I reside in this state too and I'm sorry to hear of your woes groady. Doesnt suprise me too much considering our governors stance on mj. They won't stop invading our privacy until that word has zero meaning. I would love to move out to Colorado, but he wifey has roots here.

And that is shocking Buddle about your freinds cable box!

Cause some shit before you leave. Write a letter or contact writers at all local newspapers.
You would be surprised how often people would love to jump on something to write about.

I dont see anything in that letter that says they will be testing for marijuana. My understanding after reading that letter is that the controlled substances mentioned are prescribed medications, not illegal substances like THC.

i swear it was in the state contract i signed...i'll get a copy in 4 mos. when i return for refills...it's actually been on the news the past few months but didn't think it would effect me since i see a private doctor instead of going to a pain clinic..

They may well be testing welfare cases for illegal drugs but your letter indicates they will be making sure you are not abusing or selling the medications which you have been prescribed or "self medicating" with prescription drugs to which you have no prescription.

yes that is part of it..the state contract specifically states mj and mentions other controlled substances...the new rules are posted on the website of the tn dept. of health..i was told by my dr. mj was part of it and as stated it was in writing on the state contract.. all recipients of long term pain care must agree and sign to get their meds from now on..

Show us a link . I looked at the state website and did a little searching. Im seeing nothing pertaining to marijuana in regards to pain med laws and the laws regarding clinics and such. I am seeing plenty about the registration/data base of prescriptions to individuals and the directives aimed at those who prescribe pharmaceutical pain meds. Nothing about MJ.

That's absolutely absurd.. what are they going to do, deny some person w/ a serious illness if they refuse to take the test? All it would take is 1 person to stand up, and it could get ugly.

cappy, no offense but i don't have a link..best i could do is see if can get a copy of the state contract i had to sign that does expressly say marijuana..sorry if that doesn't make ya happy, but i'm not REALLY happy at the moment either..way too much to worry about that appeasing you...if you live here in tn, go talk to your doc about it, i'm sure he'll explain it a lil more to your liking..

Hate to say it but the fine people of tennessee are getting a taste of what and or who they voted in to run their state. People have incredibly short memories, they don't remember that when the conservatives get in charge they never do what they said they were going to do to get elected, and the people always forget and vote against their own best interests. Get out of tennessee and go back to Colorado you'll be much further ahead.

My guess is it is because of our pill problem here. It's horrible, everyone is hooked. I know 4 people just in the last year that have died from a combo of Xanax and Methadone. The Oxy and Roxy's are horrible here. People eat these pills like candy. Everyday on the radio I have to hear about a home invasion or murder over pain meds. I'm just plain sick of it. The Doctors are the worst problem IMO, they prescribe these meds for just about anything. If you go to the ER for ANYTHING, you are asked "how bad is the pain on a scale of one to ten"? You can say two and walk out with 30 hydro's. That is the root of the problem. Shows how well government regulation works...People need to wake the fuck up. Pain meds are the worst epidemic to happen in this state in a long time, and we are a huge meth producer. Florida is a huge problem for us too. A LOT of our pills come straight from pain clinics in Florida.

this ^^^^^ :yeahthats

Republicans all across America are starting to do things like this.

When you vote for a republican, you get what you deserve....

the GOP has completely lost their minds and their ways. they have become a party of big spending (since Reagan) and getting involved in peoples social lives in a big way. Americans are too fucking stupid to realize what is happening...

They did this shit in FL and found out that only 2% of welfare recipients tested positive. 6% lower than the National average.

if Americans are gonna be stoopid enough to put these ASSHOLES in power then ALL govt workers should be tested, especially law makers... COCK SUCKERS !!!!

Sorry, groady-ho. Didnt mean to come off the wrong way. I had no luck finding a definitive answer to your troubles and was hoping you had a link since you mentioned the info was available on the website.
When it comes down to it, I dont need any explanations "to my liking". I got no personal skin in this game. But if I was posting something here on ICM concerning the drug laws or the Dr./patient/state relationship of a particular state I would make sure what I posted was based on informed fact.

I would think being told by a doctor and getting a letter saying the same counts as informed. Why would he just make it up?

These people get six panel drug test kits for like fifty cents a piece. Why wouldn't they test people for pot if they are worried about drug abuse and misdirection?

Great post man. The current republican party are false conservative ass holes. They have been taking away rights consistently for the past 12 years. They have literally not done one constructive thing. They have drastically increased the sizeof government and the military industrial complex. They stated a war for the sole purpose of giving billions of Tax payer dollars to private armies and oil companies that got them elected.
