Vinigar or Lemon Juice to Lower PH, Does this work?

I have tried both of these and having trouble getting any results I tried to balance the PH of just 1 gallon of water, my PH starts at about 8-9.I added over 2 tbsp of each per gallon and my PH did not change at all. WHY? What is the correct ratio or should I just use PH Down?

You would need huge amounts to see any change and such an amount would only do harm, it is far too unstable to be of use ime, PH down is like $1.00 a pint, actually it may work out cheaper as it is effective and you use mls not cups, get some PH down.

You can use both vinegar and lemon juice to adjust pH. I prefer malt vinegar and fresh squeezed lemon juice.

First, slice some potatoes into strips, then deep fry them in canola or vegetable oil at medium-high heat. Remove from oil and strain. Drizzle the potatoes liberally with the malt vinegar and sprinkle on some sea salt.

Next, take about 2 tbs of lemon juice and 1/2 cup of sugar, add to about 14oz of ice water. Mix well, garnish with lemon rind.

Lastly, eat your fries and drink your lemonade. Now that your hunger and thirst is slated, go ahead and purchase some PH down from your local grow shop or an online retailer. Use as directed, only adding a few drops per gallon at first. The amount required depends on the concentration of your nute solution.

Avoid kitchen remedies for pH control. They'll last just long enough to get to the store and back with real pH Down.

Don't be deceived by sticker price. Used weekly by the drop rather than teaspoons daily, pH Down, at $25/gal, is infinitely cheaper than vinegar at $3/gal because of it's greater effectiveness, stability and endurance.

earth juice bloom (0-3-1)... 1 tbsp (gallon jug cap full)/5 gal... ph ~6.2 to ~ ph 5.5-5.0....

Vinegar works. The problem is the quantities required.

See mistress' post above that suggests 1-1.5 TBS? A single drop of pH down will do the same thing. 0.1ml pH Down vs 15-23.5ml vinegar. But wait, don't touch that dial. Not only is vinegar used at 200X the rate, it lasts a day or two vs a week or two for pH down. Now we're talking of using 1400-2800X more vinegar so the question becomes: are we growing plants or making pickles?

Get a chemistry textbook and learn how buffers work. Hydro ph adjustments are mainly achieved by buffers, not strong acids or bases.
