You -should- be able to get away with that. You'll have a bit more stretch between internodes, but decent enough.
No way you can 'try' it with one setup and then get the other 3 400's if it works out?

I definitely could try it, I could go set up a 400 right now and see how well the area fills in.
yer boy blue read this thread, marlo was killin it in a similar sized room doing vertical 2 x 400w and switched to vert. 2x 600ws and training plants to walls, very easy setup, just look at his room design in this thread, its a fun read cover to cover:

600 w lites work as well u just gotta get them nice n close to the ladies
