here is early growth of a cutting in soil with a clover living mulch. This is very respectable 3 days' growth in any medium. Had you seen how little roots the cut had going in, your eyes would pop.

ok... three days ago 4/17 12:53 AM:

3 days later (today) at 1:30pm ... I guess this answers the question: will the living mulch compete with my cuttings?

Having grown commercial, chemical hydro, chemical soil, chemical soilless, organic soil, I can state that the resultant crop is generally of a higher yield in chemical hydro but fraught with disease and pests and unhappy clients/patients saying 'this stuff is shit' Organic soil was far less expensive and soooo much less work and the clients/patients pleased as punch. If one is accustomed to smoking chemical hydro product they may become accustomed to being high on the chemicals and not know what cannabis is really supposed to be like. I've encountered this phenomenom with people who won't eat free run farm eggs because the yokes are too rich and orange, or won't drink whole milk because it is too creamy nor grass fed meat because it tastes wild and is too lean.

madliberated basically does the same as vg, only with bigger screens and bigger light. mod scrog rocks.

it's even called "liberated quarters", after verdant green's quarters.

Biggest yields in shortest times I've ever seen have all been 'organic' grows in containers. I think it's entirely possible that hydro methods can yield as much, just that I haven't seen it yet. Main differences between the two is watering. Many people can't meet the watering needs of plants in containers without some practice, hydro bypasses that skill. Gardeners with some years under their belts know that skills are where it's at, not products or 'recipes'. Everyone who embraces technology and products too early runs the risk of not being able to develop skills in a reasonable amount of time. Ten years down the line, they're still stuck with the same recipe and no skills to boost their game. Heady Blunts, that WAS a beautiful rant, couldn't have said it better myself.

It's an ignorant notion to think that we can create an environment that bests nature. We've been developing chemical ferts and genetically modifying crops for years with this mentality and now the evidence is showing us how foolish we really are. Like I said earlier, some people don't "get it", but the one's who DO get it attempt to replicate the best of nature in their soil. There is a bigger picture that you naysayers fail to see that involves complex symbiosis that only a living soil can provide. All of the desireable traits we look for in cannabis are the result of a healthy plant, and the healthiest plants grow in healthy soil. Mimic what some of the more active heads from the organic forum are doing on a small scale with a sinlge plant if you need to see it yourself to be convinced. You'll be happy and so will your plants!

When it comes to assume something like eating, drinking or smoking, ie something which is going throught your mouth I'd like to close my eyes and let mouth taste first and choose. Blind test:)

When I smoke, I realized, after years of growing, that at the end of every grower chat EVERYTHING comes up to a cloud of smoke from your preferred smoking items to your mouth. If it likes it, it's ok, you're going on, if it's not.... it's nearly over....
Taste for me is everything.
Potency has to do more with one's tolerance and receptors downregulation after some time.
a smoking last is needed sometimes...

I tried tons of different smoke out there and always the best were from organic soil.

Good organic amended and living soil and sun and lots of love are in the recipe for success.
Nature has been growing sooo long before us and knows...

In a good soil you can get best medicine with only water.

Speaking of tomatoes, close your eyes and try some large hydro grown tomatoes you can buy at supermarket, and next one small, maybe wrinkled tomato grown in soil in sun of south of europe.... which one would you choose next?

i just had another good analogy: there's a reason the best wine grapes are grown in biodynamic living soil. the wine term terroir would apply well to ganja as well.

well i dont have as much experience to say much but im using ocean forest right now, just left hydroponics.

so far im loving the results, only about a week in.

things i hated about hydro.. no problem getting results.. i just hated how wet it was all the time as stupid as that sounds, i used way more water than im using now, more water, meant more nutes, more time spent adjusting it.. damn pumps along with other components always constantly having to be cleaned and randomly getting clogged to wake up to unhappy plants oh and transporting those god forsaken hydro buckets was hell on earth, when they are tiny sure but if you needed to move them later on goodness was such a pain those buckets are so awkward to carry.. so many scary moments..

i used the GH drip buckets, dont know if i will use them again, we will see. so far i just notice i have more insects for sure with soil, but noting uncontrollable yet or causing any problems.

well on a note of bad hydro, ive been very lucky when i was younger to know a excellent hydro grower and still know him, im not going to say which is better because i truly believe if you master your medium the potential is limitless.

i think as much as people get caught up in what is truly better it always comes down to the individual growing and nothing more other than the knowledge they have gathered and are able to apply to their medium of choice.

anyway point of all that most of my friends have presented me with some horrible hydro, if im ever in a bind and dont have my own, i never go to anyone else other than my good mate, as much as i hate to add to the debate he grows some of the best buds ive ever had and its all hydro, done with GH drip buckets and the basic GH 3 part. he grew some super lemon haze recently that was just divine. another time ill never forget is when he smoked me out with his prized sweet tooth, i never seen sweet tooth like his before either, it was dead pink, like a stick of cotton candy.. the leaves on the buds were massive, the way they developed was unlike anything ive seen before as well.. to top it all off it had natural resin forming on the leaves in inside the nugs because it was just so potent.. just pure black gooey goodness... phew mouth is watering remembering that stuff, rare treat it was. he is growing some twilight right now, some insane looking red strain, so i cant wait to see how well that comes out.

im sure there are buds as good as his ill find grown in different mediums eventually but at the moment he blows me away more than anything ive seen here or in a high times magazine or the net period.. so again it just comes down to a person actually knowing what they are doing and actually understanding plants to get that good, clean, tasteful and memorable buds we all covet and love.

ive noticed if anything hydro is harder to use, or maybe just hard for some to understand other than just adding water to soil.. which in turn leaves a lot of bad hydro to be handed around and a lot of bad experiences for poor people who shouldve gotten better, in my case like i said i was lucky to always have a superb grower.
