anyone recommend a good cheap source of liquid humic?

humax is no longer available in california...

would like to avoid the hydro companies humics, such as roots organic and those magic elixir type products such as liquid karma etc. not denying they work, just simply need liquid humic acid, not a fancy package and trade secrets.

does anyone one on here cover and uncover their deps AT NIGHT ? so letting em ride with moonlight?? It would be so much better for my humidity levels if this was an acceptable way to light deprive. please chime in buddies.

you could always lift the bottom of the tents away from the ground until someone with light dep experience chimes in this will allow for more breeze to carry away transpired moisture.

A small update....this is the growing large plants outdoors thread?

At the casa de upcountry, my Jack Herer triple has blown through 6 ft. The elephant ear through 7 ft.

And my Thai crosses....the're massive. I've had to pull some of them over to keep below the cover. They have all been framed out and are off to the races.

With their increased water needs I have removed the drippers and instaled a higher flow heads. I water every three days now instead of two. I have put no ferts on them yet except time release, and a one time shot of deer blood a month ago.

If we get some cloudy weather I should spray, But the bugs haven't been bad. As things dry out that will change.

If you have very dark nights (no streetlights, porch lights house lights, etc, uncovering before you go to bed will work. You will have to cover in the evening early enough so that the sunrise is properly timed to your cycle. The problem with pulling tarp earlier than 8pm for me is that the sun at 6-8pm is too straong and temps inside a covered black box would get ridiculous.

I am going to try a dehumidifier and/or exhaust fan to lower humidity levels this year.

By the end of July, natural light cycles are such that I feel comfortable ditching the cover altogether. Worked out just fine last season.

You could also invest in FF's breathable light dep fabric. Its 1.10 per sq foot and last I checked there was a long lead time on delivery... but I still think its a great product. I will likely start using it next year.

Crazy about the Humax. I just got a 2.5 gallon bottle at harmony. It was their last. This is the unavoidable reality of dealing with ag products in Cali. The labeling requirements and heavy regulation cause a neverending flux of product availability.

Until this year i have used Growmore liquid Humic Acid... its 12% just like Humax and costs 9.99 in 1 gallon bottles.

On another topic, this weather still sucks! But today's forecast looks a little rosier than it did yesterday with pluggage likely for the 8th. Glad I kept em a little smaller this year as they are still very happy in their 10 gallon pots.

nomaad-thanks, nice grab on that humax. this weather does suck, doesn't it. fvck. i plugged on sunday, before the forecast predicted scattered thunder storms today and tomorrow, followed by showers this weekend, and showers next week on the 8th and 9th... the weather just seems to be unpredictable this season, a little irritating, and the forecast never seems to be correct.
but what are you gonna doo.

edit: hey nomaad, growmore humic acid is no longer available in california as well, hah.

Been taking consistent mid 30s at night with the Old Betsy and they're building huge roots. Leaf and stem have really slowed down and were showing a lack of P but as the nights get warmer the plants are looking greener and I am sure the root system I've built since 5/9 will be ready to go to the races once the furnace turns on..or so I hope...Big love.

nomaad- lol . gonna go grab a big bottle of EJ Rich Humic

TG- just what i was telling myself this morning, weather is cold and rainy, losing some chlorophyll, but damn those roots must be growing!

Training techniques, indoor veg time for huge outdoor plants?

Training techniques, indoor veg time for huge outdoor plants?

Hey guys,

Can you tell me how long you guys veg your plants and how you train them to get large plants for outdoors? Do you FIM every branch tip?

Last year I had a smaller than expected harvest. My babies are now about 18" tall under a 400w MH.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

HumaCarb from Advancing EcoAgriculture in Ohio is a whole lignite product that tests at 23% humic acid via the 'standard' method and 14% via the CDFA (California Department of Food and Agriculture) method. So the HA % content some are throwing around is based on what method? HumaCarb is not your typical denatured alkali/acid extracted humic salt. The lignin fraction is important especially for supporting fungal growth/activity which is contained in HumaCarb. The typical application is like 2-4 quarts per acre per year in soil applications and as a foliar 4-8 oz per acre per year.

It's all in the ultra micronization process that yields a particle size that is in the nanometer range...:)

Saw someone mention CalPhos...which is probably the most heavy metal contaminated soft rock phosphate on the market today.

Measured roots out today almost to the edge of my 6' diameter smarties... As soon as the furnace turns on it is going to be on...Forecast is teasing that it will be some time this week too!

Looking forward to a good year for all.

Butte you're lookin epic over there.

nice one, TG. Looks like wed or thurs the switch will flip. Can't wait. If I plug on the 8th, I'll be 4 days behind last season. Black boxes have been plugged way in advance of last season and, like yours have roots going to the edges of their pots and will just explode when the sun comes off and the hoopdies go topless.-

I agree that there is a still a chance that the forecast period of shitty weather will continue to contract and we'll see the sun come out sometime this weekend.

The axis of Earth has moved quite a bit recently. We are no longer in the same place to have the same weather. Remember the Sahara desert was once a tropical forest. It was tropical around the great Pyramids. Our weather will probably be different from here on out.

would you mind elaborating? are you saying we're no longer at ~23.5 degrees?

We never were at 23.5 °. Thats a text book round off or something. We are presently at or near 23.43 °.
Evidently our figure axis has changed somewhat recently.
On another note: Ive lived in the same California town for well over 50 years. Something is and has changed. Is it cyclic? Maybe. Long cycles if it is. The changes seem to be worldwide. Or it could be that Im smoking real strong weed....
