just a quick update on the smoking quality of the S1s i grew.

the cheesy pheno is great, the bubba funk wins over as you break it up but it definitely has a cheese taste to it as well as the usual bubba (like the UK cheese cut)
its very potent, just as potent as bubba and maybe more.

ive also tried plant 2 which seems very close to the original cut. yet to try plant 4.

more details soon....

VG

What's this with the UK Cheese cut? UK Cheese looks awesome but shouldn't have a proper place in Bubba breeding. If anything's used it should be an Afghani.

I respectfully disagree about not topping the bubba. She really needs to be topped for her to get nice and bushy. Top her late in veg, like a week or two before flower...I'm used to growing her in 3's so she needed a longer veg in my set up.

hi J.G, thanks for chiming in with your opinions. i have topped bubba myself before but i find you can get the plant to bush out just the same with LST and it takes less time. imo topping the bubba will cost you vegging time by holding it up for a week or so.

in general i top plants grown from cutting less and less because i find that LST works better for most.. except some sativas where the apical dominance is very strong and these will be more reluctant to branch out whne LST'd
seed plants i tend to top more regularly because they are more vigorous and the apical dominance is much more pronounced than in cutting plants, but again with bubba i would LST it rather than top.

wonderon, i am going to try and polinate a couple of bubba plants on monday,
everyone send me some good vibes!

WhiteberrieS - glad you like the bubba as much as me!, mentions of the UK cheese are because one of my S1s gre out to have a distinctly cheesy smell alongside the bubba - and this rare terpene is an afghan trait. i may try to do some breeding with this cheesy S1 pheno i have, i may cross her to the UK cheese to see if i cab get a cross that breeds true for the cheese terpene, or moe likely i may reverse self the cheesy pheno to make some S2s to see how many come out cheesy. both of these will be separate projects to the bubba S1s though.
im hesitant to say it, but the cheesy pheno S1 (i need to think of a name for the cut) is possibly better than the bubba cut itself...

we will see.

Keep the bubba going man. I haven't tested your gear but that classic bubba is gold. Start breeding your own OG and it's on from there, but I ask PLEASE don't let the coffee candy get sidelined. not til I get a pack anyway :D

I'm with whiteberries on this one, I am already a little apprehensive about odor control with some of the phenos of bubba that could pop up.

Thanks VG for the response. I have at the moment some seeds I made of Bubba with Bubble Gum male my wife purchased in Amsterdam on a trip. I can't wait to pop by Bubba Bubble! I'll post them when I start the grow.

I really want to treat my C99 with cs and pollinate my Bubba. It would be so cool, I could call it Bubbarella! Anyone seen a cross like thisor have an educated quess on what they will look like? This will be my next project after growing my Bubba Bubble and I can't wait.

My BC cut of Bubba doesn't stretch too much and I find that I have no problem getting bushy plants doing nothing at all. I grow vertical so may be the side light gets into the interior more and that is why. I have never grew her with top lighting. Does anyone else's Bubba grow fairly branchy and bushy on it's own?

hey guys, rest assured bubba S1s are my top priority right now, as, if and when im happy that i have a couple of bubbas successfully pollinated with bubba pollen, i may go on and dust a few other plants, but the pollen is in pretty short supply (its hard to reverse and only produces small amounts of pollen) so the S1s come first.

the cheesy S1 cut is not even mummed up yet so it will be a while before i can play with that.... but it defo is a winner.

TGT - all that sounds pretty cool! - keep us posted :)

thanks SR, i cant really claim any credit for the bubba S1's... no breeding work required really, i just had a feeling that the seeds would likely come out very similar to the parent because of bubba's true breeding nature.

so, i pollinated a couple of big plants on monday and i'm almost certain that it has been successful and there should be some seeds on the way. hopefully a decent amount (keep in mind though that i was wrong about this last time :D )

so if all goes well i'll be sending in a batch of bubba S1's in early december......

fingers crossed.

Perfect timing for my birthday LOL. Best of luck with those beans. I wish I had got some of the bubba s1 back in 09.
