lol... I'm gonna have to ponder that last quote for a while... Definitely not gonna start shaking a shit tree w/o wearing some protective garments.

Life has been busy. I didn't get back to the lake house for 2 weeks because my truck needed 4 new ball joints, graduate school started, and things just didn't work out to where I could make the drive. Honestly I'm so used to things going wrong (like the timer falling out of the wall the week before) that it didn't even phase me. I just decided that if they're alive when I get back, then cool. I mean most of the blumats have been working and the flood tubs were plugged in... I think... lol

I went back and everything was alive except for 3 plants in the octagon... 1 of which was dead the week before but I had hoped it would bounce back. Damn blumats... And a Chem D in the 6 plant grow had dried out as well... but overall the grow is running itself for once. I wasted another 200 cuts a few weeks ago attempting to clone in coco... and I just can't. I'm going back to perlite, but in cups so I can see the roots and transplant more easily. Rather than throw plants into flower in a rush... I've decided to veg them bigger... I need clones, and I have an 1800w stack that needs large plants around it.

The nutrients didn't dilute out as fast as I would have liked in the 6 plant Straw DD/ChemD grow, and the plants didn't get a good flush like I would have liked. Such is life... It's better to harvest now and supply the dry market now rather than take the time to flush and take my buds to market after all the outdoor comes flooding in... Decisions decisions...

9 weeks.
Straw DD- imo this plant stretches and yields more than the chem d

Chem D

Sour D- I left this one go... 9 weeks is way too early. With the Chem/StDD you have to worry about bud rot letting them run too long. Something else that played a role in my decision to chop.
picture.php

St. DD- this isn't even the biggest bud I've grown... But the St. DD consistently grows nerf footballs for buds.
picture.php

Chem D is visibly more frosty than St. DD... I'm thinking about culling the St. DD, and hitting the chem D with St. D pollen and then I can just find a better pheno down the road...
picture.php

I'm still gonna be pretty busy for the next few weeks... My new house isn't gonna remodel itself, and I'm no general contractor... So I have to learn as I go, ya know? I just ripped out an old window and frame in the shower, rebuilt it with pressure treated lumber and glass block with a vent on the top... Gotta tile the bathroom, refinish the floors, paint... Did I mention I started graduate school? So don't worry about me if I'm not around... I'm still on my way out of the woods. I seem to do better with a busy schedule anyway.

In spite of the hiccups I see alot of postive progress . Strawberry and the chem both look fat and hard :good:. Keep giving it hell bro, and the rewards are bound to follow. Like forming sand into a pearl, these things take time to master. The problem with remote grows is trying to anticapate all the things that can/will go wrong while your gone. Unfortunately the only way to learn what is likely to fail you in your particular setup is to run it and learn the hard way, then adapt or perish.....

I know you've got this though :pimp3:

I perform the best under pressure... I need to have a full plate or I don't feel like I'm getting anything done. That chem d is almost dry and we'll get caught up. Been neglecting my friends a bit lately.

This is the part where I break the news... I've come to the point in my education where I can get a full time job that pays $20+ an hr and still attend class... And so I'm applying for full time jobs. There, I said it. My resume is absolutely insane, and so would be my hospital if they don't move me up to a job with more responsibilities. They'll lose me to another healthcare system.

Growing was more fun when it wasn't my job and I wasn't dependent on the income. My financial well being wasn't dependent on each crop, but rather the extra income afforded me luxuries... I have no regrets for the things I have done... Rather I'm proud for having aquired 2 houses within the past year. At the same time I have to keep looking forward, and prepare myself for the future. There isn't shit about dope growing on my resume... So it really doesn't matter in the long run what I do with that.

The short of the long is that the job, when it finds me, will have an effect on my growing. What that will be I'm not 100% certain yet, but chances are I'll be working with what I have and keeping things simple and productive. I'll still get to that high gpw goal... But it'll happen almost by accident if I'm patient and wait...

It's been a great ride to watch man - lots of kudos and :respect: your way, most certainly.

I'm wondering if the lesson in all of this has been the tradeoff, on a few levels, of max efficiency vs. reliability. It's been so helpful & educational to all of us to be able to watch your progress, for better and for worse, as your plans and ideas fleshed out and came to life. Ups, downs, it's all so helpful for us to see & be reminded of.

My :2cents: would be to focus less on the GPW and more on the consecutive, dependable harvests. At some point, I think the GPW is really a lot like the interest rate on your mortgage - it's nice to tell people a "cool" number, but at the end of the day, is it a pissing contest? The difference, in dollars (in either scenario), is rarely more than what would otherwise be a rounding error. Right?

And, probably without any intentions, you've given a good show-how of an absentee grow - it's perks and challenges. If you ever feel like you didn't get the weights you expected, please do know your grows have yielded insight and "ah hah" for us all.

Eyes on the prize. So happy for the new acquisition and plans going forward. You're knocking on the door of SUCCESS - you've already gotten success, probably even Success, .. but you're like one more chip of the iceberg away dude.

Well shit man. There is no doubt in my mind that if you were to just focus on growing alone, and say school on the side over time... You would make it big... No doubt in my mind whatsoever, barring any tragedy of life like the cops. We only have so many hours and so much effort that can be put behind any single project that is worth doing, and if we spread it too thin... Nothing reaches the potential that any one could provide. For me, anything I did really well was pretty much the only thing I was focusing on at the time... Usually everything else in life got short ended too. I chalk it up to a fact of life, and growing is a full time occupation, just like anything else. Pretty sure you know I have always been consistent in that opinion... It's work that requires a lot of everyday time, not every five days and then forget about it again... Just doesn't play out, not that I've ever witnessed. We can only really do one thing really well, and the rest gets half assed. Fact of life.

Best I can gather... School (and that associated career) has always been your number one, underlying focus. Finish what you've started and give it your undivided attention... You've invested so much already, finish it through. And work the career track... Mad respect bro... Mad respect.

I know u recall that I've suggested dropping work, and taking a leave at school... In order to just do the grow. Really it was a matter of time before one cut into the other... Or they both cut each other up entirely. I see that either choice is a great choice, so that one will be exceptional rather than both mediocre, at best. Plus, school and a legit longterm career means much less risk to jail... And with the career path, all the goals you have previously stated are perfectly in reach. Seems like the 'smart' choice... Especially if you have good, solid opportunities available right now, within your field of study.

Or you can go gangsta... Just do it in full... ;-)

And if you get fully fed up working within the system (like me) ... There's always crime to be done!

Not like ur not going to grow and all... But even if ya do... Sure the opportunity cost will be worth it for you. Work the system man... Work it. Peace

lol... Most people can't say that in the next ten years they'll be making $100k legit, no worries about laundering the money.. with $200k+ being brought in with more experience gained. No worries bout aphids or mites... or going to jail.

When I get tired of that... and the price of a unit hasn't dropped to $2k... Maybe I'll go get back to my gangsta ways... lol

It's not like I'm shutting down... but the beginning of the end is here. I had some lofty dreams of buying a bunch of houses every year and growing tons of cannabis.. but it's just not that easy, and it comes at a cost. There's many ways to skin a mule. Growing cannabis isn't my dream... and I'm not sorry to say it. It's something I enjoy thoroughly, but there are things in this world I would give up cannabis for. I know, it's crazy talk... lol...

If you had to ability to change the lives of thousands of people for the better... You would do it, right? I can, and I'm going to. I can help many more people running a hospital than I can growing plants. That's a decision I can live with.

but on a lighter note.... Let's smoke a j yo. :joint:

Been where you are more than once. As a matter of fact, not that long ago. Hope you continue to post on here. I've followed your grows for a long time. Big dreams come easier to some than others, sometimes too easy. Mine started one sunny day 20 years ago looking out on sailboats in a harbor. Many years passed while I experimented with methods to maximixe harvests but the little details kept sabotaging me. It was only when I dropped the dreams and started growing for its own rewards that I could slow down enough to read my plants and get a feel for them.

If a person can make a good living in a career and not totally whore out, then growing for profit is usually a fool's game but that kind of depends on your relationships. Good luck in the healthcare game. If you rise high enough, do you think you could get rid of managed care?

True happiness is BEING happy with whatever you experience at the present moment. It is NEVER about the future. Happiness can only be experienced here and now, and ONLY here and now...UNCONDITIONALLY!

What we normally consider happiness is simply a feeling of success or relief, it is NOT true happiness.

This is why what we mistakenly consider to be happiness is ALWAYS temporary!

Dreams, are simply the "invisible cheese" that keeps you running on the wheel, inside the cage. The cheese (dream) is not meant to make you happy, it is a part of the SURVIVAL IMPULSE, and so, it has been designed to keep you running, to keep you surviving as a "conceptual-self."

This is a very important distinction to grasp if TRUE happiness is something that you want to actually experience.

Because if you don't make this distinction and can't simply BE happy with whatever you experience - (including being happy when everything is NOT working out the way you want) - then your only option is to suffer through life with occasional feelings of temporary success and/or relief after reaching goals/dreams...etc.

...but this will ALWAYS and only be temporary.

To sidestep conceptual-self-survival, which occurs for most people 100% of the time - (mouse running on the wheel chasing the cheese that he/she will never actually get, since it is an illusion) - being happy with whatever is occuring on a moment to moment basis is the only way to be truly happy.

The most important question is do you want to be happy or do you want to suffer and struggle as you keep running after the cheese?

Take into account as you get closer and closer to the cheese, it automatically gets moved farther away. This MUST happen, so that you will continue to survive, to keep running and running.

Conceptual-self-survival is NOT about getting the cheese. Because it is a special kind of cheese, and as you go to grab it - it moves away far enough to keep you running along.

This is WHY we are never happy with anything for long.

If you want to see how you are surviving, just imagine yourself completely free of any worry, in total peace, no dreams, no goals, just sitting on a secluded beach, with zero thoughts, simply watching the sand and the surf, and listening to the waves and the birds.

...and contrast this with your everyday life....moment-by-moment.

...that should give you a small glance and feel of what conceptual-self-survival is really all about.

But the most interesting distinction to make is that we will NOT survive. No matter how hard we try, we will lose the race. We will die. There is no way we can avoid this, no matter how hard our conceptual-self tries to block this out of our awareness, death is the ultimate test of what IS and what is-not.

what IS always remains, what is-not is always and only temporary.

CONSIDERATION: If the purpose (survival) can't ever be realized, then there is never an experience of completion or freedom possible here. The whole pursuit is ALWAYS toward what ISN'T...it is never toward what IS.

The present moment is already what it is. There is nothing that needs to be pursued or attained.

Since our whole experience is dominated by what isn't (thoughts about the past or projections about how the future will be) we ignore the here and now, and by doing this, we turn our back on true happiness.

Being happy is about being happy with WHATEVER we are experiencing in our life at this exact and only moment.

It is NOT about being happy when certain conditions (goals, dreams, etc) are realized and reached.
