A real tipping point in America...is about to be reached?

I feel like the real deal is coming up on the horizon. I have had this rising feeling in my gut about something like this a lot lately, that I've not really had before. Could we in America be heading for the 1960's on steroids, in order to take back America from the lunatics who have hijacked us, or will Americans continue to behave in their distraction spheres as it is

People will behave. Chances are if there is a tipping of any kind, it will be planned from the beginning by those currently in charge anyway, people will follow they don't care who.

Hermit life for me.

Eh you're probably right. I doubt the mainstream will ever rise up...maybe the feeling in my gut has been gas.

On the other hand, I keep thinking the tipping point might be a catastrophic economic collapse...which may be a good thing in a twisted way

Unless Europe's sovereign debt issues and the general weakness of many of their banks are just left unchecked to destroy the EU as a whole we won't see any catastrophic economic collapse. That being said, if that does happen, hold onto your hats, we could see 20+% unemployment and the loss of a generation here in America. Then some heads could roll figuratively. The tipping point has to come from people demanding that their rights are the ones being looked out for rather than those of the special interest groups. If we can ever shift the paradigm of that discussion to actually protecting the interests of individuals against those of corporations AND the unending desire of the government for power and control then maybe we can return to a place where we are growing the tree of liberty rather than lopping off her branches and chopping at her base. Just my 2 pennies though.

i'm not sure, my tipping point has been passed, and it wasn't gas.

Yes. I believe we are standing on the precipice.

The Euro and Europe is collapsing after which it does the US will have their sovereign debt crisis. And then the fireworks will start.

It's just the taco bell....

If anything... people will be reaching for another soda or the remote. Occupy Wallstreet is Halloween come early. I don't think it's a matter of people "obeying" or "behaving" -- they're too fucking stupid to know which way is up.

And an economic collapse would be good in a twisted way? I don't think so. It wouldn't change anything about the current attitudes of the majority. Look at the recession we entered. What message did it send? (other than bankers are greedy....) That we were living above our means? Living in houses we couldn't afford? Living off of credit? And who listened? Nobody. Nobody wanted to hear that they couldn't have their boat and their atv and their F250 they drive to their accounting job. Nobody wanted to hear that shit.

People might flock to the streets. But they'd be protesting the disappearance of their toys, their smaller houses, the fact that their employer benefits won't cover their sex change operation. Not the system (although a small minority would).

They wanted the same American way of life people had been enjoying for decades. And for someone to come along and tell them they have to change, downsize, reduce? Fuck no.

The tipping point will be the Euro ..... the Greeks aren't going to pay back any money, the consensus in the UK is fuck it, let 'em go

This is when the full extent of Chinese investment world wide will hit home, the Arabs have been selling oil directly to the Chinese for years and both groups announced in 2008 that they saw the Yuan as the future currency for oil

At that point in time the USA was distracted by the approaching Obama election (only British interest was would you rather fuck Sarah Palin or her daughter?), only Newsweek made any reference to this by having on their front cover "The Day The Dollar Died", Peter Toshes words before he was killed 20 yrs earlier

So the 'World' currency stops being the dollar, China can then present the US with all the foreign debt it's bought (and there's lots), knowing that the US has to pay

Hungry times ahead folks

Them boys on Wall Street. Things have been pretty good down there for a real long time. Sure there have been ups and downs, but the long term trend had been up for so long that they lost touch with reality of what really creates wealth…the sweat of the rest of us. They had geeky mad scientists down in the lab creating some new Frankenstein monsters that would make them all filthy richer. And for a while it looked like it was working as if the dawn of a new era of prosperity…for them. Didn’t really matter whether it was good for anybody else because ‘enlightened’ self-interest is their only rule and ‘more’ is their religion. Their marketing department in our schools and government invented terms like ‘trickle-down’ and formed the religious order, the brotherhood of ‘efficient markets’. They utilized media to sedate the difference between what they were seeing and what the rest of us were living. Yeah, it was a happy time for years down there. Real good for them and sometimes even, although mostly by accident, good for us.

But like most parties of irresponsible people, they got drunk. Bottles of greed and self-importance flowed like wine in the most decadent days of old Rome.

Now we all know what drunk driving leads to and these boys were no exception. Yep you guessed it; a massive crash damaging not only their car but many others…hell they even hit parked car in the melee. It was pure carnage and many people were injured, a crash of historic proportion. Many lives were ruined that night. Their god, More, doesn’t seem to be the merciful kind.

But you see there was also another little problem. In their drunken stupor they forgot to pay their insurance premium or set aside enough just-in-case money. Now we put aside a nest egg regularly or whenever we can and guard it carefully. That’s how we make it better for our family. But these old boys were too smart for that. Leverage was king and anyone who didn’t understand that was a sucker. Guess the insurance check is probably still sitting there on their desk. The bottom line is that these boys don’t have any insurance. Oh hell, how are they gonna get to that political fundraiser next week for smiles and favours. Not to worry though…they ask their uncle to pay for their car to be fixed. Now this is family you see, they spend holidays and family events together, golf together, all sunshine, good food and good times. So you know the uncle is gonna agree and he does. The good ole boys get their car back and return to their drunken ways now with slightly fewer bottles.

My complaint is this: neither of them are willing to consider paying for the other 99% of the damages.

Now by my reckoning there is only one fair outcome: You broke it…you pay to fix it.

I think that we are above 20% unemployment. How many people do you suppose run out of benefits every week in the USA? The government does not figure their number into the percentage.

What about all the people that only get 30 to 35 hours a week, because their employer does not want to offer them a reduced rate on an health insurance plan?; not many of them could even afford if they wanted it.

A friend that works at a major retailer told me that they had 10 positions to fill at just one location and they had 500 applicants! Are you kidding me?

The way that the government handled the 2008 debacle on Wall street should have been a wake up call for the country but it wasn't. Oh well.

If complete bank insolvency strikes Obama would seize totalitarian power in the U.S. - you can see the tyrannical urge in his expressions every time he says we are in a recovery, and thereby spark some sort of civil revolt.

That's worst case...

Best case scenario is that we have 1-2 lost generations. We are already approaching the inevitable of the 1st generation....

We can't escape our debt and yet we add more. Our "savings" rates are being clobbered by inflation (The Bernank & Timmy) and we have an effective unemployment rate of 20%.

statists and leninists like Obama will never admit that Keynes is dead and his theories are fraud- it's the linchpin to their whole political theory.

Because to many people like myself are to busy smoking, playing Xbox, and watching cable. Then I like to get online, ride my bike, and go to the gym.
Where am I supposed to fit a revolution in there?

If cable goes out, stand by, the revolution will start the next day......Now, what time does dancing with the stars come on?

I'm not sure if this 'really' fits in this thread, but has anyone ever seen the documentary 'Capitalism: A Love Story'?
I think it is a very good film for stirring up mental 'faecal' juices.
