micro cab questions

Hallo, i got a stealth speakercab under construction. But i am not sure on how much lighting i am able
to have without heat issus. I know there is alot of micro growers out there, and maybe someone could have a possible clue on that question. Im thinking of a 125w cfl but i am not sure.
My space is 56cm (length) 30cm (deep) and 60cm (height) im going use two 40 cfm pc fans for outtake,
they are connected parallelly to one pipe that leads out. Same kind of fan will be my intake this one will be connected to a 80mm pipe

I am not sure on what voltage im going to run the fans at.
It depends on the noise they make.

The reason why the fans is blowing through pipes is that i have a 10cm layer of insolation inside the speaker and the holes is just looking like bass holes. There is also a frame of speakercloth on the outside so you can't even see the holes. All the speakers is functioning. And my small jonisator will probebly kill the smell.

I am growing in a speaker as well. Feel free to take a look at my grow and ask any ?'s. I left the tube also but cut it down to make a carbon filter out of it.

Standard lighting calls for 50 watts a square foot. Your cab calls for 57 watts. A 125 to 150 is past the point of diminishing returns, will cause excess heat and require bigger and louder fans.

Most CFL growers prefer many small lamps to one big one. Better coverage, more bang to the buck, ability to alter spectrum etc. 3 cfls in the 23-26 watt range will provide 60-70 wsf

Intake fans are the fastest, easiest way to achieve positive pressure. We want negative pressure. The easiest, fastest way to achieve negative pressure is to avoid intake fans.

thx guys, i had a thought about the 125w was going to be pretty warm for my weak outtake. i get my fans soon and then i will try out how much watts i can get in there.

Diesel N blood: what cfm are your outtake to handle both carbon filter and 2x 70w mh? =)

Freezer boy: about the negative pressure, i will have more outtake then intake and there will be no carbonfilter that can restrict the airflow :) i will be using a jonisator instead, and hopefully it will kill the smell. its a pretty small space so i think it will be handled

My fan is a reclaimed 80mm cpu fan, It might be 24cfm's. I usually run it at 9volts. So I am not running it full out 24/7. Its all about how your ventilation is setup. I have a vent in the lower front and the exhaust top rear. The sockets and bulbs sit level with the exhaust. That way it is pulling the heat straigh off of them. Most of the rest of the heat is light saturation. I think with a space that you have a 70w HPS is easily doable, a 150w HPS could be done with a little planning and testing. I'd like to see pics of your speaker to better answer your ?'s.

About you're thoughts on intake and exhuast fans. NO INTAKE FANS for stealth. The smell will find its way out without being scrubbed by whatever method you choose. Plus All fans are more effiecent while pulling air instead of pushing it. Plants in full bloom smell. PERIOD. Remember if you need to keep it stealth Its best to plan from the start to have a scrubber than a passive type ona type deoderizer

okey, but i cannot have a passive intake becouse the intake hole is only 80 mm wide :( in not going to use a scrubber. I have a small jonisator. It pruduces negative jones, the same thing that happes when it rains outside, it allso prouduces a small amount of ozon :) im in a bit of a hurry, but i can post pics of the cabin later to day or tomorrow :)

You've got ~1.87 sq ft and roughly 3.6 cubic feet. That's a pretty big speaker.:) Cool that it works, too.

The average pc chassis fan won't pull through very much carbon. If you plan to stack two fans, it won't move any more air through the cab than one. But two will withstand more pressure from the scrubber, provided the carbon wall isn't too thick.

I made a pretty decent scrubber out of steel mesh pencil cans. Walmart sells 3" and 4" sizes, makes ~1'4" carbon wall between the two cups. Real stinky strains might overpower the scrubber but your ozoner should take up some slack.

Not sure how your 1x passive intake will work out. If I were you I'd consider less light than more or you're gonna have heat troubles.

I have a cool tube in a short cab. It takes lots of headroom. IMO, the same bulb would run as cool or cooler with a pc fan blowing on it. No tube necessary. They work for bigger fans because lots of air is forced through the tube. Moderate exhaust flow won't help it's heat reducing capability IMO.

ye its pretty big for a speaker :) i made the box myself then i attached the speakers from 2 smaller ones.

The 2 exhaust fans are going to blow parallely in two diffrent places and then they are connected in to one pipe that leads out. I find it hard to express what i mean in english :) maybe u understand or maybe not but i will be posting a pic of the inside tomorrow or later today :)

Dont u think i can just use the jonisator? my plan is to stick to as odur less strains as possible :) I have no wallmart in my country.. but maybe i could buy some carboncarpet ( those that u have in cattoilets) and put a few layer of that infront of the exhaust?:)

i will have 3-4 extra fans for aircirculation inside blowing at the canopy and the lamp. that would probebly help holding down the temps to. I think i will use cfl istead of 70w hps. I cant have a ballast outside the box and it will probebly generate pretty much heat if its inside.

about the reflection inside the box i am not sure what to use.
mylar would be the best i think but i dont wanna order only mylar
when i have to pay all shipping and shit. it would be pretty expensive for some mylar ^^ And foil would probebly give the heat a boost? :)

Plain flat white paint is your best bet if not using Mylar. $7usd for a quart of paint (way more than you'll need). Can you remove one of the speakers? You said it has a cloth grill covering the front. Mine does also. I removed both speakers from mine. It'll help once you post your pics.

okey i might have some paint laying around somewere :) or maybe i consider ordering mylar anyway:) i will not remove any speakers, the hole shit is planed to be mega stealth :D

If you have room for dual exhaust, you have room for dual intake. Punch two intakes at the bottom, close off one of the exhausts. That or just flip the cab upside down.

Here is the pic. Now u can see what i ment with the exhaust :)

You have Tons-O-Space™! Put a fan on the bottom, punch another hole at the top, close the whole in the middle and flip the cab upside down.

P.S. Image shack will rat you out and turn you in in a heartbeat. Safety suggests you wipe those pics and store them here at IC.

Wow you got all that from One dark pic. Freezer.... I'm stunned. Maybe I'm missing a pic. But what he said lol.

Ill see what it become :) i have to do some thinking. Im not thinking of pushing it to the limit right now. for the moment I just want it really stealth ! And some nice ganja

ooh thats not to good.. i will remove it later. And i will be storing them at Ic in future. Thx for the warning! :)

I cheat, I used Photoshop to adjust levels. Heck, here it is again, now flipped upside down with new holes. Added bonus, electricity comes through the top instead of the bottom where the water lives.

Cool trick. I'll have to remember that. Compared to my little speaker that things huge. Hell, you could smash a 150 in there and do a nasty v-scrog.
