The point I was making is ITS IN THE THREAD ALREADY, EVERYTHING YOU JUST SAID

Do I have to summarize the entire thread when I comment? All I know is you said it best Hammerhead:
Just add them to your ignore list. I think we all know what there agenda is.

I think we are in agreement. I have been making BHO for almost 7 years now. I can not taste or smell anything from the cans of Butane I use nor can any of the people that use my product. Anyway I need to purchase a few cases does anyone have good deals on cases?? I wish it was as easy as swapping out the Co2 canisters that I use to get from Airgas.

i have provided proof but you choose to ignore it like an asshole.

Mercaptans do not need to be reported in msds if it is an impurity of the butane. Get it?

I also provided the link to show you the butane is orderless unless smelling agents added.

soo....who is immature?

I get it but you clearly still do not.

If the mercap elephant was in the room, someone besides you would be able to detect it. It is not a subtle thing and extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof. The onus is on you, not me.

You ignore the other links that says butane has a light petroleum odor or gasoline like smell. If you don't like what Airgas MSDS says, check out Air Liquide or any number of other ones that say the same thing.

An even more brilliant thought might be for you to actually go sniff butane for yourself, so that you can laugh with the rest of us who have.

Bottom line is, that the petroleum smell thing is just a perfect example of you being unable to admit you are wrong, in the face of the evidence. How can you expect us to ignore that and accept anything else that you say.

You waste my time brother, so I'm not going to try and help you anymore. I will however continue to warn the noob's, when you mislead them.

Oh really? what did I mislead someone about that you'll need to correct???

There are more than one type of mercaptans and there are some that are butane impurities that can be detected at what you are ranting cannot.

Learn more son.

There are many ways you could have proven things to me but you coped out and gave me some BS links that have nothing to do with chemical properties and only pertain to a impure product to try and prove a chemical property. That is real smart there buddy.

You have limited knowledge and this proves you cannot back up your claims. I challenge you to find info that is not from a airgas type company.

Is there anyone on this forum who thinks that pure Airgas butane smells like petroleum, but butane from lighter cans do not?

Is there anyone on this forum with at least a years experience that can taste rotten eggs in the butane that you use?

LOL @ my haters. Sheesh, if you delete the multiple posts that are solely about me this thread would have been on topic all along.

Mad: go take your crazy pills and get off my dick... as usual. Did you only post here to talk shit? Way to contribute to the thread... fail.

Tickleme: same as for mad. Way to contribute something positive to the thread. fail. Haters gonna hate!!!

As Gaiu said: more info on the table is a good thing. Keeping the bho explosions that happen almost every week secret does not help anyone. This is one of the reasons why I go around telling the truth about the potentially deadly risk of making bho. The other reason is that bhotards may mess up 215 and the legal status of making ice water hash. (as I showed earlier in this thread, making ice water hash is legal under 215 while bho is a felony)

Here is a few more bhotard incidents, including some deaths. There are way too many to post but you all get the idea. bho goes boom frequently.

Can we get back to ranking the canned gas mixtures in order of quality for bho?

if you are just going to continue annoying people it no longer counts as adding info to the thread.

that goes for everyone, please stop going round in circles bickering about stuff. at this point everyone has presented their case, let that be an end of it. let the future readers make up their own minds without harping on it for pages and pages and fucking up this thread.

peace out

just being a previously banned member is not reason enough for banning most of the time. ie site policy is to give them a new chance in most cases. i would also say in all fairness only posting with 2 active handles in the same thread is against the tou, although that one leaves room for interpretation.

edited to add:

having said the above i do think it's time for this thread to get back on track, pics of bho and tips related to making it safely and cleanly... more pics then talk pls lol. just kidding. i do think it's cool how folks are staying civil even in their disagreement. in the end it all brings more info to the table, the main things is to do it in a civil manner. it's when insults are added that offense is caused.

i only went back 5 pages, if anyone feels there is a post that needs particular attention to keep this thread going in the spirit it has been, just report it.

peace

while I see your point, when I read the TOU it is pretty clear - posting in the same thread with more than one alias gets all your aliases banned. The TOU does not distinguish between reasons for doing so, it simply prohibits the practice.

I dont interpret the tou to mean anything but more then one ACTIVE nic per thread. Gaus is giving good advice... members should follow it .

Well then thank you sir! I have been very careful to avoid posting in threads in which my former alias participated. It's been my experience in the past that if someone doesn't like you, and they know a mod, they can get you fried on just such a technicality.

So I can post away, as long as the other alias isn't active?

I think some of us are made to sift and jiggle bags, while others are just suited to a process like perfume making. I have been saving my trim until I can try the thermos method followed by winterization in ethanol to make an absolute.

I also join the others who have smelled mercaptans of all kinds and know them to be rather prominent when they are present. If you think of your piss after eating asparagus, we are talking that kind of power. I can smell that shit if I pee just a few minutes after eating asparagus.

Let those with ears hear!

PS: I hope that you haven't missed the part about only someone without personal experience or ability to tell the odor of gasoline from mercaps would make such a statement. What impression do you imagine you are leaving with us folks with years of hands on experience?

if your other nicks are banned, then i'd say posting with new nick is not a problem. it's when someone makes a new nick and goes right back to a thread they were banned from and continues arguing and trolling, that the 2 nick rule will be applied and the member banned again.

http://books.google.ca/books?id=zIM...ved=0CDkQ6AEwBQ#v=onepage&q=c3h8 odor&f=false

i thought there was info about odor here, but i was mistaken, it does however, provide an interesting read.

Good posts bro! It brought back old memories of tours through the oil refinery in my home town, which my father was maintenance superintendent for.

The odor that the article touched on was for the aromatic hydrocarbons, which has a benzene ring, where the simple alkanes like butane do not.

Simplified, the simple alkanes are a carbon atom surrounded by hydrogen atoms. The formula for a simple alkane tells us that the four bonds that a carbon atom is capable of, will be taken up by another carbon in a chain, or a hydrogen atom. The formula is number of carbon atoms times two, plus two at the ends of the chain.

Mary eats peanut butter is the acronym for Methane, Ethane, Propane, and Butane, which are the first four alkanes.

Methane has one carbon and four hydrogen's and a colorless, odorless gas. Ethane has two carbons and six hydrogen's, and Propane has three carbon atoms and eight hydrogen's. Both of those gases are considered odorless and are all still slightly soluble in water.

By the time we get to Butane at four carbons and ten hydrogen's, we still have slight water solubility, and a light sweet petroleum odor.

After Mary gets through with the peanut butter, we move to the Greek alphabet for the rest of the simple alkanes. Namely Pentane (5), Hexane (6), Heptane (7), Octane (8), Nonane (9), and Decane (10).

The alkanes Pentane and above are non soluble in water and the combination of Pentane and Hexane is the familiar smell of light naphtha or gasoline.

As the chains get longer, they have a higher viscosity and at the top of the alkane chain are the oleaginous waxes, aka paraffin.

How much product and how much tane went in the pie?

Sorry that I don't remember those numbers bro, as it is an old picture. What I did was continue to run butane from trim, to see what the difference was between a short run and continuing to use the same dish.

As a guess, I would say that I was running a 1" X 36" column at that time, with about 72 grams per load, which took three 300ml cans per load and there were probably six loads or so.

What was used to produce that BHO? Was it

or

?

I guess that makes sense. He is still trolling, but because it is in the resin section instead of the Oganic Soil sub-forum, the mods tolerate it.

The troll has not evolved, just moved into a different ecosystem.

.....Trichgnomes, thanks for the name calling. It shows your maturity level.

I apologize if the second half of my post was out of context, but it was not referring to you, but responding to a post from gaiusmarius, which also had nothing to do with you (or I for that matter), but another member who was trolling (I was quoting someone else by using the phrase, btw).

Anyway, sorry I merged the two separate thoughts into one post, just didn't think it was worth two posts.

Anyways, you never answered my question. Was your oil made with a "canned gas mixture" or tank of N-butane?
