thanks, sqydro!

well, the principles of how it works are the same no matter what size or shape of container or type of plumbing you use. i'm about to assemble a little different plumbing than you have seen here before but it's only to make my work easier and not to improve performance so much.

i think these changes will enhance production though because they will give me better access to the plants to shape and train them.

pics in a few days.

for mothers you usually are not trying to get a lot of fast growth so a simple sub-irrigation system would keep them alive indefinitely. using flo's and weak nutes. i'm going to have to build one now myself.

yeah but il be ravaging them for sogs often so i may need fast growth :) yeah i was thinkin a double barrel sump at opposite ends of a bigger container

some of us replaced recirculating deep water culture systems with single tail-pipe PPK (single barrel sump :) ) because we can get very similar growth rates in both flower and veg without the less desirable aspects of RDWC.

RDWC is known for unreal growth rates and we've switched to something we think is better in some regards so if you're environment and light regime is dialed you will likely be very satisfied with the production rate of your mother plants in PPKs.

peace.

i currently grow RDWC, have done for a while but like you say there is alot of undesirables especialy in hot weather. id love to see a good side by side, maybe a small project for me :)

that would work. i wasn't thinking about taking cuts so much as long term maintenance of stock.

i took cuts from plants that had been vegging under a 1k hortilux. big, strong, fast growing plants.

here is where i entered the house. that's the meter on the right. the box was sealed to the brick with silicon and the wall space filled with foam. i'll foam the conduit where it enters the panel when i finish wiring.

does anyone know of a picture of a properly set up sub panel? i would really like to see the correct way to route the wires.

MadPenguin throws out some great pics and knowledge in this thread:

Starting around post 20, you should pick up some good info on wiring sub panels.

thanks, that's a great read. very informative.

well, i just finished the trenching. 80' about a foot deep. it will have to do as the ground here is rocky with big buried boulders. the house itself is supposed to be sitting on a 100' diameter rock.

i did this with a pick axe and a 4" trenching shovel. i will never put "trenching" on my resume. i hurt all over. so, what's the solution? more painkiller!

Good Lord! I'm a few years younger than you and can't imagine doing that by hand. I thought for sure you'd get a Ditch Witch for that. I hurt just thinking about it.

You're moving right along. Can't wait to see the room in production.

Hey D9, are you planning to run 3 conductors + a ground wire to the outbuilding? Been reading the thread I mentioned and that is required if there is any other conductive path back to the main house/panel. Like a gas line, water pipe, the other sub panel, etc.

it's a race. the seedlings are growing fast now that i've switched to jacks @ about 450 ppm.

i figure 7-10 days to transplant into the ppk's. i have a lot to do before then.

thanks for the pics. mines going to look more like yours.

last night i started wiring the ac receptacles.

the shop had 25-30 receptacles around the walls already. most were wired but not hooked to the old panel so i have been using them.

they had "back stabbed" all of them instead of using the screws. madpenguin says not to "backstab". i've just been cutting them off flush with the receptacle back and using the screws. is this ok?

D9 your forward progress makes me happy.

I am going to redo the rooms with reflectix when the billfold permits.

In fact my brother may have a wholesale hookup on it. Gotta remember that.

Glad the crew has been pointing you in the right directions.

I always use screws.

I make a nice lil loop with my wire strippers that fits the screw whenever I want to be sure and extra safe.

Keep on trucking.

it makes me happy that i make you happy! let's all be happy together!

i hope you make those nasty little root aphids unhappy!

i've never had them. but i understand they can eat a lot of money.

i just finished hooking up all five ac's. i used the old 60 amp panel that was here already. cleaned it up and re-routed some of the old wires for a neater job.

i ran a 15 amp home run for each, all labeled.

the ac's purr.

it was over 90 in the shop so i set the ac's at 74,76,78,80,82 degrees and set the fans on low. one by one the compressors shut down but the fans still run.

on low with all five fans running i get a strong rolling motion that starts across the ceiling, goes to the other wall and heads back to the floor. there will be no dead spots.

with the overhead door open and with me sitting halfway between the shop ac's and the house heat pump the noise from the heat pump overwhelms the ac's.

well, i'm off to lowes for some more shit and then swing by the storage room and pick up a bunch of hydro gear.

tonight when it cools down i'll install the 100 amp panel for the lights.

hey, ashes! normally i have to ask people to post pics but with you i have to ask for information. how about some details? you know, how are you set up? lights, plumbing, etc. especially the etc.

plants are more interesting than electrical panels and that's a nice one. how far along is it?

is this one of those clark kent/ superman things?
