Been workin' like a bee, tryin' to get all these broads trained to approximately-equal-height, cleanin' up messes, .. Whew - Ms. Hawaiian is workin' me to the bone, with all of this domestication nonsense. All good!

Here's the sitcheeashin so far - day 21 for the eldest dames:

It's no blumats, I understand, but I got a how-can-I-say-no deal, so let's see. :D

Need to read up and get it calibrated and dialed in, .. May just wait 'til the next run, maybe not.

I don't know how I've been missing this but I wanna keep tabs on your headband to compare it to mine as they grow along. If you are 3 or so weeks ahead of me I might have a heads up. For the most part mine is looking like yours does. Props though, good luck with the grow.

I forgot to ask a question about how you defoliate. I was wondering if you were looking for any signs in particular on when to start or do you just do it after 2 weeks of 12/12? Do you wait that amount because they are mostly done stretching after that point? I was wondering how in depth you got as well and what they look like after the "haircut". I have given my girls a light haircut but I was going to hit them again after their comb over bushed back out after the stretch began. Sorry to hijack your thread but you were just mentioning some things that have been on my mind recently.

Thanks for stoppin' in! (On a side note, what is your avatar? My brain tells me it's familiar, but that's about it)

This will be my second run with this Headband. Check the "First organic grow" link in my sig - you can see the whole run/harvest there.

I like to wait about 2 weeks in to flower, and that's when I snip off the scraggly undergrowth stuff that just turns into lerf. I don't really think of it as "defoliating," but more of a "prune." I'm sure someone who's more educated than I could explain the difference, and also the fact that I'm probably not using either correctly. :good:

Basically, I try to eliminate what I think will be the low-producers, the lerfsters, and at the same time, sort of train & prune it to grow big donksicles, minimal popcorn. Last time with the Headband, I got away with literally 5 or 6 full spears after a similar haircut at the two-week mark. I like to wait until I see the buds have set, and then I break out the flowbee.

:artist:

Do you have a thread goin' on your deal? :thank you:

~sprout - Well, it's now OUT of the box, but still sitting on a bucket, parts still in their bag. :) It needs to sit 2.5' above the tallest pot, so I need to figure out a shelf/table situation. I'm also on a mission to build a table of sorts & remount the axial fan, from the ceiling to the tabletop. Maybe it'll make my living room floor stop shaking. :shucks: I have a feeling both of those jobs will fall into the same project..

Oasis

Oasis

So I was reading the manual last night, .. It's essentially a traditional drip system, in the sense that the rez is on a timed drip, and each dripper releases a fixed amount of drip per time/per day.

On the "10 Day" setting (which I'm presuming means will drain the rez every 10 days), each emitter releases 4.05 oz per day. That setting is the most generous in its output.

I need to pay attention to how much I'm watering, so I can sort of quantify it and translate it to Oasis-speak.

I have 20 drippers, so I don't anticipate that to be an issue. I'm thinking one dripper @ 4.05 oz/day per 1 gal of pot-size, .. I think? :dunno:

Once I get it dialed in, I'm figuring I'll just shut the unit off before/during/shortly after feeds..

Any time! Now, what the hell is your avatar?! Why is it activating some part of my brain that says, "I know that?"

Oh! The STS9 thing - THAT'S why it's familiar. At least I'm not TOO crazy. :tiphat:

Hey big twinn, thanks for stoppin' in! Not sure exactly which HB cut this is - came from Northern California, .. That's about all the history I got on it. :tiphat:

This is my second run with the PMN and the Headband - both turned out very well last time, .. The PMN didn't yield what I'd have expected, but I was trying out some new nutes on it, and I think I underfed for the first 5-6 weeks of flower.. This time around, she's getting 100%. And seems to be lovin' it so far!

It's ALWAYS, always, ALWAYS a treat to hear from you! I can only hope that my ladies look as thick as yours in a few weeks here. :good:

Thanks for the kind words - it's always, always encouraging. Now that we're getting into weeks 4+, I'm leery of the dreaded PM or the borg creeping in. Always vigilant. And worried. :shucks:

Funny you mention that about the SCROG - I was thinking of doing that initially, .. Glad I didn't, actually. I'm still at a stage where I like to be able to remove the plants from the tent if need be (watering, inspecting, spraying, etc). The SCROG is a little more "final" in that sense. Glad I didn't, actually.

I bought that Claber Oasis self-watering gimmick. Not happy with it, so far. I can't seem to get it to flow consistently. On the most generous setting, each dripper (20) will let off 4 oz/water - that's half a cup. Doesn't seem too fantastic. But I was considering a SOG getup next time, so it might be OK. ..Once I get the damned thing running, anyway. I read some Amazon reviews where a guy was bitching that his valve would get stuck shut - I'm starting to think I've got the same problem. :wallbash:

However, I'm also back to considering a hydro gimmick next time 'round. Now that I've got that up and hoonin', it ain't so bad!

Who knows. That's the trouble with being me - MAKE UP MY MIND, PLEASE!
