Ganja D's Outdoor 2011

OGxChemdog 4 is easily the best of all those cuts I got from you. Its the only pheno of that cross I took. But its a lot better than any of the chem/sour crosses.

You need the OG C Chemdog #2. The 4 is great and fat but the 2 is frostier, earlier, tastier, and denser.
The Chem Sour is great but it needs more time to finish. It's worth the wait if the weather will allow.
Hope your holding up well with the rain,it's a blessing from the Devil himself. I was harvesting in the dark last night into the worst part of the storm. I felt like an Alaskan Fisherman yelling as the waves crash over the boat. I would compare the harvest I did over the last few days to what I'm guessing it would be like to go through boot camp in the marines. I'm as low on sleep as I've been in a very long time.
I'll make it through the storm but it truly sucks serious balls. I worked really hard this year and so much went into the planning. I won't go down without a fight.
I've finally been able to sample some freshly dried herb of a few strains. It's nice to puff this SSSDH cut again, and the OG dom pheno of the DB X WW is some of the strongest I've smoked in a while.

^haha nice description....we were also running around in the rain frantically i got my last tops in right as the rain started coming down in sheets...

how were those SSSDH crosses...purple star and DB x SSSDH anything worth keeping around? sounds like the DB x WW is the best surprise this year...

any other strains that are early finishers besides the mr nice....id really like to get everything chopped and out to market before october next year....i ran the standard "blackberry kush" cut outdoors this year, and while shes kind of bland indoors, she was extra special outside some of the frostiest outdoors ive seen and finished 3rd week of september....i didnt keep the cut but i can source it from other friends..

GanjaD, fantastic work. My hat is off to you, sir. You inspire me, albeit I have to take the guerrilla path because of Present Circumstances.

I do have 3 smaller SSSDH (from Rez' S1 seeds) I can't go see too often, and I was wondering how long you let yours go? How many weeks does SSSDH needs to typically go? I got 4-5 days of light-med scattered rain coming next week, temps: hi mid-70s and low 50s, then the front moves out and it gets dry/sunny again.

Last time I checked late Sept they were getting fat and flopping over with the weight and needed staking, with white pistils still on the tops. (34N lat., you're more like 37-38 just guessing). Its been killer low-Rh sunny weather since, and a sample of the young bud hits like a brick. I guess is I need to let em go awhile yet; wondering about when you picked yours.

- thanks for the answers! I also would encourage you in your seed efforts. Here in Ontario we have to be less in the open than your situation affords. This also means that there is less open contact between like minded individuals, and less opportunities to share clones. Consequently a greater reliance on seeds. But starting with seeds that come from consistent outdoor efforts, and that come with a much better description than any of the seed sites offer- is very helpful.

Nomad- I have luked more than my share on this site, absorbing much of the generous info that is offered up. But I have always enjoyed your mature and thoughtful input- so may I ask you the same question- what 5 things have you learned/realized from this season's effort?

I knew the #2 was the best one as soon as I saw those little scraps you showed me :) OG with a twist...

It's like arm sized cylinders full of white frosty goodness. It's a real strong smoke that hits you between the eyes after one hit. Hope it came out nice for you.

I killed the one I had in a 100 on purpose but do have it around still. The #2 is the clear winner.

I have it all under cover, so I will get to see them all go the distance. I'd love to try the #2. Looking for a replacement for Chem D in the deps.

As far as what I have learned this year, I think it will take me a while after its all over to put everything into perspective. This was not a slam dunk year by any means. While it may quantitatively be a success in the end, it will not have lived up to its potential.

As D said, I'm going to work with the youngest plants possible next year. Cannabis wants to live for 3-4 months, max. We are extending their lives way beyond their tolerances and when problems come, they come strong.

In the future, if I run into serious problems with a plant before July 7th or 10th, I will yank it and replace it with a strong backup. Better to have a smaller healthy plant that goes the distance and produces AAA flowers than a big one with anemic B grade buds...

This is what I have also observed over the yrs. The clones start to spin out after the plant has lived for an extended period... the plant gets weaker and more prone to diseases after a year even if it is a seed mom and the clones are first generation. Their natural life is about 8 to 10 months for the longer finishing strains. Clones have their advantages but seeds are much more vigorous and a higher quality grow. When you buy clones you are buying someone's issues for sure.

when you say you will not start so early as in february does this mean all the supplimental lighting and all that jazz? i always found you can grow monster plants by just starting a few weeks before the frost date.. mid/early april under t-5's or even better a greenhouse and put em out mid may would work fine.. i mean is the whole supplimental lighting thing just to try and get your plants bigger before true veg or is it to flower them earlier for an earlier finish?

Indeed. The plant deserves love. Its obvious in every bag the kind of love that goes in... or doesn't.

BTW, the SSSDH from you is also some straight fire. I will be asking for that cut in the off season. Hope you still have the mom from this one. the OGCD #2 as well. Are you going to name the stars?

I finally have some Bomb Threat coming down. It sure is different from the Bubba I have grown. I can see what the fuss is about. Its not yer uncle's Bubba for sure. Its one of those "who cares about yield" strains. Most of it needs at least another week or two. no rushing it. Unless the county starts enforcement of its new ordinance when it rams through on Tuesday. That will be some messed-up shit.

On the upside, I too have been smoking better than ever in my life since black boxes came down and expect to be doing so on freshies in another couple of weeks. The deps and the small plants (testers, experiments, homemade crosses, etc) that I still have inside greenhouses have been, in terms of quality, our absolute best work to date.

Good to hear Nomaad, glad your smoking good too. I do have the SSSDH cut,it's a very special plant. As far as my best plants, the SSSDH,OG x CD #2,all DB X WW's,and a few SD IBL's are amongs the very best. Of 9 SD IBL seed plants 6 were very SD dominant and one is the perfect SD I've been searching for for years. It blows the ecsd clone out the water. I didn't clone it but made hundreds of f2's.

YesProp: The DB X SSSDH,and Purple Star X SSSDH are nice not not the best. The WW crosses are the shit.

Very glad to hear you have the SSSDH. Its everything you want to see from a cross of those parents. I can see some of these going large next season.

I have a WW cross for you, bro... pollen from your male from last year. Haven't decided on a name yet, but I will by the time I bring you one. We got very limited seed from the project and chose for vigor when conditions dictated making a choice. Vigor, yield, mold resistance so far are exactly what we are looking for... we'll know about smell and taste in a couple of weeks.

Good to hear everything is going well for you GanjaD. The rains got to some of my bigger nugs and I have lost a fair amount to mold. You having any of the same problems?

Nothing unexpected or unreasonable. The only plant I had a real mold problem with was C99 X HK. Only had one of those. Headband and blue dream laugh at rain and mold, they're nearly amphibious.

Smoking SD IBL tonight and OG X chemdog X 11 phenos forever.
