New Room

Hey folks just picked up a new place. It's a bit in the hills. I will be converting the garage into a grow room. The garage is gorgeous and has been used previously as a grow room. Unfortunately it's probably been 10 years. There are spider webs everywhere. Ants on the outside and holes from snakes or rodents in the dirt surrounding the garage.

My question is. What is the best way to debug the area and the best way to keep them from coming back?

I usually take a heavy bleach solution 30/70 and spray down all the walls, floors, and rafters, nooks and cranies. Let it dry for a day. Next spray down with a strong H2o2 solution. Wait a few hours then spray everything with AVID.

Is that sufficient for the mountains? How do you prepare a new room? Are those snake/rodent holes going to be an issue with the grow room? Obviously I will take care of them but first priority is the GR...

I searched all morning and couldn't find very much info. Any links will be appreciated Thanks in advance.:jump:

I would start with bug bombs lots of em.. do a total kill..then bleach OR H2O2..spray foam ins for any holes you can't just fix...sounds like fun..good luck...pal

Bug bomb first then hot shot hang-up types to keep em at bay. As Pally420 stated bleach is your friend, 5%-10% mixture for cleaning.

Good luck, Peace

don't know if its price worth but if ya bring the ppm of the air to 10,000 co2 and it will kill all bugs just make sure to vent it out before you work in there cause it can be harmful for you. so empty a bottle of co2 in there and it will kill em all

Thanks for the input guys. I went and bought 3 different types of bombs for a total 11 bombs. Set 3 off in there today. When I go back up tomorrow ill set off 3 of the other. Then following that I am going to bleach everything alittle stronger 5 to 10% I usually use 30%. After that I'll set off the final round of bombs and then hit it with Avid to ensure mite death. I noticed quite a few lizards out there today. Should I worry about them? Am I forgetting anything?

H4Me: That is good to know. It's not economical for that room. But a sealed cabinet. Does that amount kill hatchlings and eggs?

I'd do my best to seal out the outside world any way you can. Fill crack and holes, and bug bomb on the regs untill 2nd week of your bloom...Good luck! any pics of the spot?

the co2 works and isnt to expensive if ya already have a tank they only cost about 25 to fill. i dont think that it would kill the eggs though. it will kill every thing in there that breath oxygen though. i think your supposed to maintain 10000 or higher ppm for an hr to make sure all is dead can be done with plants in the room if needed. so make sure you air it out good after so it does hurt you best of luck. they also make parethiem bombs that work well. best of luck bro

Yeah I can take some when I go back up tomorrow. I was a little paranoid about someone recognizing the place from the photos. But thats just my ego. No one cares. I drove through the neighborhood today. Just about everyone grows.

I Am going to take some foam sealant to the major areas. The side door leading into the room has nice little gap underneath it. Probably going to replace it. I'll get those pics up tomorrow.

I bought 1 each of the bombs they had. Each has a different main ingredient; Cypermethrin, Pyrethrins, and Tetramethrin.
No plants in the room at the moment. I haven't even moved into the house yet.

Plenty of spots need to be filled in. Set off 6 bombs today... Took some pictures but for some reason all but one didn't come out. I'll be up in the morning to take some more.

Thats from the garage looking in. More tomorrow.

That is what I suggest too Harvest! I have a new space that we were originally going to just throw up OSB and R13 around and run in tents, but have since drywalled it out. Tons of work, lots of projecting, but its quite nice.

My friend has a spot like this, and always sprays around the sides of the building as well. I'm sure it's overkill, but you can never be too thorough. Definitely fill in all the holes you can and seal as much as possible.

I'm not sure, but I've heard it mentioned that steam cleaning can work as well.

I am in the process of making my plans I intend to have several different rooms. A honeymoon sweet for some breeding plans I have. Veg Clone room, and a nice sized flower room. But I'd like to hear what you guys would do with it.

Here some pictures. Seems the problems I had with my camera were user error.

30'x20'x(8' floor to rafters 13' total)

Drain in floor and windows on 3 of the 4 walls.
