i only buy one of each tomato variety. then clone em for staggered harvest. tomatos clone so damn easy. i aint letting the old lady shop for me any more. i got 3 diff kinds of beans and like 40 plants . good thing the dog loves fresh beans. do they make beano for dogs. i put stuff out front all season for neighbors to enjoy with a small free sign. they dont mind the crazy pothead anymore LOL

this year im growing my usual items. habaneros, jalapenos, few different tomatos, and herbs too. catnip, basil, rosemary, lavender to name a few

i am growing catnip right now for the first time... either my shit is fucked up or it is a very slow growing plant. i have a couple seeds that germinated, but are only 1/2" high after 2-3 weeks... :(

is that normal ? :dunno:

when i grew catnip it was slow at first then took the hell off. very fast growing once established. this year i wanna cross pollinate with the scotch bonnett,b huts, cherry peppers and a sweet bell pepper.i get a good amount of bees and the plants will be close together and i will hand pollinate too. my broccoli all were small and sucked. i think when i moved them it messed with em somehow. but one is easilly 5 ft tall and in full flower that i left to seed. its actually pretty and the bees love it

Last year each of our broccoli gave us around a pound,... I was sick of it by the end of the season,... best damned broccoli I've ever had, just too much. Let one bolt, but it still never broke 3' high.

I'm with Superman about the catnip tho,... too many stray's in the area, and my cat's are indoor cats,.... I really don't need them ripping the windows up trying to get out!!!!!!

i like to grow the catnip becuz it keeps my cat from the bitches growing inside. or she shreds the weed plants, i figured if i took the time to grow some weed for me i should grow catnip for my spoiled lil bitch. lol, now just need to have a tuna farm and ill be set.

Shit I get kitties for my garden, I call them "Garden Kitties", they keep down
EVERY single rodent problem....mice...moles...squirrels...ect ect...

I only get girl kitties because they are naturally more hunters then the boy kitties.
Like what does the lion do all day long?? not jack shit lol.

This year I will have ducks for the garden too, 2 of them, and they will
be on bug patrol for 12 hours a day nearly every day of the season :-D
Should be getting them next week, pretty excited. Really excited
to not have to worry about picking off or smashing any squash bugs
or cucumber beetles or any pest bugs at all, duckers should take
care of them all.

Hey gardeners, just discovered this subforum. I currently have an acre tilled under, trying to be as "self-sufficient" food-wise as I can this year. Glad to find a spot to talk about the beauty of gardening!

How do you like the Black Krim? I've some Purple Cherokee going this summer, but I've heard the black/purple varieties can be a little strong for some.

If you mean strong tasting? Then yes they are.The taste can stay in my mouth for quit some time. These things taste UNREAL!I mean It!
I have thirteen going right now.Four of them are re vegged one's.I can't believe how those four came back(looks like a jungle)Trying Champion this year also.To tell you the truth,I like the heirloom one's better than the hybrids, but I still love the taste of the hybrids.

Good luck with the Purple Charokee! They are a little longer to harvest.I've been wanting to grow them as well.

I got sweet peppers too, four of them.

By far, CP's are one of my favorites. They do have a high acidity to them, but i really enjoy that about tomatoes. You can't go wrong, also there is a variety called Berkeley Tie Dye that ave a similar flavor but are a smaller tomoato.

correct me if i am wrong, but does it look like this broccoli is about to bolt.

i got these seedlings last sept and saved two over the winter. i'm guessing they are just mature enough and are about to make flowers. tool old  if i'm reading it right...

i can get some fresh seedlings soon if i am correct...

Yeah, but here's the thing. Was it the only thing in the brassica family you have growing? If so you can collect the seeds and grow out the broccoli no? If it was knocked up by one of its relatives, you might get a cool hybrid out of it.
