Only problems I have from maxibloom was from overwatering or underwatering causing root problems ph issues. Letting the coco dry out to much causes salts issues causing burnt leaves, rust spots ect.

Your Coco is "ready to grow" Bruce no need to wash out salts like inferior brands of coco. Its good to go right out of the bag. Mix up some maxibloom at 5.6-6.0 and water and your good.
Hi Green Lung,
I guess that's why Botanicare calls it 'ReadyGro'. I'm glad it wasn't a snake, lol.
Cheers pal & thanks for the input.

Tips for my first 50/50 coco/perlite K.I.S.S. SCROG please.

I’m giving coco/perlite @ 50/50 a run, 1 tsp Maxibloom and about 1 tbs Silica Blast per gallon of 130ppm tap water, PH adjusted to pee yellow, lights on temps 75-85f, RO 25-35%. I’m watering once a day, to drain with about 10% runoff. 3x6 tray under an air-cooled 1,000 watt Sun-Eye on a 6’ light rail – 18” above the canopy.

These plants where veging in soil until two weeks ago. I broke the roots up a good deal during transplanting to coco, removing most of the soil. After the roots recovered they hit the screen about a week ago and I’ve been tying down each day. A few of them look like they some lost vigor, the leaves are slightly down and I’m seeing bleaching or fading of the leaves of one strain. Today I ran the pump for a second time within 24 hours and after an hour or so they seem to have perked up. Should I increase or decrease watering? I’m used to soil, but I habitually overwater it. Any tips to help my coco KISS are appreciated. Thanks.

i dont know about the fucking up the roots thing.. i know many guys swear by it and have good results, but in terms of trying to tell someone exactly how much it just seems too easy to go too far overboard. my two cents. good luck and kill it, your setup sounds good

I'm a believer. This is my first round of using Maxibloom + Silica Blast and my second grow ever.
Flood and drain setup with Promix BX + Perlite + Dolomite Lime
Flooding twice a day right when the lights turn on and about 5 hours later. When I run out of the Promix BX Im going to buy Promix HP instead. Didnt know the difference before I bought it, saw promix at the hydro shop and just bought it.

I'm no expert when it comes to coco .... but everything i've read about it, it needs to stay moist . & with a 50% mix of perilte its gonna need alot of watering . usually its recommended t water coco every day & sometimes twice a day in late flower . with that mix your gonna have to water 2 maybe 3 times a day in late flower . somebody please correct me if i'm wrong (don't wanna give bad advice ) but yeah .... i think your in for a watering adventure .... might want to think about blumats or a drip system .

growem green & stay safe ...Dans

if the pot feels heavy/wet, you probably dont need to water, if it feels light, or could hold a little more water in there (and the plant is of sufficient size) water away, coco can take a lot.

I'm concerned about the 1 Tbsp of silica blast though, mine says 1 tsp per gallon (5 mL). If you're giving them 15 mL per gallon that might be a bit much.

what kind of soil do you recommend for this method?...preferabbly something that i can scoop at the local hydro shop. i have some girls that have been acting up with buddha grow and earth juice catalyst....i like the idea of keeping it simple.

will i be able to begin feeding maxibloom the next time they need nutes? even though they have been getting organic nutes up until then? i want to finish my grow with maxibloom as what i am doing currently has been working

yeah i run a 50/50 coco/FFOF mix once in a while when the mood strikes (half that above room right now) and it sure does need to stay more moist than soil.. i didn't see the ratio he mentioned on that coco/perlite, but yeah i would second what dans is sayin. not that there is anything wrong with watering often but it will def be a pain in the ass keeping up lol peace

i've had success with both Happy Frog and Fox Farm Ocean Forest (FFOF).. i'm sure any of the usual suspects will work.. just watch your ph levels that is really all there is to worry about. get the dropper don't worry about an expensive meter. it works fine. gl and kill it, yes you can continue a grow with maxibloom after doing organics initially -- i am doing just that right now. from wormcastings and guano to the KISS method all is good

SuperSilverHaze:

Can you give me some details about your plants pictured above. Mainly the size of the pots and the medium you used. The size of the plants when you flipped them to 12/12, and the light you are growing them under. You plants look amazing and are about the size that are nice and easy to manage. Thanks in Advance.

100% coco (sunleaves compressed coco 2.2 kg block)

i veg'd them in clear solo cups till 2 wks prior to flower and then transplanted into the pot in the pic, they were ~14" when i put them in 12/12.

im not sure if they are 1 or 2 gal but they are 8" tall and 6" square across the top.

600 watt in an aircooled hood

that was my first run with that cut and i am running them about twice the size now b/c i have a 600w / 400w vert bare bulb in a 4x4 SJ DR120II

SuperSilverHaze-- Thank you for the reply with all the info. Your plants look amazing and you are running a setup that I will have one day! Thanks again!

Sir Tokes, who's Cindy might that be? She looks amazing!

They are from " FTL " or Fairlight. They were 35$ seeds for 6, on the bay.
Was a little worried at first that they would be bunk, but they are 5th gen bro's grim stock apparently. Yeah seems almost everyone has got the good phenos in the first few seeds poped too.

Cant wait for my plants to finish up with the seeds they are almost ready!
