Help me understand nute burn?

So on a one gallon container, how many gallons of phd water would I need to flush through it before I precharge and plant seedlings or cuttings?

I don't think I've been flushing enough, could that be the source of my problems? My bigger plants are getting a new set of leaves which are a l light green/yellow color, is that a sign that they want some food?

I said previously that I wasn't going give them nutes for a few days, I gave them water phd to 5.7 and have gotten a bit of growth and some green coming back. So yes all they have been given is plain water. I thought that was clear in my last few posts. Should I hit them with a half dose of nutes or too soon?

Toss em out!

Why would I do that, I said they are coming back. If nothing else I am learning from my mistakes. No worries, I have faith that they will be good. Funny enough my ak has a slight smell to it even in the current condition. I love smelling it. I will give them some nutes in the morning since I'm bubbling some fresh tap water that I can use to hopefully get them jump started. Hopefully they react well to the food. I swear you guys must of been born with a green thumb, some of us aren't born with the knowledge so we have to make mistakes and work hard at it.

Wonderon: disregard my previous post.. I told you to water that a 6/9... by looking at the pics in your album, water them at 3/4.5......... fwiw I have a few plants like that... (out of 40)... i've be giving them 6/9 for a week or so...and they're tagging along.. but thats the risk i took.... i would recommend you feed at 3/4.5 to be on the safe side....

I'll post new pic in the am of them to show how they sit as is. I will be hitting them with nutes then also. I am happy with their progress. I have done everything with them the way I thought I was suppose to, I sprouted them and watered them with nutes, they started dying so I hit them with plain water and they are coming back alive. Now I'm letting them tell me when they are ready for food. Clearly they are getting new growth so I'm doing something right. I still am not clear why they burned but here's hoping they are done with that.

On with the pics..

If you are still under the 150w Floro definitely keep giving them a very diluted ratio. Many who hit with full 6/9 (or whatever) right off the bat are under HID lighting.

Weak Light = Weak Nutes

Funny that you say that. I actually burned a few seedlings out under my 150w, must not of been close enough as they were looking great and in one night while I was working they stretched so bad that they toppled over and the bottom of the stalk became too thin to hold the rest up. Im gonna buy a nice set of t5's soon as I have a 1000w hps that is gonna get used to flower out and I want to have solid light coverage the full way through. Just gotta work out this little hiccup.

Nice, do you use a mh conversion bulb for veg or just hps all the way through?

I got my ro filter up and running, its an rodi so it should some pure high quality h20. Gonna use it to feed my babies 3/4.5 today. Here's hoping they are hungry for it.

straight hps...... also since you are using ro water are you doing half ro half tap? if not you'lll most likely need some cal/mg...

I'm gonna try straight ro. Head said he used his dehumidifier water which is like ro water and didn't need cal/mag since there was enough in the nute mix atleast that's what I think I read. I will keep an eye on things to see how they do. Might buy some cal mag just to keep on hand anyways.

I just mixed my nutes, using a gallon jug I filled with ro, then added 3ml of micro, shook the piss out of it and let it sit for 5 min, then shook it again and added 4.5ml of bloom shook it again and got a ph of 6.9 and an ec of 1.0 or 500ppm at ec x 500, sound about right? I'm aiming for 5.5ph so I have room to drift up.

ro water.. and your ph is still at 6.9 after mixing? I thought ro water drop the ph along with the ppm's.. I know most people at ph up while using ro cause the ph is so low............ good luck, and keep us updated.....

H3ad has moved a couple of times and has used tap at 20ppm and well water near that. Ive read him say he uses he dehumidifier water to TOP OFF his res. If he was removing enough 02 from the air to fill his tanks Id be amazed though!

I know right. We do have some hard water in these parts which is perfect for African cichlids but not so nice to the gardens. Watered them and waiting to see them perk up. If this doesn't work I'm gonna be at a complete loss.

I think I'm on the right track. They look much better today. I will try to water them with the half solution one more time once they need the water, if they don't burn up, I will try to up to 6/9. Kinda thinking of turning them into mothers that way I have a source for clones when I'm ready to fire up my tent and 1000w hps.

When people refer to cal/mag, is that gh's CALiMAGic? Gonna pick some up for the long haul.
