NAH....DO IT...

I've seen a grower take a chopped plant, snip a TRIMMED-ISH nug...ROOT it...and then, yes, re-veg it...

maybe shouldn't say whom - but needless to say, yes, go for it... worse can happen they kill off. And hey, truth is, you know of my recent soil woes...so, I've been pondering the same thing about a ChemSour x Digi Bx1 that I KNOW isn't going to make it another 2 weeks let alone 6...lol. So, I went ahead and took two cuts from this girl to hopefully get another chance at her in the future...and she was supposed to be @ 4.5 weeks, but was stunted at the 10 day mark it looks... =(

Take the plunge with me... ;)

nah...

just back to veg - low or even ambient lighting is fine...remember the more light, the more photosynthesis, the more energy spent away from making roots...or something like that, right? ;)

mad love for the coot and lots of respect to capt for doing what he does...
any who, more "inside" info on the one
Mr. Coot wrote,
"I began collecting seeds from Afghanistan, India, Ceylon as early as 1970 and have continued to do so since then. The strain that I jokingly call "The One" is a plant that I bred from seeds (circa 1970) from Kandahar (the mom) and seeds from the Thai sticks that I was moving in 1977-1978.

I bred and bred and bred the Afghani strain to the point that I was ready to give up. It's a little known fact that the overwhelming majority of seed out of Afghanistan were feral. As a matter of fact it's rumored that the (in)famous Afghani #1 (the base of the overwhelming number of current strains) took over 5,000 seeds to find 'the keeper' and I believe it based on my personal experience. Big time.

Once I had a 'marginally acceptable' Afghani mom I began breaking open the Thai seed group. It didn't take long to find 'the deal' and when I did I bred it to the best of the best on the Afghani deal. I then bred one of the male plants from this breeding back to the mother plant resulting in a plant that is basically 75% Kandahar Afghani and 25% Thai"

They're coming back strong after some marginal winter kill. The bin is in an unheated shop and the bedding got down in the mid 30's this winter.

Got a lot of juvenile worms hatching. I have recycled all the vermicompost through the top to get the cocoons to hatch.

btw we've got some clover sprouts in the 16 containers i put out! on our way!

the last 4 containers didn't fit on my friend's balcony. i think i am going to give them to my better half for her growing herb and vegetable container garden. i'm extremely happy that my hobby has become infectious!

please tell me your experiences with rooting cuts from flowering plants!

i'd like to give it a shot with a couple of the gals in my cab right now. is it worth it? or am i headed for certain doom?

gotta prune off the lower bits anyway, so....

Heady,

I've had decent success taking clones in early flower (first 3 weeks) and I treat them just like any other clone - 18/6 subdued lighting in rapid rooters with Hormodin 3 as my rooting agent.

I've had much less success when the plant is closer to finishing, especially with Indica strains - it's tough to keep the humidity high enough to encourage the plant to thrive without the flowers (which the plant is going to shed as it moves back to vegetative growth) starting to rot and mold and that just makes a mess of everything.

to = the one.

as far as i can remember, a group of socal cannabis importers in the 70s and 80s called Brotherhood of Eternal Light (BOEL) started collecting landrace seeds from all over the globe.

believe they were line breeding afghanis and a little thai got in the mix.

from these seeds, a group of elite clones were identified and they have been kept around for ~30 years at this point.

TO and BO (blue orca) are sisters. i believe Velvet Rush is another sister that is also well kept.

BO x NL sounds like some sweet dreams medicine to me :D

Brotherhood of Eternal Love...responsible for @ least 80% of the imported herb and seed into this country back in the day.

Velvet Rush is not a sister to TO or BO,,,it's DJ's Highland Blue Thai (which was only imported by the BOEL for a period of 15 months at the time..circa 1976) x what DJ called the 'Stretch Afghani' AFAIK......b4 the Mexican got into it and Blueberry began construction.....seeds given to CC in 1986 from Mel Frank.

There are 3 living sisters of The TO line from 1984...The One,Blue Orca, and Mary Poppins....3 out of the original 9 phenotypes given to various BOEL members then...AFAI remember.

These are EXTEMELY powerful medicinal types...yet they are not line bred and there are no longer any males of the original breeding available..they have issues with growth structure and yield due to the way they lean towards the sativa or indica depending on environmental conditions.

However, the crosses hold promise for the modern world...and the originals are fine as stash in my pantry.

BO x NL#5/Haze ....tried 3 phenotypes...all smoke the same...Primo head gear.
