What are the genetics of PRE98 BUBBA KUSH?

daheadies

poppin' outta control
Ha its funny, I dont care about my own/family history/lineage what-so-ever, but care very very much about the history/lineage/genetics of herb.. Dunno if that means I need to reevaluate my priorities.. Anywho, thanks again to anyone and everyone who is contributing to this thread!!

Tom...every once in a while you hear someone say there may be some Deep Chunk in Bubba...any chance of that?

Also if you wouldn't mind how about a take on differences/similarities of Bubba, Bomb Threat and Deep Chunk? I have been putting off DC cause I figured I couldn't make it yield well enough...but screwing around with Bubba I can get it to yield ok...if I could do the same with DC and it is different enough I would pull the trigger on it.

You want to know what I heard...can't say if its true but here it is....

Its probably the Original og ,but maybe chem 91 crossed with a mystery humboldt indica....this created the West Coast Dog....then the WCD was crossed back to the paki kush (og parent)...and this is the bubba kush...like I said..may or may not be true.

This is all too confusing and mysterious....
At the moment I'm so tempted to pop one Peyote Purple seed and discover what is this fuss all about..... I've never smoked any kush strain whatsoever.
Peyote Purple is Bubba Kush "humo pheno" in seed form - that's what I read here on forums.... That's what I know. How they did the breeding job in CBG I don't know and what "humo pheno" is I don't know....

I happen to be growing out Peyote Purple right now...

Here is what Wesos told me about it...

bubba kush mint (purple) pheno x bubba kush katsu cut

I found the most beautiful silver blue female in a pack of Bubba Kush beans via orginkid. She was a long and lanky sativa looking specimen with the most beautiful poddies...alas peyote name.

Then, I crossed her to the Bubba Kush (Katsu cut) gifted to me from brother IGT. A pandoras box of flavors and colors came out of this effort..alas olive green, (peyote) purple, deep green, etc. I honed in on the Peyote Purple. Some beans went to brother Charlie from this lot. Subsequently, he found his baby doll...lol

Charlie being Cannabiogen. It is a beautiful plant...I cannot wait to smoke it. It is a stretchy, lanky thing and I only hope it has that cerebral component to it

What I am not sure of is...is the Katsu cut an s1? that would make Peyote an s1 x s1...no?

edit...you gotta admit there is a visual similarity to Deep Chunk at least. Does not necessarily mean they are related...but you can see why it comes up.

Here is a nug cut about a week early imo...euphoric at first followed by stone to the bone in a narcotic way...

its all hype and catchy names , when it comes to clones i dont buy into it , i prefure poping seeds and finding winning phenos !!

And if you then just flower out and harvest that phno without taking cuts or making seed said pheno dies until someone runs across it again and has the foresight to do so.

And you're missing a bet since there are a good many strains that are clone only ( essentially) and then of course there are those in seed form that are not what they are purported to be.

Me , well I don't put all my eggs in one basket either way.

Great storys and pics, I wish I had a pre 98. But I just got an ol master kush

I've got them both , don't under-rate that Master Kush , good smoke and good genetics , clones readily , hardy , pretty fair yield........nothing really wrong with it marketplacewise except that it doesn't carry OG in the name , I've heard folks call her the old abused whore of the Kushes , I don't care I'm keeping the strain based on it's performance for me.

Also, when not topped, my pheno of Bubba is very very easy to pick out of a random group (even in veg) because of the horizontal branches, rather uniform growth, and decent stretch... Does that description stand out to anyone/ sound like what they have? (and if so, which is it?)

Anything like this?

Nope she is a Katsu special Pheno that is what kaiki has said. It was found by someone in his group of growers there in Spain. It was initially only a limited release but the hype has turned it into a staple in there gardens now.. Your right about the the ratio of males. They found a few males so they could not offer it as a S1.. When this strain first came out I had a few conversation's with Kaiki about it so if the story has changed ???

story has not changed, you are probably right, i will ask him, just to confirm and not to misinform

In my experience and like's, Peyote Purple it's a big improvement in the Bubba Kush "line" comparing the -katsu- with Peyote Purple; I prefer Peyote Purple .

i found this @ **********.eu... might be true.. who knows

Jerry bred his Chem Dog cut to a Humboldt county indica boy. This was the beginning of his cubing proccess. At BX3 he got a pheno that had all the smell, taste and kick of the Chem Dog, but in a pure indica pheno. Jerry gave this plant to Bob. It became known as the West Coast Dog. Bob bred this plant to my Old World Kush male. He took a male from that cross and bred it to the OG cut Putz had sent him. This is what made the original Bubba.
