Local ban on 'bully dogs' in my area - Required to be put down- sign petition </3

There's about to be some sort of... er law? passed that is going to require all dogs under a certain breed in the state be put down. It's really fucked up.

There is a breed ban set to go into effect Monday the 5th of December all Dobermans, Rottweilers, Chow Chows, German Shepherds, Great Danes, Pitbulls, Mastiffs (all bully breeds), Akitas and Huskies.

German Shepards? What does this mean for police, are they going to be some how exempt from this? K9 officers live with their dogs, they're just like any other pet except they work with them.

If you're against animal cruelty like this absurdity sign this petition please http://www.change.org/petitions/dr-jeannette-m-council-drop-the-72-hour-kill-proposal . I doubt it would be required for drug dogs anyways so not like it matters.

this isn't animal cruelty, its about protecting people from viscous dogs......

most thugs around here walk with these types of doge, its not because they are cute, its because there viscous.....

if some thug asshole is walking with a pitbull and bits me, think he's going to pay for my medical bills and such? NOPE!!!!

which would force me to sue the city and take your taxes that would of otherwise went to better uses....

see, ive been through this, not with a dog bite, but an incident involved with someones dog who made me flip off my bike head first into pavement on a city trail.....

had to sue the city and park district to get my bills paid because that FOB asshole had no money....

I think national statistics show you are more likely to get bit by a golden retriever than you are a pitbull, thing is if you get a good bite by a pit it does a lot more damage. But hell my brother was bit in the face by an irish setter when he was a baby. All dogs have the capability to bite more so when raised by idiots.

Krunch most pits are sweet dogs, docile and loving, you must only have experience with stupid thug dogs which have been beaten and fed turpentine to make them crazy. Those thugs types should be removed from the gene pool, not the dogs fault. Dont let the bully look fool you, get to know a good one and you'll understand.

yep, I was about to say the same thing..I've raised pits since I was 18 and never once had a pit turn violent except for one and he was being teased through the fence by a couple of punk ass 7 yr old's...little fucks would throw rocks over the fence and poke sticks through the fence at my boy....bout whipped their dads ass for it...

anyways a dog is the reflection of its master if a dog is mean it was raised that way...and that is just the way it is...

i actually DO know a few great pits, they are gotti and razors edge, but trained like a motherfucker. have some great pics of them high as shit off of oil, spread eagle on a recliner, sleeping....

and to think about it, the ONLY dog that has ever bit me was a sheepherder, bit my lip right off! had to have plastic surgery, was a little dude then....

but, the fact is, the majority of these kind of doge ARE on the aggresive side....

first off, breed varies..

second, no one is mentioning, alot of "fighting dog breeds", don't have problems with humans, it's more other dogs that you seem them "snap" , and social interaction being raised, if they are raised specifically for "protection" or not.

third, yes call me racist or whatever. alot of certain dog breeds are owned by certain people. do you think millionaires buy pit bulls in general? ...

fourth. I think in general people shouldn't own dogs without a licensing system. 90% of humans don't know how to train / control there dog, then why have it? let alone vet bills, food, toys.... also anyone at work 8 hours a day has no purpose for a dog.. you would see 5% of people would actually pass a licensing system if it were in place...

While I agree that this is horseshit, if you follow your own link you will see that they are talking about animals that come into a specific animal shelter being put down if they are a listed breed, not a state-wide ban.

*edit* I like habeeb's owner-licensing idea! We can implement it at the same time that we do the same thing in order to become a parent.

These dog breeds aren't 'viscous' they are loyal, which can lead to them being extremely responsive to their owners making it so their behaviors can be trained to a high degree.

They don't need to require people to bring these dogs in and kill them! The fuck! They need to require people to keep them in their houses if they are afraid of them.

My opinion is this is a covert choice by the government to remove power from the people. A loyal dog is a violent weapon. With the slow banning of guns, the new NDAA bill, this country is going towards a direction that is leaving people powerless. Military will soon be on the streets and people owning guns will be a thing of the past. Bet you didn't know the federal government is close to implementing bills that override all state gun laws and will allow them to confiscate any guns being shot on private property, regardless of if the owner has a liscense or not. Sounds absurd right? IT IS.

This was just one link I briefly found about it. It's merging to be statewide mandantory. It was litterally all over my facebook this morning. If it were just in 1 shelter in a county that me or none of my friends even live in, it wouldn't be getting this much news.

Whatever the details are, it's still pretty messed up. Wild fires always start from a small ember.

Sorry fella i dont agree with your choice of dogs...gotti & Razors edge breed there everything a pitbull shouldnt be IMO there not pitbulls we want fit dogs not fat dogs...IMO..
