Cali is a good state. It might be expensive, but it's worth it. My buddy was pulled over for speeding, chp looked through his "kit" that was out on the seat. Had a couple 1/4's, papers, grinder and lighter. He showed him his med card. Cop let him off with a warning on the speeding and gave him his herb back. And yes, the weather is amazing here.

CHP is hit or miss man i wouldnt generalize that you would get that treatment every time...ive had CHP get me after hotboxing and tear apart the car...and ive had them not do anything....

but legally...according to a dickhead CHP office who pulled over my brother...the freeways are federal proprety and they dont follow state law...i had a CHP tell me he didnt give a shit about my medical paperwork and to go back to oaksterdam.......while in the urban areas CHP is generally chiller once you get out into the sticks like solano county they are definately looking for people smuggling those outdoor pounds...

but its better than being in kentucky where having a small joint will send you to prison....but please people its not THAT SAFE in california you still need to exercise basic security precautions....better medical laws yes, but having the attitude that anything flies out here could get you caught up...

You're not going to prison in KY for a joint. jeez.

Well I know in Maryland you can. I got pulled over there once after just smoking a joint. The cop smelled the weed and saw the roach (I stupidly put it in the ashtray). When I went to court for the posession charge I just barely avoided being locked up for it and ended up with a year of supervised probation with urinalysis.

New law in KY just took effect recently. Eight oz or less is supposedly a class B misdemeanor with max time of 45 days. We're struggling financially like everyone, and our prisons are clogged. I can't speak to Maryland as it's about a healthy drive from here.

i was just using kentucky as an example i didnt know they had new laws on the books...i just remember watching COPS and some people in the south had 4 tiny ass marijuana seedling growing in their backyard...like 4 inch tall seedlings, and the cops threw them in jail for possession of 4 Lbs because each plant = a LB or some bullshit like that....

No problem and not a bad example. Obviously it's harsher in this region than elsewhere. I still have a hard time wrapping my mind around what it's like in California, for all practical purposes it's another country to me.

Here where I am, the cops will cut down a plant at the base (or even pull it up by the roots) and weigh it....stalks, leaves, everything...WITHOUT drying it, and that's the weight you get charged with. And the threshold for a minimum sentence trafficking charge is very low. If you grow one decent sized plant, you're a trafficker. What's so fucking annoying is, anyone here caught with an oz or less can get the charges dropped with 6 months of drug testing...but if I don't want to smoke sprayed bunk garbage and give my money to organized crime...if I just want to have my own tiny personal garden, I'm somehow a "trafficker" and will do some potentially serious prison time.

its simply dumbfounding how any of those hillbilly cops actually think they are stopping crime by throwing smokers and growers in jail.....meanwhile people are cooking meth, beating their wives, starting KKK militias but i guess that doesnt matter to them...

its kinda like that out here too though...in california the cops like busting growers and dealers of marijuana more than methlabs because we have more cash on hand and nicer vehicles to repo.....they bust a methlab and its a bunch of junkies who shoot all their profits into the crankpipe..

Yea dude don't take for granted what you have in Cali... I'd give my left nut to be able to grow just 1 plant without the threat of arrest. Or even to go to a dispensary and pay $400 an oz,

Finally, Page 5 and my two cents....

Having lived in Colorado before it was completely med friendly and most grows were still illegal, I lived a reserved life...I did not go out much. I didn't have friends over. I grew mostly and once my seasonal job stopped, growing became my only job...My life was not fulfilling. I lacked a social life due to other choices that I held higher...

Now many years latter after going back to the dirty, I am in California. Sweet sweet California. I have a life, a job, and a legal grow. I have people over. Mostly peeps don't know what growing weed smells like...they just say, "it smells like weed" and I say "ok lets smoke some."
I would prefer to grow for a living...however, many people do and many of these people don't have a fulfilling life...Jobs provide not only an income but a way to meet people. Especially restaurant jobs....not the best place to be but you usually get feed and get to meet lots of cool people. So, if you like you have a hard time meeting people, consider where you might have the best chance...I like to meet a lot of people now that I am in a sea of people. People don't keep tab like they do in smaller places.

So in conclusion, growing might be a top priority, but don't let it be the only priority...if you want to meet more people, ashland and eureka might not be the best places.....people all in your business and shit...without much chance of securing a cool/good job.

The Bay (what), Seattle, and Portland offer access to the outdoors, jobs, a social life, and most importantly, peace of mind.

I have pondered on this for a few years as well(being in my mid 20's).. coming FROM Cali... San Fran(415) to be exact and moving back to the burb's in the midwest (chicago, 2 years now)

I miss it like hell and felt a little more secure there but one thing I did learn tho is even in a med. friendly state you STILL are not homefree to go crazy.. and now with me currently living in an area where its a taboo to even talk about it yet 2/3 of the pop. here smoke and all you can find half the time is some chi-town bobbi brown or what every peddler likes to call "kush" 20 a .8'er..

This has caused me to restart my passion/hobby and setup shop.. and to be honest aside from the 1,000 plant 40 lb's dried 17 a/c bust(greed) that happened a few months back about 6 blocks from here It has only caused me to reevaluate how I do everything and be even more cautious with my measly 6 plants(one harvest keeps me happy for a year) but one trend I'm starting to see in my area is the uprise in Indoor gardening/hydro stores opening up all around me, where there was abt 4 a few years back now theres about 20 or so... maybe theres a trend/something on the horizon - hope for all of us still living it up and doing it bandito style?

In ending I deff. wouldn't just leave for a little more comfort in cannabis cultivation.. It deff. is a big part of my life and is my daily stress relief but I will continue to always find a way if I have to grow/procure it w/o drastic action :)

lol so true, Most of the cops are probably doing some or all of those things. Meanwhile we here could float the entire Buckeye Navy on a sea of bourbon, much of it made in dry counties. Not to mention the prescription pain pill abuse problem which is epidemic here. One good thing I've noticed this year, and maybe it has to do with the new laws here, is helicopter traffic is almost zero, and reports of busts are scarce. Hopefully this holds through the fall.

I agree.

One big fucking plant that could win the Blue Ribbon at the State Fair...

...and somebody's cannabis cup, somewhere...:)

Hey man, I'm guessing you grow outdoors in the Kentucky wilderness...imagine if you could get a ton of auto seeds and put them out May 1, cut them down on July 1...avoid 4 months of flyovers!

I'm ready to go in a few months, still can't make up my mind!!!

1)California, 2) then Colorado,3) then Michigan, 4)?

Some parts of Cali are gorgeous, could have a nice life.

I also hear Denver, Boulder, Ft. Collins are awesome places to live and grow, lots of college girls, lax laws, but cant sell to dispensaries in CO anymore I believe!!!

lost....:)

I think if a lot of you saw the women in California, you would forget all about Michigan... Yeah they are a med state, but FUCK, it's cold as FUCK! If you want to live in a nice snowy mountany area, move to the Sierras in Cali! I live at 6400 feet in the sierras and it is absolutely beautiful.. Warm summers, NO HUMIDITY EVER, tons if ski resorts open in the winter,, the beach is only 3 hours away, you can sell to dispensaries, oh and did I mention the women?? lol... If I didn't already live here, there is no doubt in my mind where I would be. Not too mention, California just has all the cool shit going on. X games, grow expos, kush expos, venice beach, etc etc etc... There is just so much shit to do and see it never gets old! And yeah, Cali is expensive but there is a reason for that.. The land, people, and quality of life (in the right areas) is amazing!!! IF anyone does move to Cali, it is def a lot cheaper in the mountain regions...

If you're not in a legal state then work, work or study your ass off to get to where you want to go. Get a 30-40k job with a good company, work it for 2-3 years, build connects and transfer over to a company of similar trade in a legal state. Keep the job and maintain a grow. People talk about only being growers for jobs - not hard to maintain a medium garden and work a decent job IMHO
