If this was your first major defol of them, I'd certainly give them all time to fully recover (new growth) before flipping the switch. Otherwise, a handful won't recover as quickly as the rest and miss out on a bunch of the stretch, be runts, get shaded out, and not produce much at all for you.

That was my first intuition (and the reason I didn't flip last night) so I think I will follow your advice on this and let it go a few more days. If things get too out of hand I can always get some kind of V-screen in the "doughnut hole" and then twist tie plants to that screen.

I actually thought about doing something like that last round, when I had those chicken wire cages around the lights. Basically, making a big chicken wire "fence" around the outer dimensions of the lower tier's central hole that stretched up 3 feet or so on four sides with some kind of dowel or rebar in the corners to keep it nice and rigid.

Then anything on the bottom tier could be adjusted to eliminate gaps in the wall.

I`ve never hacked and whacked on such little plants , so wait till they start puttin out new growth again as TTC stated....and then.....

I have been hacking and whacking on little plants for 3 years or so. I'm not worried I defoliated too much, I'm actually a bit worried I defoliated too little. I can't be sure from just 12 hours but I'd swear they're still growing despite the haircut two days ago. I'll know for sure by tomorrow.

I just topped off 40 gallons in my res, so I've used somewhere in the range of 40 gallons in a little over a week. I'll try to remember to post again when I top it again so that I can look back at this post and gauge exactly how much juice i'm running.

Theoretically, if I'm feeding for 20 seconds x3 per 24 hour cycle, and each of my pumps is 396 gph, then I should be pulling 6.6 gpm per pump, so a total of 13.2 gpd on average.

As far as I can tell from reading back in the thread, I last topped the res up on the 28th, so that means I used approximately 40 gallons in ten days time or four gallons per day among 65 plants.

Ok. Got a humidifier in there on the ground in between the two fans. Relative Humidity was hovering between 44% - 60% during lights on (presumably, 60% is right after I water). I just reset the hygrometer. Hopefully the next time I check it the humidity will have clambered up closer to that idyllic 75%.

Hopefully your bulbs won`t explode from the mist the humidifier`s puttin out Bro....

Water on bare bulbs ain`t a good thingy....Hopefully the mist is fine enough to be dissipated quick and not land on the bulbs .....

70% RH is optimum with 45% bein the best in late bloomage to prevent airborn nasties with major air exchange...

Peace...DHF....:ying:.....

It's a 'cool mist' Humidifier that doesn't put out a noticeable vapor. It says in the instruction manual that the only way i'll know its working is by watching the reservoir empty.

It's also sitting almost 4 ft. below the bulbs. It's basically in the path of the intake so hopefully it has a chance to affect room humidity before being sucked out of the room.

I thought that would be a relatively safe bet. One nice thing about the Philips CMH is they are rated for open fixture use. They have the gas-filled lamp surrounded by a second glass outer sleeve. If the lamp fails, the outer glass is meant to contain it. Not that I plan to spray water on them just to check.

Appreciate the concern and the word to the wise as always, DHF.

Oh yeah, plants are definitely still growing. If the defolition did anything it made them stumble for a day or so.

You know the green dragon has kicked in when you enter your password but can't remember what a login ID is or what yours might be.

(and then when you remember it comes out Anri on first pass.)

...and then you forget why you logged in and start crawling through some silly sh*t - open youtube - wonder around and remember icmag again but forget logins again.

Best times of my life when you're fixing the house completely baked and search for a screwdriver from the refrigerator.

Good call with the humidifier.

My gut is telling me to flip these ladies no later than tomorrow night.

I am requesting that anybody who reads this to let me know your opinion on whether to flip or not.

Hmm, think I'd want to stick it out another day or two assuming they double in stretch... Just my .02

I feel like flipping now is gonna leave you with a bare spot between your two tiers

Looks awesome and growth between days 11 and 14 is very impressive!

In the last two pics it looks like the plant in the corner is going to be out grown by the plants next to it if you wait to much longer before flipping. I cant say whether to flip though as I grow bigger plants not the smaller ones like you.

How much do these girls stretch?

Whats the average height right now and what are you shooting for?

I did a heath style flooded tube before and for me it was strain dependent.

I waited too long and the strecthy girls overgrew the system.

If this is a stretchy girl I say flip. If shes a bit more squat like a kush I would wait two days.
