefully,
You will find it is different from the other lights ,
the special design to be used for waterproof,
If you know what's my meaning ?
That's the language difference,

we have tested the two ways ,but this design was proved to be a good result,
it benefits for cooling down the temperature ,
Wish you could understand me a little ?
did you ?
yours,

Andy chen

so vukman are your fans blowing the right way?

now on the waterproof part, if you were sucking air from the top wouldn't that not be waterproof but rather could possible prevent water from going in if the fans were blowing UP to push or redirect water drops ( not sure what waterproof had to do with things BUT ) ?

I see the side louvers on the bysens are angles to protect anything from dropping on it but not on the actual top of the light itself. I still think the fans swapped and sucking hot air up and out making far more sense than pushing hot air back into the led panel and then out the sides.

I haven't had temp issues though SO maybe it just isn't a big enough issue. I guess if you had alot of led panels in a tent it could be but even the 200x3w panels don't heat the tents up at all.

How are your temps vukman? Between your 4 different led panels or however many you have? I found the bysens to be cooler running all around but still think those fans would be killer swapped.

These Bysen units are a lot cooler and a hell of a lot quieter as well. My other LED's have 8 fans on each unit and you can really hear them humming away.. Noise isn't an issue for me but for someone where it might be, these are the way to go... Also, they layout of the heatsinks has a lot to do with it as well.. Instead of a full one piece of Aluminium, the Bysen has modular heat sinks so it really allows for full air circulation around them for maximum cooling effect as well.

All in all, they are very well designed as far as the cooling goes and yes, they probably would be even more efficient if the fans pulled air through the units instead of blowing it in but in the end...if you've got an overheating issue with these lights, you've got bigger problems going on in the tent then,,..at least that's my take on things...:)

Ever get those lights on a watt meter?

Did bysen ever say what the max "daisy chain" wattage is for their lights? I really think that extra plug is PERFECT for a small fan though OR for those who want to add some side lighting like uv or biax they could plug it right in there and then attach it to the panels housing.

Alot of options PLUS the ability to swap out the modules for others especially if you buy different spectrums for veg, flower, later flower etc. Change around the lights based on your current grow.

Hye bro..been busy helping mother and sister move their business so I haven't really had the time I've wanted to these past few days...

No, still have to put them on the meter and I completely forgot to ask about the daisy chain.

I'll get on that when I get some rest,,,fucking knees are just killing me these past few days..

bad knees and gardening are a bad combo

get some pads for the knees of some sort OR raise the bed ( soil bed that is lol ) UP so everything will be at waist level and no need to bend over or get on a knee to work.

TESTED

TESTED

Hey Gang:

Okay, I've gotten some rest and I've tested the lights so without further delay..here are the results.

The one I found very interesting in the amp draw was only 1.6A and the wattage draw was 192W........images below with base line

picture.php

That's 1.59A below

192W below

To refresh it all,,,,,These are the results for the Bysen H160D-210W -----6 module/panel LED light

So you're actually running about 200W less with the Bysens than with the "Blackstars", correct? Those were almost 300W each if I recall, these are almost 200W each. Are you expecting the improved spectrum to make up for that wattage differential? It will be very interesting to see how they stack up to the old lights. Thanks for all the knowledge.

Hiya Socrates..yes, actually, I am expecting better results with these due to the spectrum/wave length ratios.

If you look through some of the other LED threads, especially the DIY ones, you'll see that people are having amazing results with power ranges around 100W. I know in those grows they are using more white light which seems to be a factor. I might put the Sun Blaster Fluorescents on these like I did onto the other ones I had to see what that does.

This grow is starting off slow and I'm aware of that. Fucking always something, isn't it?? This time I'm battling the damn fungus gnats.!!!! Little bastards, I've tried neem, azaneem, spinosad. Even took a pack of smokes and soaked that in water and let it sit for a while to get the nicotine out of the tobacco and sprayed with that...They just keep popping out the little fuckers.. I think the sheep manure I used was just fucking loaded with them..:-(

I'm waiting on some Imid to come. Ordered it from Ebay and should be here this week and I 'll douse the container with that. On top of that, I've also looked at homemade remedies as well..I've got dryer sheets covering the soil now and have the vapona no-pest strip hanging just above the soil and it's yellow so it should attract them to it. Also, after I douse with the Imid, I'm going to put a layer of nice dry sand over everything. That or diatomaceous earth. THIS IS WAR I tell you!!!!! LOL

Damn it, Something's Wrong..:(

Damn it, Something's Wrong..:(

Hey Gang:

Maybe someone can give me some advice here and please don't ask me to dig them up and replant them...I'm sure the root structure is beyond the point of that being feasible.....

If you look at some of the pictures, you'll see that some of the tips of the leaves are missing...almost like just the tips have been eaten or even more what I'm thinking is.......if the soil is too hot,,,,will that happen??

If it's the soil, I'll flush it and that will be that but if it's some sort of pest, I'm at a loss... I am battling fungus gnats and you can see I have dryer sheets down plus to no-pest vapona thing. I'm waiting on some Imid to come....then I'll douse everything with Imid and after that either lay out some diatomaceous earth or plain ol' sand to stop them from breeding...

Anyway,, here are the pictures...They should be a lot further along than they are.......Not really worried because they are growing,,,,,,,,just the time factor is involved.. I wouldn't mind having a new crop for Christmas..:)

Hey Vuk, I don't know what Imid is, but I've seen people recommend mosquito dunks for fungus gnats. Also, they might be a little slow, but they're looking pretty good otherwise to me. I wouldn't worry about it, I'm sure they will take off in flower.

I use mosquito dunks crumbled all over.the tops of my pots of coco and i get no gnats anymore. I use this measure and only this as a preventative. For ur situation i would crumble 6 of them all over the top of ur soil and it should kill off the non flying babys and not alow the adults to breed. make sure you dont have any bahgs of soil or medium laying around as they will just use that as a breeding ground......NO IMID! not needed for such a small problem.....keep it for spidermites if that happens.

Mosquito Dunks huh???? Hmmm, I'll definitely look into that because the last thing I want to do is run a systemic through the girls... For spider mites, I have FloraMite which is systemic too but specifically for mites or at least so I hear... Friend gave me some of that just in case of mite issues....Said to wear a mask when spraying that so I'm guessing it's powerful shit....

Okay...mosquito dunks it is...gonna look it up now and see what the ingredient is in there..

Thank you

I got a lil bottle of floramite too but havent had any kind of pests for over 3 years. I spray spectracide outside my house every month and neem on all doorways and windows as preventative....straight goin nuclear i call it....i make it so they dont want to come in.
