The real deal SPG is going to prove difficult to make S1's of... she doesn't want to let the pollen fly when reversed. I've crossed her with many different lines to create a wide pool for further line-breeding, and IMHO the GFxBB is one of better GF hybrids I've made, and will give ANY GF line a run for her money. I personally think SPG Bx's are not the way to go, and have been done to death. It is a poor breeding strategy for highly heterozygous clones like the SPG. The BB offers just the right amount of colour, flavour, and sweetness to the mix and you get the F1 vigour and none of the problems with auto-flowering that you'll find in GF BX lines.

C99 is a weak comparison of the GF... the smell is simply not there compared to the BC original.

my 2 cents,
-Chimera

Wow! In a few lines you condensed years of breeding experience and knowledge, my friend, enlightening the right path to the best grapefruit out there....:tiphat::thank you:
Just grabbed a pack of your GFxBB and Cplus to enrich my grapefruit- citrousy gene pool...
NYCD, SPG S1 (courtesy of alpine seeds) with Swt3 freebies (mosca's too) and some Glo f2 (Tnx Dimodz!! :)).... IT's going to be interesting this year... :dance013:

As far as I understood, so GFxBB is an F1 of a sort of a modern, raw, un-worked version of sweet tooth, but with different BB male, right?

I've got a couple seeds of Mosca C99 x the SPG clone (supposedly the C99 male was of the grapefruit persuasion)..

I got em from a member here, and I have some high hopes :)

Hey Tree King  Found this post from you and figured I'd post some info I found here :ying:

i know it would be alot of work but id love to see spg crossed with sour diesel. youl have no problem selling those seeds and youl get paid also!! same goes with a spg chemdog cross. it could easily be one of those releases where hundreds of packs get sold in 15 minutes

Found something you might be interested in :)

From Hortilab:
Sour Pink Grapefruit

A beautiful Indica/Sativa hybrid between the legendary Sweet Pink Grapefruit clone by Breeder Steve and an East Coast Sour Diesel daddy, dating back to the ECSDv3 line, perfectly combining the well known traits of booth parents.
Very vigorous and easy to grow with huge yields of super frosty and dank buds.

Indica/Sativa Hybrid
Flower Time: approximately 60-65 days

I would hit up hortilab and see when these might be released.

If only there was a male Chem cut... Or a male SPG cut... :blowbubbles:

I would love to get my hands on some of hotilabs ECSDv3 male pollen... I have alot of cuts dreaming of getting knocked up :artist:

My friend from Washington has been growing a Grapefruit clone for over 10 years now... I dont know how long his dad was growing the clone before that. He lives down here now, and the stuff is straight 100% grapefruit.
We also have a mislabeled cut of Albert Walker, we now call "Dago Walker" and its almost more grapefruit smelling/tasting than the Grapefruit clone my bro from Washington has.

Tons of great info in Chimera's strainguide sticky in his forum. Here's the GF and BB info. Lots of other great stuff in there, too. Definitely check it out.

Breeding Stock
Grapefruit - Grapefruit also known as Sweet Pink Grapefruit was introduced to the world by Breeder Steve when he started growing clones he found in Vancouver, BC. He got a tray of clones from an unknown breeder labeled “the only plant to grow” and used it in his breeding projects thereafter. She does excel in flavour and bag appeal, leaves some to be desired in terms of stature... but the yield is good if you get her dialed. She does have some of what I deem negative traits.... her floppy stature and tendency to pre-flower heavily when root bound being up front. Luckily, these often don't appear in hybrid crosses and are easily removed in downline selections given proper selection pressures are applied. - Chimera

DJ Short Blueberry - This Blueberry is derived from original Blueberry, an unreleased line that also fathered DJ Short True Blueberry. Chimera was given access to the room in which DJ Short's male selections were made. He chose several individuals personally, as well as the now deceased B130 male that DJ selected himself, and these selections are the pollen donors for the Joint Projects.
"There is variation in every pack. You WILL find the one that you are looking for in each pack as everyone has differing tastes, the one will be different for everyone. I love the mutant factor! Some of the best resin has come off of the mutants in these current releases. As far as using these strains in breeding projects-GO FOR IT. Every cross that I have seen turns out spectacular. In these new hybrids the blueberry gene is very dominant. A classic example is Chimera's Fighting Buddha. This Burmese cross has heavy Blue line traits(foxtailing, purple stem...)." - Red from Legends Seeds
The pollen inputs from DJ were selected by me from a set of plants DJ chose from the selection run that pre-dated the TBB, F13, GK, etc releases. These inputs came as cuttings, not pollen.
The male known as B130 was but one of the plants who contributed pollen for the Chimera/DJ Short joint projects.
I did make an S1 generation from B130. None of the plant from this generation have been used for any seed release.
I hope that clarifies,
-Chimera

There were more B130 plants in the room than any other pollen donor. If I had to estimate I'd say that %70 of the seeds fom this batch were from B130 pollen. Other pollen donors included the B133 mother of Old Time Moonshine, B25 (the mother of grape krush) and B144(?) (the mother of TBB). I'd have to dig up my notes to see which other plants contributed pollen.

I have a special Rez chemdog ibl ready to shoot pollen for my next freebies round... Do you people think his aroma will merge well with grapefruit?

Anyone knows if Spg was ever outcrossed with cali-O? with a donor father... GFxBB x Cplus should be a citrousy tornado....
Sour pink grapefruit? that sounds tasty!
Great and dense thread....

I grew s1 iced grapefruit and loved it, I would love to have it back in my garden again, same goes with federation mikado. I had mikado x strawberry cough and it was coming up completely magenta and all the sudden it disappeared from my grow with my new grow partner last year who insisted that he didn't know what I was talking about and we didn't pop those seeds yet. Oh well, both are seeds I would like to acquire again.
