Looks like this is gathering steam :respect:

It does indeed, Galahad.

Hey, I've tried to add to your rep a couple/few times and I keep getting "You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Galahad again."

In lieu of actually giving you rep (I will keep trying, though) please know that I do appreciate your comments and participation! :tiphat: :thank you:

Take very good care, Galahad!,

This initiative looks good, especially the constitutional amendment version. Missouri needs this. A Missouri move to legalize all or in part would be huge for the country in general, as MO sits in the middle of the country not only geographically but culturally and politically as well. A battleground for the end of prohibition as it was for slavery.

Good luck.

I get that message often :D Some times I go out and spread rep to random folks just so I can spread it where I want.

Isn't rep limited? Isn't there a daily amount? (I do keep coming back to you and still can't rep you)

Well, doing what you are doing puts a smile on this somewhat weathered--but amazingly youthful looking face ;) :) Thanks :thank you:

yes there is a daily amount but I think there is also a limit to how many times you can rep some 1 with out spreading rep to others. Not real sure but I have run into that a few times when I can't rep someone for for several days unless I spread lots of rep around.
C ya whab. :tiphat:

Thanks! I thought there were some limits and it varies from site to site, IF they have it at all.

I just tried to hit you in another thread (and I have hit others since I mentioned it here) and I still can't.

When will there be an event in the southern part of the state?

I'm working on that, Galahad.

Not to speak out of class, but I don't think they have much faith in our out-of-the-way bucolic backwater down here ;)

I intend/plan to prove them wrong and I'm going to need some help making it happen...

Do you want to register to collected signatures or just sign the petition?

Good morning, Galahad!,

I will say this again, I believe this is a terribly selfish thing. You should be doing a medical bill instead, because that would probably pass. This bill has no chance whatsoever. Bash me all you want, but you have your head in the clouds not me

Hello maybe

You do realize the feeling of persecution doesn't necessarily equate to actual persecution, right?

I have not bashed you. Nor has anyone else in this thread.

My only interaction with you was rather positive in all regards....

May I be a party pooper for a minute? I'm a bit disappointed in the lack of pragmatism displayed by the people behind this initiative. What I mean is, a medical bill most likely WOULD pass, but an all out legalization bill most likely would NOT pass. So, what I'm saying is that you should go for what you can get now, and move from there later when you have a better shot. Either way, good luck. Missouri is a conservative state in general. You'll need it.

Hello maybe

I have been pondering over that since I became aware of this effort. I 'think' it may have to do with "severability"...

IF it is indeed severable then that allows for portions of it to be taken away without affecting the whole of the initiative. Something a court will decide....and once again, not a legislature/politician.

http://definitions.uslegal.com/s/severability/

I will try and find out if there is, in fact, a severability clause in this initiative and let you know either way. IF there is then it is a bonus and should allay any fears of overall defeat without at least a glimpse of hope for any separate portion of this initiative succeeding.

And, again, I sincerely do appreciate your interest and participation in the discussion of this very important matter!

You're right, it is a rather conservative state. That's what amazes even more about these folks, and the amount of folks, coming up to me and broaching the topic of Marijuana/Hemp.

We are in a more changed and aware world than ever before....especially on this topic.

I'll graciously accept your words of "good luck" for the SMCR team and work from that point forward ;)

It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance, maybe4sure.

All the best!

:plant grow:

Take very good care!,

Maybe you can point out to us where you were bashed?

However, I don't think you understand what "severability" means.

Ask, The Messiah (Barry O) about severability...although he's supposed to be a Constitutional attorney and Constitutional law professor he (nor his team) didn't' have the foresight to make Obamacare "severable". It will be their undoing.

Severability will be a savior to this Initiative.

After passage of this Initiative by our electorate in November IF ANY portion of this Initiative faces a legal challenge in court (let's say for this argument - full legalization) and their legal challenge survives (prevails) in court then that portion of the Initiative is severed from the Initiative. Only that portion of the Initiative is severed and the balance of the Initiative (Industrial Hemp and MMJ in this discussion) carry forward intact and into law.

I desire your participation in this thread. With that understanding, why would I have previously bashed you?

Now, on the other hand, if you have a personal desire to be bashed I can certainly accommodate your persecution complex.

IF you drop the ridiculous claim of persecution you are welcomed in this thread and I encourage your continued participation.

Have a great night, maybe! :tiphat:

I really don't know what fantasy world you're living in, but Missouri is a conservative state, and your bill has 0% chance of passing. I went to college in MO, I would know. Every time a bill fails, it gives the prohibitionists more ammo to say, "look, Americans don't want pot." A medical bill? Probably would pass, I'd give it a 75% chance. The problem is that some people who are on the fence about medical are worried that it's a path to legalization, and you're just confirming that for them. If you think people are going to vote for this bill just because medical is part of the bill, you're really really delusional

Maybe4Sure is saying (albeit in a dickish way) that it is selfish to introduce a "full legalization" bill in a conservative state such as Missouri because it reaches for too much at once.

I agree that it is a bold move in a state like Missouri, especially when you consider that so many more progressive marijuana states have not managed to make that jump.

I also agree with him that if it fails, it will be used by the opposition as evidence that Americans don't want it legal.

That being said, what do I know about the attitudes toward cannabis in Missouri? Nothing at all. For all I know it's an all year hempfest.
