thanks stoney - this strain is the original cheese grown by big buddha and used for breeding in a lot of his strains, its actually a pheno of skunk #1 which explains the fast flowering.

Floridian thanks for the insight on a pully system, right now i have them all on a steel cable running through eye hooks, i lengthen the cable and they all drop to the same height.

Funk, thanks man i appreciate it, stay tuned for more updates all insight is appreciated.

Ive raised some of the shorter growing strains on 3.5 gal buckets which is about a foot, the other side of the room i lowered the lights about a foot. today is day 2 of week 3 and the nugs are getting ready to bulk up, all are showing great resin production. the cheese is by far the frostiest, fan leaves and all, then the GDP, next is the atOG, C99 is looking great as well, and the strawberry blue is last in resin production for now yet they have the biggest nugs this far in. I probably wont be growing the Strawberry blue again because the stretch is about 150%.

I wish the plants were in 10 gal pots, they could certainly use the extra root space. Next time for sure!

Node spacing may be ideal but the buds will def be alot more dense the closer they are to the light. Hot spots? Adjust a wings barely have a hotspot. If your that worried get some more oscillating fans.

I'm just talking about warmer areas in the room, I need one more fan and raise the others. I don't think I would put an more plants in here, all he plants are touching as is. Pics are decieving because the cheese grows with very few fan leaves

Found this and thought I'd share:

The History of The Cheese by Big Buddha

The Cheese is a very unique plant, until now, available as clone form only, Originating, and still growing around the U.K and now, Holland, this 15 year old variety has been the leading dominant strain in the history of the underground British Indoor cannabis scene. I obtained this specimen three years ago, the person who gave this to me is a much respected person within the industry named Zorro, but I also did some more research and found out and spoke to some of the founders of the cheese and they told me about all about the cheese.

Background.

At around 88/89 these guys planted some skunk no1 and put the females outside, not knowing too much at the time they cloned off one particularly special plant which was named after by another mate cheese due to its all pervading stink.
Then around 90 the guys started to go to the free parties put on by the Exodus collective based in Luton, meeting up with other growers and was soon sharing stories as well as knowledge, this was how we teamed up to grow the cheese at HAZ manor, the collectives housing co-op in Luton, Exodus were taking a lead role in fighting prohibition at that time and the manor was a persecution free zone, the manor inspired loads of people to start growing and cheese cuttings were flying out of the door for a few years.!
(Source: cheesefarmer)

Unique.
The Cheese is the number one strain in the U.K. its distinctive, Old School taste is unique to the cannabis world , when you smell the Cheese you will be drawn in by an array of fruity, musky, hash /skunk undertones people who tasted the Cheese will always remember the smell, Very odorous
Grown indoors and outdoors this plant can finish in very respectable times, outdoors, expect a finish at the end of October/ start of Nov if planting outdoors please be wise with the planting spot because later on there will be a smell of terrific pot later on that season
Indoors, the cheese will finish between 7 to 9 weeks (although I have some cash croppers who grow hydroponically and will cut down every 6 weeks!). My preference, in Bio, Soil, the plant will be lovely and ripe within 50 up to 65days depending on personal preference, as long as the conditions are good. I must also recommend using charcoal filters on extraction fans especially in urban/ built up areas, thats my smell warning! Dont say we did not warn you!!

History about the Big Buddha

Now as you may know I have been writing articles for Weed world for a while now, As well as providing a few pictures of the Cheese, In the meantime, during the last two years I have also had the opportunity to find myself an excellent location somewhere in the southern Mediterranean regions of Spain. When I acquired a cheese cutting back in early 2002 I started a little side work on a cheese crossed with this excellent true landrace Afghani male in my collection the afghan seeds were given to me by an old smuggler friend who in the 80s was responsible for bringing tonnes of afghan border hash to the UK, as well as the selected female Afghani which was a real big yielder with really tight internodes, as well as a rich, lovely deep fruity bouquet) the male had the same smell and had excellent tight branching the first cross was in later on that year 2002, there were some very varied results, but through selection , I backcrossed the best male with the original Cheese, This was all done in the U.K. aware of the current laws in the country and as well as a lot of friends/circles around me getting caught we then decided to move our own project over to some good friends in Spain so we took the Cheese and some crosses and drove them to our new location, this was back in 2003 At around the beginning of 2004 while in Spain we were fortunate to be at the right time right place to acquire a space large enough to really get to work, so immediately my crew and I went in, the result after studying and testing is the cheese backcrossed 5 times as well as adding extra hybrid vigour and yield through extensive selective breeding we realised we have a genetically enhanced modified version of the cheese
After the many appraisals from other peers in the cannabis industry I made the decision to finally produce seed and will be releasing the Big Buddha Cheese, it has taken me a while now to start up and at the same time making sure we test viability, stability and germination rates of my seeds.

Introducing Big Buddha seeds

With more than 35 years growing knowledge between my crew, and having travelled around the world collecting new genetics we have made the decision to start a seed company, Big Buddha seeds the first release will be the Big Buddha Cheese this specific strain is the pinnacle of cannabis breeding today, setting new standards and introducing a new line of genetic material to the world, the BBC takes 8 10 weeks to flower and is consistently a much better yield than the original cheese however flavour and taste is not lost at all , if there is any variants, you will not be disappointed by the flavour of the old skool, highly resinous, Afghan again another unique taste but the high is real special, we at Big Buddha Seeds believe that we are the next new generation of breeders and will be introducing new genetic lines to the cannabis world.

Peace and Love

I greatly enjoy reading tales on the origins of different cultivars. Thanks for sharing it.

I have to differ on opinion about the flowering times for skunk #1. I have grown it for years and someone harvesting before 60 days is doing the plant a disservice. The high of one harvested early is wispy and racy. I think peak ripeness is closer to 8-10 weeks realistically for a mostly sativa.

middle of week 5

Thanks Ohmless, every different phenotype of each strain varies, ive smoked this plant taken at 49 days and it was super strong, not very racey but def noticeable. Im going to take cheese plants at 7 weeks, 8 weeks and maybe 1 at 9 just so i can see the difference. im thinking around day 52/53 is going to be ideal.

Babes are doing great, every flower in the room is rock hard except for the c99s. Here are some pics for an update,

1 - abusive tundra og
2 - grandoggey purps keeper pheno
3 - Strawberry Blue keeper pheno
4 - left side of room, all cheese, this strain really starts to pack on during the week 6 and 7
5 - right side of room, all 8-9 week strains, some nice colas from the seed plants all giving different odors, i love it... its like being at willy wonkas candy factory hahah every day the smells change ever so slightly

Beginning of week 6, just started feeding with yellow bottle final bloom, also re-inoculated the soil tonight as well.
cheese is growing fast now, everyday a substantial difference. all the flowers are rock hard on her, i will def use fire heavily around week 2-3 to halt the vertical growth next round. There are many nodes that wouldve been better connected. Shes also showing signs of reaching full maturity now, a lot of the hairs are turning and and the trichomes are getting nice and opaque. Def 7-8 week strain, she smells insane too, though the strongest most putrid smelling one is the abusive tundra og, smells of garlic, spices, pine and a soft honey smell also. i stuck my nose in a flower tonight for a whiff and had to pull my head back it smelled so strong.

Im going to keep most of the strains around except for the strawberry blue, going to get packs of her for outdoors/greenhouse one day down the road. Shes a great strain just doesnt hold up to the AT OG or cheese.
The grandoggy purps is bomb but i think i may still like the original gdp better, well see after a smoke test in a month in a half or so.
C99 is staying around for outdoors, shes fast, smelly and looks great. the plant i have outside far surpasses the ones indoors.

Im sticking to growing the AT og and cheese for awhile, going to dial these strains in before i move on to anything else. These girls truly are special, two more weeks for the cheese and 3 weeks for the at og, next cheese watering is a flush.

Also, idk if i mentioned but i decided to do half the room ushio hps and other half solistek hps as a side by side test. cheese is the only strain that is on both sides, ushio hps is def better than solistek. Ushio side shows faster maturity and bigger flowers, smells are slightly different as well.

CO2 ppms now set around 900

Things are lookin great around here, the strawberry blue is a very heavy yielder and easy to grow. def recommended for beginner growers. Im 4 days in to week 7, the cheese gets the chop coming up quick, they are stinky white/teal colored buds, all rock hard. super stoked to have it around. been giving water with final bloom and recently switched to an final phase for the flush, with such a fast flowering strain its hard to get in the full two weeks of flush but theyll get 10 days at least.

all the other strains are either 8 or 9 week strains and they will be getting flushed for the next 2 weeks. pictures to come, branches breaking even tho theyre staked/tied up. gotta love it!

finishing up round one, pics

finishing up round one, pics

at 8 1/2 weeks now, took the uk cheese half of the room down at day 50, still have 11 going which look/smell much better. i obtained an avg of 3.25 ounces off each plant being 25 plants total i got 5.1 lbs off the 3 lights. about .75 gpw which is great to me, makes me think 1 gpw is within reach given the right numbers of plants/veg time ratio.

the rest of the plants are looking bomb, really happy with the results, ill be changing the nute line up a little bit next round but nothing significantly different.

Here are some pics of the plants that are coming down soon, when the soil dries.

Grandoggy purps and C99 look awesome but saving the photos of them for when theyre done.

the strawberry blues showed many phenos, some strawberry leaning, some evenly balanced, and some blueberry leaning which look to be the longer flowering ones.

1 - abusive tundra og
2 - strawberry blue lanky strawberry pheno resin shot
3 - strawberry blue shorter strawberry/blueberry onion poo purple pheno, favorite plant in the room
4 - strawberry blue same pheno as #3
5 - original UK cheese, aka exodus cheese

thanks, ppms were ranging 1200 - 1550, canopy stayed at around 84.5 degrees until week 7 i dropped the ppms to 500 - 900 and temp to about 76. this allowed the odors to really come through. the swollen look of the calyxes came from the yellow bottle final bloom, great stuff

Pics of the finished product soon, yield is roughly 11# off of the 6 lights, ill know for sure how much in a few days. Cheese turned out good but will be great this next round, abusive tundra og ranks in the top buds I've ever seen, smells out of this world.

Thanks bonzo! The gran doggy purple is excellent given the right pheno, it's curing out ATM but I smoked a j this weekend and it turned out soooo smooth, def a keeper, very nice stone. Happy cannabis any cloth pot is better than a traditional non breathing pot, I know for a fact I wouldn't have yielded as high if they were in 5 gal plastic pots. Some of the strawberry a pulled over 5 oz out of 5 gal pots. Bigger roots, bigger buds!
