Need a bit of advice

Hey guys here are some pics of the lady at 18 days flower. I'm trying to flower for 8-10 weeks, patience is a virtue right now. Do they look like they are on track? My HPS will be here tomorrow so I will be swapping out the CFLs once I figure out that is remote ballast thing.

I installed the 150W HPS remote ballast today, I have noticed some interesting things. The overall temp in the cab is not cooler then the 6 x 26w cfls by 4-6 degrees. and my external temp is now higher then in the cab by 2 degrees. The HPS has only been in the cab for about 1 hour though. The temp close to the HPS bulb is much hotter then the cfls (tested by hand)

BTW the I have received my Bubblegummer, Grapefruit, and El Aquimista, for my next coco hempy grow. I will be doing the Bubblegummer first in a SCROG.

The only items I'm missing for the hempy grow is the coco and the dyna-gro notes, but I have 7 more weeks to acquire them.

You will "feel" more heat from the single hps than the flour's because of the intensity of the the bulb. Also hps puts off more infrared light. Extracting heat from one source is always more efficent than trying to remove heat from multiple sources. To gain the benifits from a single heat source you need to extract air straight from it. Also you may want to add some hardware clothe "1/4" steel fencing" around the lamp to protect the plants from growing into the bulb. How is the bulb mounted?

Here is a pic of the hps in place and some extra screen material I have leftover.

You can buy another lamp for the veg but it's not required. Since you already have the cfls I'd use them. They seem to have worked for you last time. And since you are not going to be veg'n to the top of the box (to account for stretch in flower.) you'll be fine. How do the look now.

Thanks for the info. She is not doing so well since I installed the HPS, she got pretty burnt while I figured out I needed a cooltube. It was about 2 weeks with no cooltube. Below are some pics of her. On a good note she is smelling good and buds are continuing to grow. She has been in flower for about 5.5 weeks, I'm planning on another 3.5 since it is bag seed and I have no idea of the strain. Hoping it comes out half decent. Should I trim off the dead leaves? All of the leaves under the burnt ones look good.

I did get my hempys all made up today as well as bought some dyna-gro nutes for my next grow, as soon as this one completes. I'm looking forward to the next grow as I have learned a lot front this site and my first grow. I have some renovations planned for my cab as well.

Looks great duece , Try & get them temps down in the cabinet , that bud looks crispy . I can tell ya infaticly that the 5liter coco hempys work great !!!! I have 9 of them in my 3' x3' space under a 400 watt hps . I don't have pics handy but can get them if you wanna see them . their an indica (unknown ) that are 6 weeks into flowering .

your gonna love the coco hempys man :)

dan, I would love to see some pics. I actually change my mind and went with a perlite and vermiculite hempy for my next grow. I want to get the basics down before I go to far. What is the quality impact of crispy buds; i.e harsh smoke, less thc etc? Can I recover from crispy bud?

without having the bud in front of me to look at , its hard to say , is it just the leaves that are crispy or does a portion of the buds feel crispy too ? if they are you might be able to snip out the dry parts & salvage the rest of the bud . good luck dude .
i'll get pics for ya tonight after the wife gets home with her camera .
the perilite vermiculite hempys work great too , i have done them both ways . coco just seems to be a better medium all the way around . less messy after harvest too . but either way your gonna love the hempys , easiest way of growing i've done so far .

So I check on my girl this morning and all her stems including the main stock was yellow with the leaves dropping badly. there was a very strong odor, so I cut her down and savaged what I can. There was a good amount of brown leaves I removed. I had to cut her down 2-3 weeks ahead of schedule with no flush...not looking so good for the smoke. I'm going to cure for the full three weeks and hope for the best.

I dont think curing for 20 weeks will help you on that. Unfortunately.

What exactly were you feeding during these last 2 weeks? Sorry if I missed it.

Seems to be a lot of problems going on.

Sympathies on your loss :badday:

Look at it from the plants point of view. Like a baby chick, plants bond with the first thing they see. You showed them a cfl and said "mother." They believed you and built themselves accordingly secure in the knowledge there was no such thing as a stronger light. And then... BOOM! aw crap, the sun went NOVA! That's it dudettes, the universe as we understand just ended. Time to lay down and die.

You fried their little plant brains and freaked them out.

When changing to a stronger lamp, hang it double extra high. Place plants at "noon." This limits first exposure to the stronger light to a half day followed by a full nights sleep. Lower lamp a few inches every day

How were we going to use this?

LOL, This 1st grow has been a learning experience from day one. This plant was on MicroGrow everything (Soil, bloom, flower) from day one.

Do you think I should even try smoking it? I don't want to end up in the hospital. lol

Good Points on changing the lights, I didn't event think about that. I forgot what I was using that for. I'm opening to any ideas you have, I think it is still in the garage.

Do you think is even smokeable? If not I'm going to germinate this bubblegummer or grapefruit and get my hempy on.

Honestly, if it was me, i wouldn't smoke it, i would try to make some canna butter or something though..

just me.

I'm going to smoke a little of it, if it is really bad I'm going to toss it and chalk it up to a learning experience. I think this new grow will be much better; a couple cab changes, real nutes, hempy, scrog, good genetics and lots of knowledge gain from everyone on this forum

Dude, ya' gotta take a puff. If it's a bad puff, put down the pipe but, ya' gotta take a puff. Ya' gotta. Because you had no chance to flush, you may want to try a water cure.

As to the screen, I could see using it with LST and a potted plant in the middle. Tons of places to tie to. I was afraid you were going to use it as a "cylindrical" ScrOG. Looks like it's all sharp edges and tiny holes. For ScrOG I'd suggest a more open screen (1" openings at least) of a softer material.

oh no, I have made a a scrog screen 14"x14" with PVC piping and some rope, the squares are 2"x2". That metal screen that I posted was used to create a scrubber with.

This water curing looks interesting, shiz I'm going to try it. It will give me a chance to make my cab changes a little sooner too
