Considering I lost a week in the hospital, i'll give you a week to report back to me if it works or not. I was lucky enough to have a private room for all but one day, so i've had lots of time to mull the idea over. However we all know how theory and reality don't always match up ;). Congrats on the new house also, making me want to relocate.

Congrats on the new space, Bobbles! Hopefully the lessons learned on the current space will make the new spot easier to tame! Looking forward to seeing what transpires.

Also look into what capulator ec is, last I remember I think he is feed 500 ppms, and claims he has the healthiest plants he has ever grown...

I got what you're saying bro... I was just busting your chops for changing from EC to ppms... lol I know a lot of growers talking about running 2-4EC, and it's ridiculous... Just cause some plants might not have a visible adverse reaction doesn't mean they actually use all that fertilizer. I'll be checking my runoff the next time I head up north.

do you have a change of dia in your lines or rough fittings that could cause a cavitation?

Yes there is a change in diameter... and I'm using stock fittings so they shouldn't be rough... Hopefully I have the problem solved now. We'll find out soon enough.

Are you saying I should add a bathroom and a bedroom in the basement to make a 3 bdrm 2 bath house? I already plan on putting a bathroom in the basement actually so that I can gut the one upstairs. ;)

I feel you on not being able to keep a plant alive! ha ha... How do you get salt buildup in the walls? From the ocean?

Thanks D! It's like candyland out here with all the cheap real estate... It's too bad most of my peers are too busy spending their money on alcohol and leasing a vehicle. :biglaugh: dumbasses... 2 more years and I won't have any housing expenses! Just property taxes! I'm so stoked... When I'm a medical professional, my money will be mine. I am a slave to no man.

Lessons? What makes you think I've learned some lessons? lol...

Thanks A. I'm super stoked about the new spot. I'm even gonna get a dog! :woohoo:

I'm not giving up on them... I've said it many times that when they work, they work great! But you have to be there to set them up properly before taking off. Setting them up imo and according to blumat instructions, takes at least a week. Once I get the new spot up and running, I might finally get that vacation I've wanted to take for the past year.... Maybe next summer... Freds and I have a long overdue week long smoke session.

On the real estate tip, if you add a bedroom and a bathroom in the basement, they won't be OFFICIAL bedrooms or bathrooms (from a listing standpoint) unless there is walk-out access from your basement. Most states fire codes won't allow a room in a basement to be considered a bedroom unless it has windows large enough to escape from in a fire situation.

SO even if I subdivide my basement into 4-5 rooms, I still have a 3 bedroom house, not an 8 bedroom house.

That won't stop someone from buying it and USING it as a bedroom, but on the official listing, you'd still have a 2 br/1 bath if the extra bath and bedrooms are in the basement.

Yea, Around here if we want to call a new space in the basement a bedroom (officially) it must have a window that can open as well as a closet.

Not too hard to do.. closet can be just a little bump out to another area of the basement and the window install can normally be sourced on Craigslist for not too bad of a price. Existing small glass block or similar window removed and a "window well" dug out to allow a large open in window.

It's not that I doubt you FF... but how? lol... Seriously, exactly how do you have yours set up? Every time I do it, there is air in the line, and too few or too many drips over the course of a few days. I mean I've been purging the line every week, to find there is air in the line every week! I think I've eliminated the air... I completely saturated the pots like you told me to, and then adjusted the cones to a cling. Not +1 or 2... to a cling. Some pots were still ending up too dry. That's with #5's. Hopefully it'll be easier in my #3's. I find that #2's and #3's are easier to get dialed.

Hey,

Nothing special.. I'm sure you've stopped in my thread before.

I literally just have a 55 Gal Reservoir elevated as high as I can in the basement. Out of the bottom of the barrel I have a 1/2" drain fitting that immediately connects to a "T". From the upwards part of the tee I have some blue/clear 1/2" tubing which acts as my water level indicator (and as many suggest allows air to escape before traveling to my blumats). Off of the front of the tee I have 1/2" line leading (a stopcock valve here)..then to my blumats. At plant level it just forms a ring back into itself and blumats are fed off of each kent systems tee punched into this ring.

I do not have an air bleed off valve at plant level as I've never experienced air lock issues. During initial setup I drench heavily (I make a mess with run-off) by hand and then leave my blumat wide open for a minute or to to spit out any air in the lines. Then I dial to cling + 1 arrow and leave em be.

Thats it for me and I've had great success. I live there, but seriously don't mess with them again.. and have left for little vacations around 1 week at a time. I do make sure to top up my barrel before it gets too low (maybe 15 gal left) to ensure I dont encounter pressure issues. I'll likely set it up to circulate with a floor res to eliminate this problem and make it easier to mix nutes (right now its a bitch to mix as my barrel open top is right at the ceiling).

For what its worth I use straight Atami coco...not packed, but bouncing the pot a few times to allow it to "settle". FloraMicro/FloraBloom..sometimes pro-Silicate (as pH up if needed), and Bloombastic from flowering week 2.5 - flush. Thats it.. I recently started using drip clean. I do not use airstones or anything in my res. In my previous place I just used a small 160gph pump to keep things a churnin'. New place I didnt bother and things still went fine...prolly not the best advice but eh... I'd toss Zone in there at 1mL/Gal every now and again if things started to smell a little funky..

////

I recently set up a bro doing 4x8 tents and blumats (just horizontal). For him we are doing the elevated bucket thing. Res is 30gal trash can.. pumps to a 5 gallon bucket on the high shelf.. blumats feed off of it. Here we did experience a run-away after initial setup, but I cannot put my finger on what had caused it. After re-set it hasn't occurred again.

Good luck on the new place! Shit's fun acquiring new RE...especially when re-sale doesn't even matter..lol Keep it shakin' and movin'. Protect your wealth and dont play the banks' (money for nothin' club) debt games. Thats freedom...sounds like you've got it figured.. Good luck.

@Flower farmer; i have experienced the same results. 10+ grows, 1K-6K, nothing but better than expected yields and more free time.

Dont give up on them Bobble, they will outperform most hydro systems, in my experience.

great to hear you have another house lined up.

Keep on keeping on!

How many feet of head do you have? How many feet of tubing?

Blumat rule:
"If only one deep tank is required it should be positioned at least 0.5 Meter higher than the Tropf-Blumat unit for every 5 meter of tube length. For example: for feeder tube with a length of 10 m the tank needs to be at least 1 m higher."

bobble!
still fuckin with the blumats????
If you can only see the grow once a week I'd do horizontal lighting, tables, and pump/manifold style coco DTW with big reservoirs or hydroton ebb/flow. With Ebb/flow you can get away with not changing the res for 2-3 weeks just top off or add back if needed.

An absentee grow should be a simple low maintenance setup which will provide a consistent flow of quality product out the door.
I only run vertical because I live at the grow and can check the rooms at least once a day.

Thanks a bunch for the input guys... Like I've mentioned previously, as the rooms empty out, I'm going to switch over to DTW buckets... Except for the octagon. Getting equal pressure to each level in a vertical grow is a bitch, and then there's collecting the runoff...

In other news... My new feed manifold works! I only had to open up maybe 10 of the blumats just a little bit to completely saturate the bags. I think the tropf works best with a 1-3gal bag, but they can work with a 5 gal just fine as well... But an established plant will dry the bag out pretty damn fast, so adjustments need to come faster. Anyway, I took the flouros out of the octagon so it can start flowering again!

Honeywhite bx2. Thanks to highliter for these beans. They're "the white" x legend's high end, backcrossed to "the white" x2. So far 9/15 have germed in 3 days. I'm still holding out for the other 6.

Headband @ 9 weeks. I chop next week.

Chem D/Straw DD grow... 4 weeks. I finally have the blumats dialed and the roots are growing out the sides of the bags! Blumats will work... but you have to be there to set them up right! That's just my $0.02. I think I could have got more stretch out of these girls had I been there to make the adjustments when they were needed.

Looking good homey. I feel you on getting equal pressure to multiple levels. Wound up just using a different pump for each of my three levels. Little bit of a pain in the ass, but is a lot nicer not having to water everyday.

Keep it green dude.
