Here are my first 2 big ones for summer. They are in 125gal boxes in cinder soil they are both Columbian crosses the one in back started in March wanted to bud so did the old super topping and now she regrowing at 32 in tall and 36 in wide been in box 6 days and just starting to take off the one in front same strain but started April and she is 26in tall and planted in box 3 days ago. The small one I'm not going to top. I like the X-mass look I feel the air flow for mold imo and as you can tell height is no issue. I have a 12 ft ladder if I need it. I will show the soil mix latter when I plant the Molokai Frosts. I do a whole strained dirt thing with Hawaiian perlite and ferted and like that. Aloha Sorry but now I can't get the pics from computer on here for some reason I can do it when I post a Reply not a Quick one I'm not re typing I'm way to slow.

Yeah its wet and overcast here for days now. Not much extended sun yet since February, maybe a couple days at most, then back to rain and grey skies. All my friends saying this is not normal yr so far. I'm thinking it will dry out later in the yr, which is actually better. My vegging plants love the rain, my flowering plants hate it.. Its a roll of the dice with tradewind weather..
This is the kind of weather that puts buds tot he ultimate test. My gauge has read low of 65% and high of 91% humidity for weeks now. It's usually over 70% at any given moment.
I have even managed to seed two different Panther moms and a Northern light clone and a Local strain in all this humidity. The seeds look to be done within the week or so:)
Im needing to build a couple boxes like yours there Dirtboy, I'm impressed. I wish I had 5 of those yesterday, lol Good luck and may the force be with ya :)

Really nice Bra!! Those are going to get huge.
I had to comment on this. I have plants that are over head high already. They are bushy as hell and screamin for a bigger container. Im actually afraid to do it. I cant believe I said that, I cannot believe this is my predicament this year. My friend told me not to plant these till I had no height restrictiveness...
I believe these plants will be 12+ ft tall no problem, from seed, first time in Hawaii.. OMG !!!He said they would get 16-20, and now I believe him.. Oh shitttt, lol

Looks like we might get to finish our dry season after all. I was worried that we were going to see nothing but rain through June, but it seems to be backing off. I'll get to finish up the Z99 before things get too nasty. After that, a run of some Ace gear to keep me company through the rain. Will probably just try for a seed run. Wouldn't mind having a couple hundred Phaze/Thai and Panama (and hybrids thereof) to play with for a few years.

Bra this Island is loaded with pigs.
LOADED, totally loaded. Scared one outa my Ganja tonight at dusk, took off running through the bushes. I thought it was a person at first, but it was a pig.

I have decided to build a light dep in the back yard. Im gonna light dep these Nevilles Maddness so they will finish before the flood. They are already 6 ft plus and as big around.. I was thinking of putting them into a 100 gallon, but now think that they will get way too big and way too stinky for where I live. I have decided to do 65 gallon and put them in the light dep. First time trying this in Hawaii..
I planted a bunch of new genetics about 2 weeks ago. I am happy to say that the crack was a success and I have a bunch of healthy seedlings. Here is a list of my new crew
5 Velvet Rush x (NL5xNevilles Haze)
3 Malawi Gold
4 SoCal Dawg (ChemD Clone x ChemD)
5 Spicy Thai
5 SoCal Geisel (Mass Super Skunk x ChemD)
They are ready to be transplanted to 1 gallon pots and put into the sun :)
I will post pics tom

Nice line up. What the Nevill would be stinking up the whole block? Bra I know what you mean the smell travels. The ones in the boxes are going both at 4 ft and put some cages like the guys on the mainland. This is my first cages. The Trainwreck X 707 didn't make it through this last 2 weeks of humid weather, bud rot was starting, so it came down a week early but I have smoke and hope the weather is good at the end of this next batch of plants which are Train x Twisted sis so far this cross smells the best and at 2 weeks choked with crystals .Like Oldhoale said when you get to harvest cause they are totally ready is a real treat and this summer will be a winner. How bad are the bore beetles where you are at? The little caterpillars and leaf minors are raging at this time of year.I will put up some pics tom or tom tom lol Latters Bra

If you do this right, you will wonder how you got along with out them before :) The cage is crucial to yield. The plant, with the aid of the cage, does not put as much effort into fiber production because the cage supports the branches. Instead, all effort goes to making more branches and more bud sites. You are gonna love the "cage" :)

Sorry to hear your Buds did not make it Dirtboy808, Its a jungle out there.

How bad are the bore beetles where you are at?
Well, Not sure. I don't seem to be having any problems. I do spray my veg plants with insecticide at a monthly interval, so I think this keeps the bugs down.My homie has a big problem with those suckas.. Man, he gimme some clones and Bore Beetle ate em up.Had like 5 beetles in every 6" clone. I hate those damn things.. So I got rid of em, laters Beetles..

The little caterpillars and leaf minors are raging at this time of year.
Yeah no shit, I hate them also.. I dont have a problem with leaf miners, but I do see caterpilla damage. Im gonna go get me some Monterey Garden catterpilla killa juice. I seen it at Ohana in town. I have to say, they have awsome prices. Even cheaper on most items than I got in California, go figure...
I am gonna spray BT for these guys also. Gotta a problem with them in my buds that are in the bush. I have noticed that the bugs eat my strains that are not up to par potency wise. They never touch my chronic, frosty plants, I think its to potent and nasty for most bugs. So they focus on the lower potency plants. I hardly ever see damage on really good strains. The way I see it, the bugs help me do selection, and I work with them, not against them most of the time. I hardly ever have to spray, I only do it once a month in veg because I noticed that the bush plants are just a lot more healthy and robust when I do spray. I rarely have to spray in flower. I will just cut off insect damage and rot. The only thing I have sprayed is Greencure when flowering, and as I said, I hardly ever even have to do that.

Got flown by Green Harvest again this week. 3 times in 3 days. They are all over the place these last couple days. We have seen the coast guard, the national guard, DEA and local Leo. They go right over my plants, but have never come low, or circled or hovered for that matter. I know they see em, they are HUGE..But they keep right on flying:woohoo: I do play my numbers right, so I think that has everything to do with it. If this is how its gonna be, I can work with this. Less plants=less hassle.
I feel my biggest issue is gonna be land sharks and my chickens, as these buggahs LOVE to eat my ganja plants. They eat all the lower leaves and buds off, dig around in the soil and actually eat the rockwool cubes and the coco crumbles I use. Not to mention they love to take dirt bathes in my bigger pots, digging up all the top feeder roots.. STOOPID FRICKIN CHICKENS.. They are on house arrest till the green house gets completed here today or tom. If that doesn't do it, in the soup they go :)

I harvested my seed plants a couple days ago. Went 6 weeks, seeds were splitting they bracts. The damn birds were eating more and more seeds everyday so I pulled em. It was a total success. 3 plants, 3 new strains :)
First up was the Panther x Blueberry that will be known as Blue Panther. This was a resounding success. The plant was not even a foot tall, well maybe a foot, and stacked like a champion..The buds smelled like tropical Bluberrie Muffins and purpled up here in the heat. She got the blueberry pollen.
It has been drying for days and the seeds are falling right out. I have collected over 500 seeds from this one plant so far. Im gonna split em with my house mate, so looks like I will have 250-300 seeds of my own .

Second plant was a Panther x Bluemoonshine. Thiswas an interesting plant, HUGE fist sized buds. This one , if grown in a dry climate will yield bonkers weight. The buds had a spicy, fruity, pungent smell, that permeated beyond any other smell. You could smell all 10 different bud plants I have, and that one panther stayed on your nose and upper lip, it was really stinky. So she got the BlueMoonshine, which is one of my biggest, stinkiest, heavy yielding plants. I can't imagine them getting any stinkier, but this marriage to the Panther might do it. Not gonna be grown where smell is a concern . Got maybe 350 seeds

Third plant was the CatDog, which I found out is Cataract Kush x ChemDog. I Crossed this to the Batman, which is Purple Widow x Double Purple Doja x Purpurea Ticinesis. whew, that a mouthful, lol Anyway, I call this the Batdog.. Looks like I got about 75-100 good seeds. The Batmans all had purple stems, branches and balls that were purple. I killed the green phenos as I wanted to purple up the Catdog. Should be a crazy hybrid.

Damn Hermi's

Damn Hermi's

Well, went to transplant one of my Nevilles Madness, and found another hermi.. This makes 2 outa 4, not good. I'm thinking that this strains reaction to natural day length is the reason. I guess these were indoor seeds, cause 2 of em tried to flower in May and June, and both went hermi. Other reason is cause they are in a 7 gallon pot still. Oops.
I picked off all the balls and put her in a big pot. I m gonna light dep this one, hope it stops the herm thing. What a waste of time and energy :(

June 17 2012 : UPDATE.
I figured out what mistakes are making my plants herm. #1- THE HOUSE LIGHTS...
DOH!! I know better than this. The strain is an indoor strain I do believe. Its first tendency is to herm, being a pure sativa and all. The house I'm in is a two level. The windows up high reflect light into the back yard and the plants responded. Its very dark otherwise around here. I fixed the light leaks with a little black plastic and a couple clothespins on da curtains and voila, darkness.
Mistake #2 ROOTBOUND...
This strain has a massive rootsystem. I had them in 2 gallon airpots, then transplanted to 7 gallon hard buckets. They exploded in growth, growing to 4ft in every direction with tons of branches and budsites, this was in May and early June. Due to financial reasons, I put off buying more soil and big pots. With that crises out of the way, I now have them in 50 gallon pots. The house has been blacked out for 3 days and the plants have room to grow. I have not seen another herm flower being produced. In fact the plant is growing in every direction, and I only see female flowers busting out in every direction. I am praying that she likes the new love and does not herm again.

rain is killin me

rain is killin me

Well, it's been raining for weeks. I got mold on most all my plants. Bluemoonshine= mold, (NL x Bberry) x Hawaiian=mold, Cataract Kush x chemD=mold... This weather is killin da buds, no good.. I have not seen a week straight of sun since feb 3.. I feel bad for all the bush grows .
The mold itself is from caterpillar damage mostly,or buds that are wet for days on end. I sprayed greencure, but with all this ran , I don't think it did a thing. The buds are yellow on the inside also, from lack of sun for weeks. I NEED A GREENHOUSE..
On another note, Im now curious to find some plants that can handle low light, rainy overcast conditions and still fill out. Who cares if the plant can handle rain if it stays small, and never fills out because of lack of sun. This is the problem I am facing now. I guess I can blame this on el nino, or so I was told.

JOJO A green house is a good thing. My budding are under cover and have PM but only the Whitaker Blues has bud rot. The ones vegging out side are loving the rain. I got one at 5 1/2 ft and no signs of slowing down. The other big one is starting to bud, it is Colombian cross so will grow 3 or 4 more feet , these bud forever. I finally got the worms under control they are out in force now. Latters DB

JOJO Good and bad news. Bad it looks like it will be wet till next week. Good is NOAA says we have a above average chance to have a dry July. This will be a good mold test time.

Thats why I do this thread, to help others out to not waste they time with strains that cannot handle steady rains, no sun and then extreme heat and sun with high humidity. I'm the guinea pig so to speak..
As to the weather, Buds hate it, Veg plant love it.. What you gonna do,lol
Well here is what I did. I built a black box with a 400w cool tube. I took my outdoor plants and put em in there. It's a 6x6x8 framed room, covered in black 6 mil plastic under the 2 story house. I put my plants in the room everyday at 5:30pm. Its light here till about 7-715 or so, then black darkness till 530am or so. I have the cooltube on a timer to turn on at 530am. The plants get a full 12 hours of sun, regardless of the weather. On sunny days they go out in the sun, on rainy days, under da light :)
Most importantly , my non native strain's get a 12/12 cycle and will not bolt and run and herm like I have had problems with..
I also have a room built for 18-24 hr light for mothers n clones. Have had that since feb :)
The next project, which will be completed this week is te green house. Im building 2 12x18 poly tunnels. I have all the materiel and am just waiting for a dry day to build em.
I learned a big lesson last night. It was humbling to say the least.
I learned that today's market does not care about pedigree. Does not care about gentic background. The market does not care. Yes there will always be some who do, and they are there, trust me. The real lesson was on PRICE and Bag appeal. Yup MONEY...Just like Cali. All these super Sativas and pedigree hazes I have, which are well done and wonderful, smoothe smoke dont mean shit to these folks, all they want is hype weed. And I thought this would end when I left Cali, WRONG...
If you got da hype cheap, and I mean CHEAP, your making money. If you got da goods and want to be paid fairly for your hard work and risk, your shit gets moldy and stale, or you smoke it all for free, while everyone loves it, but wants to pay for Og this or that.... No one will buy unless its hype weed.. Its a buyers market..All I see is cali swag import. All homegrown is head stash.. And the homegrown that is sold is swag.. Nothings changed here..Hawaii, Big Island is lame in this regard, too spoiled I do believe, so much good weed here and all they want to spend money on is hype weed, lol But if you wanna get rocked off your socks with your own weed, and everyone just gives it away, no place is better :)

Thank god I have not had to buy a bag in over 15 yrs :)

The only REAL mold proof jungle strains so far are the Neville's Madness (Neville's Haze x Mullimbimby Madness) and the native Hawaiian sativas I have. I have a couple local hybrids that im still not sure about, at least not enough to say they make the cut These are plants I just leave out in the rain and the sun, and they suck it the fuck up.. The buds dont mold, they do they thing in downpours and in sun.
2main drawback's to the Neville's Madness though..
One is they are prone to hermi from stress of any sort. Once I stabilize these beasts, which will not be hard to do as they are well bred already, I will be able to sort the hermi thing out next generation .Its from being indoor bred i do believe.Light cycle issues for a generation or so i expect, easy to sort out.
Second is root mass and foliar mass size, these babies wanna get BIG. They hate small pots.. They love this climate and outgrow the pot very quickly, rootbound as all hell very quickly. So if I don't want huge plants in huge pots, this is not the strain :)

Some hype weed that didn't make the mold cut, Whitaker Blues. The ones I have are 2 weeks into budding and rotting all over on a good note the Trainwreck x Twisted sis is also 2 weeks into budding and no rot same with the 707 cross no rot.

Hi JOJO

Are your PNG mold resistant?

If they are mold resistant and the High is as I've read about, I think that you got the real Grail. You don't need to look for any strain more. Only make seeds from you plants for each time you grow.

I have Sumatrans and I'm bored because they are very oidium prone (no plant without the plague) when flowering and every plant is intersexed, and the germination rate is extremely low.

Greetings and god luck.
